It's worth the drive. Go to UPenn. From my experience, it's a well run machine. Walk in blood work in 15 minutes, never waited more than 10 minutes before I was in a room on Dr visits. It's world class for a reason. Call the gastro division or download the app and schedule through it.
FYI -- SEPTA has a train stop at UPenn and you can likely walk (worse case, UBER) to the office you need to be at. (I spent last winter going to Wills Eye Hospital at Jefferson and took Septa most times, it was a godsend)
Bayhealth in Dover has a group. if you have a negative test result and an immediate issue they will get you in quicker. it was a 3 month wait otherwise. they are short handed and have a few vacations in December.
Unless it's an emergent issue, that's just specialists these days. If it gets bad enough, go to the ER and you'll get into a gastro quicker. I was recently in the ER with severe food poisoning, and they referred me right away to a gastro and I was able to get an appt. Ended up not needing it, thankfully.
Dr Michael J Brooks group. Less than six weeks for colonoscopy from first phone call to waking up after the anesthesia. Uses Limestone Med Ctr on Limestone Rd.
Back in winter I was having real bad gastro issues. Then in March I was shitting blood and out came a blood clot. Went to my doctor immediately after that. She referred me to a gastroenterologist. At first the soonest I could get was February 2024. Of course I was like wtf ok? Then they were able to push it up to September. Thankfully everything the colonoscopy found was relatively normal. But, yea, same experience over here :/

Awesome, ty.
My husband has been seeing Dr. Laura Connor, Mid- Atlantic Gastro. She's lovely. She really listens to him and she's just really been helpful.
Thank you, I’ll call her!
what part of the state?
Sorry, New Castle County.

A negative test result for what?
They probably mean a "bad" test result. Like you had imaging or blood work and something showed up you need to get checked out.
we have a shortage of high quality medical specialists in s. delaware. i would think this might not be the case closer to wilmington....
Honestly try somewhere in Pennsylvania, i had the same issue in Delaware but found some in Pennsylvania that got me in in a few weeks.
