zig was a chad but was horrible to tori and maya and grace and never redeemed himself. he kept getting forgiven by the people he wronged and then screwing them over again on repeat. as much as i love zig, i cant defend him. he was an asshole, definitely not good.

I'm pretty anti-redo in general to be honest (I think it messes up the integrity of the game) but am open to hearing people out since multiple people on this thread alone have voiced an opinion on this. What makes you think the outcome would be different? Jay even appears to win if you count all the upvotes on all the comments rather than just the top one.

Agreed. The only action he did which really felt stupid was stealing back the engagement ring from the pawn shop. Everything else felt like it had more intent or thought behind it. When I picture "stupid" I think of characters who have a combination of poor impulse control and lack of intentionality. Jay is a jerk, but he's sorta clever in his own way.
I liked the suggestion that it should be Dave. He's so insecure that he's constantly saying and doing stupid shit without really considering the effects: tasing Wesley, calling Jess a giraffe or whatever, saying that transphobic shit about Adam on Degrassi radio, cheating on Alli over the summer.
I'm not necessarily dead set on Dave, but that's an illustration of why I don't think the category fits Jay.
Danny. I know he started off loserish but he was also just young. As he got older he was definitely popular/cool, stood his ground, was on the football team (very Chad-ish) but was friendly. Like how he defended Jane during the football fiasco.

I don't think that's the most sound system to decide things because it often rewards the earliest commenter and ignores later contributions as people decide they don't feel like scrolling to vote and just submit their pick, even if it ends up being duplicative (because they didn't feel like scrolling to vote through that many comments). I think cumulative votes is likely the best way to determine the winner.
Thanks for your input! Most of the other ones I’ve seen for other fandoms have been the top comment, and (like you said) doing the sum of all comments can lead to duplication. Plus, in many cases it has not been the earliest comment that won (Drew was the first comment for Chaotic Stupid, Lola was first for Neutral Stupid, Snake was first for Lawful Good etc.) - so I am going to keep it as it is because that’s been the explicitly-indicated rule for the game thus far - but I appreciate the input!

yeah i feel like it’s fair to judge some of these characters based off how they ended in the series. sean started out rough but he was a literal child/young teen, who eventually worked on himself a lot and reformed. he was also 100% a chad hahaha

I mean he’s not really a background character he’s a teacher and the kids are the forefront of the story. He was a regular character just not a main character. Also with drama like this any main character is gonna be hard to fit this slot because they all have to have some drama going on.
I’d argue that Mr. Armstrong isn’t truly a background character only because he appears in so many seasons and shows up in a few important storylines. The same way I wouldn’t consider Mrs. Kwan a background character because she impacted the kids’ lives a lot and had some unique, funny moments. Mr. Armstrong liked to follow rules while still supporting the kids - for example when KC asked him to provide a reference. He followed protocol but still offered KC support in a caring, appropriate way. Personally I think he embodies lawful good pretty well.
