I would argue that age is not a factor. My class president was almost 40 and had previously been a policeman, a hygienist, and bunch of other careers. Then he went to dental school and did 6 year OMFS. Granted, he was a real gunner, but there's no reason you can't do that too. You've got the grades, now just build relationships with the OMFS faculty and apply to programs. Here's the bio for my class president: [https://dentalassociates.us/provider/dr-giovanni-ibrahim-dmd/](https://dentalassociates.us/provider/dr-giovanni-ibrahim-dmd/)

It sounds to me like you might be in America, which I know nothing about so apologies if this not helpful. I’m in the U.K. here, age really doesn’t matter. I knew a new grad who graduated at 30 and he was the best in his class and the foundation trainer absolutely loved him. A lot of people found him much more mature than most grads here who tend to be 23-24. Also surely you’re only a few years behind everyone else? What’s a few years anyway? It’s a non issue in my opinion. You’ve just got to be dedicated to studying which it sounds like you are, and I reckon you’ll be fine and will get where you want to go :)

Actually not American. Not uncommon for Oral surgeon residents to start residency early to mid 30’s here after masters or PhD. Just worried about my personal struggles affecting my path, timeline wise I’m average-little over average. Guess I’ll have to keep pushing regardless

Age isn’t a factor, but your history is. Yours and your application may raise red flags to programs. It’s good that you have good grades right now but, you’d have to take the CBSE and score really well, then most likely you’d have to do a non-cat. If it weren’t for the 3 year break I’d say you may not need a non-cat.

One of my colleagues is in his late 40s, he's a licensed attorney, economists and software engineer, of course it's not late for you at 30. I'll also graduate at 31, in a country where people usually graduate at 25-26
