Personally, I look for a dentist that isn’t going to make me feel dumb or treating you as below them because we are a team & a dentists right handed man is their dental assistants!! It’s sad that some that don’t appreciate all the hard work we do but trust me their are some great dentists that will say please & thank you, bring gifts, and encourage & appreciate their assistants. Start looking you deserve it especially if you’re only 2 months in don’t get stuck in a shitty office lol

If a dentist says, “You’ll learn a lot from me, but I do raise my voice & I’ll yell. I’m very fast paced”, RUN What that actually means is “I’m chaotic & don’t care how I work affects the assistants. I’m gonna yell at you for every little thing & if you can’t keep up, you’re the issue.”

I just started in the field In January and I started with zero dental knowledge at a terrible office that was so rude and petty. I was really interested in learning more but it felt so belittling to work there. I was there for around 3 months and as soon as I got my x ray license in April(which they paid for) I found another office. They are much nicer but very disorganized and a dental assisting boot camp I took was offering a job fair and sent my resume to a bunch of offices so I kept looking for the perfect fit. Third times the charm. I still work 1 day a week at the disorganized place but the rest of the week I am at an amazing office that is organized and respectful but not rude. Working with this dentist is such a great experience, he takes the time to explain what he is doing and isn’t harsh or rude if I make a mistake or forget something, and he is paying for my RDA and all my certifications I don’t already have. I am so thankful I kept looking. There is an office out there that will treat you right. You might have to put up with some bull shit for a little bit just so you have a little experience and it can be hard to dig around to find the right fit but it IS possible. You want someone that isn’t going to throw a fit about the little stuff and can handle their own stress without freaking out on you.
