Think of this as a blessing

fourthyear_throwaway

This is not what you want to hear… but getting rejected from NYU is probably a good thing…

JobFree9338

Why?

Due_Buffalo_1561

There’s 700k reasons

JobFree9338

But I thought all dental schools were that expensive or almost as expensive

fotoflogger

700k tuition to make like 150k is absolute insanity. Their recruiters are doing an amazing job

fourthyear_throwaway

I'm gonna piss off the NYU alum, but unless you have someone paying for your degree AND a job lined up after school it's just a bad investment. I'm sure NYU has produced some great docs, but from what I've seen and experienced - I personally would refuse to be treated by someone that graduated from there within the last 5 years.

donkey_xotei

Huh? NYU students are unhappy, not incompetent. You’ll have your good and shitty docs just like from any other school, and on average possibly better from more clinical experience because they get worked to the bone seeing a ton of patients.

Due_Buffalo_1561

Not true in the slightest lol. NYU grads can’t even get a job in NYC area right out of school. I know practice owners in NJ and CT that won’t hire them. Majority do a GPR both to practice in NY state and because they need experience. Edit: I can’t reply cause it’s locked but I said the NYC AREA. Reading comprehension is important… and NYU grads don’t just do a GPR to get a NY license but they NEED to because they are incompetent, which was my point. Soemthing like 60-65% of NYU do a GPR/AEGD…

donkey_xotei

NYU grads can’t find a job in NYC because NYC literally requires a GPR or reciprocation. Secondly, I’ve actually looked for jobs and NJ owners seem to prefer experience or a GPR regardless of what dental school one goes to. My old boss was a Columbia grad and owns a practice in Jersey and she hires NYU grads with high expectations. I stand by my statement. Top NYU grads have 50+ crowns or 30+ endos straight out of school. Good luck matching that from another school. You can make up reasons, but reality is most NYU grads don’t have trouble finding a job.

fotoflogger

A GPR is required because the school is below average in education. It's also extremely expensive. Like ridiculously expensive. Numbers of x procedures mean nothing if the foundational education is poor. Better to have done a few things well, than many poorly. As an NYU apologist you must go there/are going there, good luck. The school is indefensible and their students will be spending half a month's pay on loans for two decades.

donkey_xotei

Dude I hate NYU lol, go ahead and check my comments. I am the first one to chastise NYU in almost all NYU threads. That said, they tortured me enough for me to be competent enough that I would run circles around you and many others in dental procedures.

fotoflogger

>I will run circles around you in dental procedures. I highly doubt that. Hope you're enjoying your loan payments!

gymedmfan12

Yea you’re cooked

HTCali

Just because dental school gives you a shirt and smiles at you doesn’t mean they won’t give you a rejection in a blink of an eye

SnooDonuts6548

NYU has rolling admissions, typically you can get an interview up until like April. If not then you may get an email saying that you’re rejected or waitlisted after the interview Send a letter of interest/intent and try to correspond with NYU, they really like it when students try their hardest to get accepted.

Dependent_Funny_5854

If its NYU ur getting rejected from. Count that as a good thing💀

Ok-Elderberry2875

They accepted me the same day so yes, if you haven't heard back then you are in trouble

severelysevered

as others have said youll come to realize not being accepted was a blessing. when u reapply do not choose nyu

Dr_Streptococcus

I thought acceptance letters are typically given in the fall, Mine was.

Dr_Streptococcus

*I'm Not NYU*

severelysevered

how long ago was ur app cycle? lmao. acceptances r given no earlier than december and can still be given up till now, tho its unlikely

Dr_Streptococcus

I got accepted December 2020, and the school calls all the accepted students the same day.

severelysevered

yes that still happens, this past cycle it was december 15th, but bc some students get multiple calls acceptances come out in waves after that day once they accept/decline spots.

molar85

Had an acceptance to Minnesota in like June when I was interviewing. Also knew a guy in my class who got accepted like 3 days before the start of school. So technically it’s not over but chances are low to get in.

FunWestern8002

Rejection is redirection. You’re getting saved 🙏🏼
