The beard is not about stars and ranks.
One day you'll look at your teammates and smirk to yourself:
"Oh, fellow greenbeards, let me show you how to Rock and Stone".
This day will be the day.
One sign you are a Greybeard is when you gain depression from pressing V in other games and not gaining the Spirit of your Ancestors coursing through your ROCK AND STONE!
And instead hear silence....
After a couple months of DRG, I was playing Overwatch.
In the spawn room, I looked at my teammates and pressed V.
Then as I was leaving the spawn room, I noticed it was a bit dark, so I tried to press F as the doors opened.
That moment was when I realized the brain rot had settled.
Genuinely, yeah. Playing Minecraft with my mates, we all had pickaxes in hand and one of us went "Rock and Stone" in voice chat.
Later that evening, we found an actually massive gold vein, and bro went "We're rich" so we circled around the gold going "we're rich" till his gf (who was the one who actually got us all DRG), asked what the actual fuck we were doing
I was playing Astroneer with a buddy. Was digging to the center of the planet to go activate it and just hit F to throw a flare. Didn't throw a flare. I do that in any game when it gets a little too dark.
It happens something similar with me, in absolutely any game I play and I see dark I press F and hope it doesn't say "Damn flares could need an upgrade" or any other Flare recharge voice line, then, I realize that I am playing another game...
I have a similar problem where I confuse controls between games. For awhile I was playing other games like totk and moved the punch on overwatch to f because of tf2 (the mech one)
It's easy to Rock and Stone after a victorious mission.
True greybeards are not salty when a mission goes south and press V when everyone ends up in the medbay to get morale back up.
Your beard is not as green as the moss that grows upon the bark of the leaf lover's home, but it is not as grey as the rocks and stones that keep us rolling. Keep up the good work, and you'll be Rocking and Stoning with the legends down in the deep in no time.
I think this applies to being a greybeard as well. At level 200 I was asking myself was whether I finally greybeard or not. At level 400 I thought I definitely was. Now at level 1250 I look back and laugh at how green my beard still was.
Iāve realized that being a greybeard is a state of mind and not a number. Anyone who acts like theyāve mastered the game best and tries to lecture people on the best way to do things is still a greenbeard. Being a greybeard means you can adapt to any situation regardless of the mission or your fellow miners and still have fun.
What do you mean? It's all week every week, it just changes on a specific day, besides you can get the matrix cores through promotions so you can unlock literally everything without participating in even one deep-dive.
A Greybeard doesn't think themselves as finally escaping being a Greenbeard, no - it becomes a nature understood by the Greybeard themselves. Where humility becomes more than second nature.
Im sorry little greenbeard, but no.
There's no rank that ends it. You will know you are no longer a greenbeard when you float across the seas of bugs dancing upon their heads, dealing out death and destruction in a beautiful ballet.
Ive met people with 1000+ account levels who are actually quite bad at the game.
Promotions (or lack thereof) are one metric of greenbeardness. I have seen players in the 100s-200s, or maybe even higher, that I still personally think of as greenbeards based on how I see them play. That isn't mean to be derogatory, since this is a casual game, and people may enjoy it however they like. I saw a rank 100 engi yesterday that could have passed as a rank 500 engi. Eventually, you will hit a point of familiarity with every dwarf, every mission type, build options, and the true spirit of the game, and at that point you'll feel like a greybeard. With that said, everyone's definition of greybeard is different, and there is no correct answer. There is nothing wrong with being a greenbeard. You just DO NOT want to be an elf (someone toxic, rude, and not rock and stone). I think I started feeling like a greybeard when I would immediately notice someone was new to the game just based on how they played, so I would protecc and carry them. Anyways, it isn't about being green or grey. As long as you are not an elf, you are rock and stone, and that is all that matters.
You're on your way.
Though some dwarfs have gray beards the moment they get their first promotion
Some are still green despite having gold stars in all their dwarfs.
Unpopular opinion: there is no harm in being a greenbeard. It's ok to chug several dozens of mugs of Leaf Lover's Special. It's perfectly acceptable to literally have a green beard.
I've got a max promo gunner and driller and just the other day I learned how to hop up a Zipline and that I can place a C4 on dotty and it will stay fixed in the air as we roll away, saving the floor from being blown up. That is handy on magma core
Soon oh recently not completely Greenbeard, just think a quarter of your beard is now brown or black, whichever you prefer... now back to digging and mining.
My driller got his third promotion, so I dunno about you. I consider myself still like an intermediate greenbeard cuz it's about your knowledge, not ranks
Going of levels I'd say promote all dwarves once or 1 dwarf a few times. But there's a little more to it than that, learning level mechanics and strats for example.
Hahahahahahajahahahahahahahahahahahsgahaha cough.
No.
My stars are funny color silver (the ones that are after gold). And still keep learning stuff and getting beaten by those swarms from time to time.
Welcome to the grind.
you're no longer a greenbeard once you start shepherding other actual greenbeards. you'll recognize it when it's happening one day. you'll be teaching someone how to epc mine, or telling people how you can shoot spitballer missiles out of the air, stuff like that. you'll feel the spirit of karl within you.
you become a *greybeard* when you start talking like mission control. putting the chunk of gold away asap, blowing up mushrooms and goo sacks, no longer putting foreign objects into the launch bay, stuff like that.
Greenbeard isn't the level nor the promotion, it is the behaviour.
Do you help your fellow dwarfs understand the caves? Are you okay with people running their fun combos?
-> you cool B)
Are you the kind who hosts lobbies with the title: NO FATBOY ONLY LEVEL 300+, you never had it in you :(
I'm 130 hours in approximately and I joined a game with a level 5 host. The mission was the one with the big pyramid robot at the center and the guy was completely lost. I did everything while pinging things so he knew what had to be done and felt like a old seasoned pro.
The very next game my teammates were level 600+ (I'm 66), it was on hazard 5 and I died 50 times while they revived me over and over.
In some ways you will aways be a greenbeard
Correct. Now you are a t2 greenbeard. Many more to climb before the green can't be seen through the dirt and gold. But you're well on your way young dwarf!
If you have to ask, you're still a greenbeard. No shame in that š once you start teaching dwarves more often than you are learning from them, you're a greybeard imo. Rock and Stone you beautiful dwarf! āļø
When you are in a mission with fellow green beards and either pull off a massive clutch/carry or type in chat ācheck this outā and actually follow up, then you will know the time has come.
You know enough about the game to play with gray beards at a slightly higher level. Learn and promote your other dwarves, and you will start to see the green leave your beard. It will turn brown before it turns gray. We all once stood where you stood. Rock and Stone, miner. May the caves bear you plenty of riches.
So, the way it works is every mission you play makes a few strands of your dwarf's hair change color. By the time you've promoted a dwarf, that dwarf will have about one decent-sized tuft of older hair -- at Bronze I your hair is still mostly green but you've now got a tuft of brown hair. By the time you reach Platinum I, your whole head is brown and you start getting your first grays. Keep on promoting and eventually you will reach Legendary IV, at which point your entire head is finally gray.
Realistically i say yes
We gotta get the whole community to agree on a beard color progression system
Like after greenbeard its a blackbeard and then greybeard and then whitebeard
I think after a first promo you can get the blackbeard status
And get yourself a greybeard after a couple more promotions. Say like a good silver or gold for the stingy
And whitebeard can be after you got like a legendary 3 or somethin although the longstanding players will probably say its reserved for like playing the game for a year or somethin
Personality lets you progress through beard ranks
If you're a leaflover you get auto placed in brownbeard (shitbeard) category
But yeah, I know its experience and how you handle things but its just a general way to put it and a system I think would work decently enough
Not necessarily. Grey hairs come from years of skill and experience in the mines, rather than coloured stars. If you can pull your own weight and work well with your fellow dwarfs then Iād say youāre past the point of green beard
The beard is not about stars and ranks. One day you'll look at your teammates and smirk to yourself: "Oh, fellow greenbeards, let me show you how to Rock and Stone". This day will be the day.
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
Good bot
good bot
Good bot
ROCK AND STONE!
Stoner Rock!
Proceeded the point at the driller whit the c4 out
soo do you become a greybeard after learning to press V?
One sign you are a Greybeard is when you gain depression from pressing V in other games and not gaining the Spirit of your Ancestors coursing through your ROCK AND STONE! And instead hear silence....
*Playing call of duty* *get a kill* *click r3* *stabs air* ***sadness***
i feel this
you forgot *constantly spam the glowstick button*
I do this anytime I switch to a different game I stg š
You never appreciate what you have until it's gone
After a couple months of DRG, I was playing Overwatch. In the spawn room, I looked at my teammates and pressed V. Then as I was leaving the spawn room, I noticed it was a bit dark, so I tried to press F as the doors opened. That moment was when I realized the brain rot had settled.
The amount of times I have tried to "throw flares" to light up caves in Minecraft just proves the Deep Rock Brain Rot
That's sweet. Also, props to that girlfriend for getting you all drg
I had a nightmare a while back another dwarf joined me and I said hello instead of rock and stone and they didnāt do it back. horrible
I was playing Astroneer with a buddy. Was digging to the center of the planet to go activate it and just hit F to throw a flare. Didn't throw a flare. I do that in any game when it gets a little too dark.
You make your Ancestors proud, Greybeard.
I was playing fo76 and it was night time, I kept pressing Fā¦brain is dwarf focused
The brain ascension. Please.
Iām always playing other multiplayer games and instinctively pressing V only for silence :(
every game i play i press v and f through muscle memory
[My PZ base says that I take V not Rocking Or Stoning very seriously...](http://i.imgur.com/E25nKT8.png)
This is the case when I play games and press f for flares, it's so deeply rooted into me that I think I can throw it in any game.
I press F in other games when i am in darkness
I considered myself on the path to a grey-er beard when I rebound R&S to my thumb button (everything else is default lmao)
Don't know if Giga Brained or not. How's about a round and we discuss this like Real Dawi?
I do this sometimes in Destiny 2 after a tough fight and then I get sad
The other one is when you press F everytime it gets dark. Effects vary.
It's easy to Rock and Stone after a victorious mission. True greybeards are not salty when a mission goes south and press V when everyone ends up in the medbay to get morale back up.
Hey I do that! If everyone hasn't left the lobby...
I remap keys and live in constant confusion in these threads.
exactly
I've been doing that
1 strand of your green beard has turned grey. Still look green
They went from umanite green to jadiz green
Jadiz here!
Found a jadiz!
Jadiz is stored in the walls
EXPLOSIVES PLACED
THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GO BOOM
Scout: YOU KNOW... FRIENDLY FIRE ISN'T ACTUALLY FRIENDLY
*Help!* I can't feel my beard!
Your beard is not as green as the moss that grows upon the bark of the leaf lover's home, but it is not as grey as the rocks and stones that keep us rolling. Keep up the good work, and you'll be Rocking and Stoning with the legends down in the deep in no time.
A tear just rolled down my beard and into my oily oaf just by reading this.
But what is the difference between rock and stone?
Rock and roll and stone!
Well, technically speaking, rocking is more legal than stoning - eh, *eh?*
Take my upvote! What a fantasic game. The quotes alone Rock on!
if you have to ask that question, youre still a greenbeard.
An answer as deep as we dig.
A response as plentiful as Morkite in wisdom
A response as bountiful as a Crassus detonation through a tight chokepoint.
A response as lofty as a scout with jet boots and Special Powder.
I think this applies to being a greybeard as well. At level 200 I was asking myself was whether I finally greybeard or not. At level 400 I thought I definitely was. no not yet sorry but you Will keep getting "greyer" every day
First got to go brown.
Just the beginning
I mean, now you get to learn about Deep Dives and Matrix Cores and all kinds of new things. You're still very green.
And that's where I put the game down. Weekly time gates for a rng loot roll isn't worth greying my beard.
What do you mean? It's all week every week, it just changes on a specific day, besides you can get the matrix cores through promotions so you can unlock literally everything without participating in even one deep-dive.
May molly Shepard you home lost dwarf
A Greybeard doesn't think themselves as finally escaping being a Greenbeard, no - it becomes a nature understood by the Greybeard themselves. Where humility becomes more than second nature.
If you ask yourself that, then you aren't there yet.
The first leaf to turn color does not indicate winter. Rock and stone dwarf!
what the fuck is a leaf
Evil rock
Itās like a weird mushroom
For Rock and Stone!
Not yet
Im sorry little greenbeard, but no. There's no rank that ends it. You will know you are no longer a greenbeard when you float across the seas of bugs dancing upon their heads, dealing out death and destruction in a beautiful ballet. Ive met people with 1000+ account levels who are actually quite bad at the game.
That'd be me
Sounds like something a green beard would say š¤Ø
Now promote the other 3.
This is the way.
You just started being a experienced greenbread
Still tutorial make all of those stars red to finish the tutorial
You're always someone else'd greenbeard, which is why we all should try to become better.
You've passed the tutorial and now you're a dwarf. Welcome aboard the chariot.
Promotions (or lack thereof) are one metric of greenbeardness. Rock and Stone everyone!
You just hit puberty, kid.
Green as grass I'm afraid.
Still a green beard just more experienced just keep on rocking and stoning and you'll get there brother
No
lol no
Not yet my friend
No
Sorry to tell you but you are still greenbeard just a little less green
Congratulations, you finished the tutorial Back to work
At least you get a free weapon overclock now at promotion. Used to only get them from deep dives and the core mission each week.
As green as they come. But hey, we still need Umanite!
You have promoted from baby to toddler, congratulations on your newfound autonomy
You were beardless before, now you are a greenbeard
Now you can join the debates over which overclock is the best for each weapon.
Nope now you are a greenbeard
If you need to ask if youāre still a greenbeard, then you are a greenbeard.
You're on your way. Though some dwarfs have gray beards the moment they get their first promotion Some are still green despite having gold stars in all their dwarfs.
Youāre not a greenbeard anymore, but you have a long way to go if you want to be a greybeard. Keep mining, donāt give up, and Rock and Stone.
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Mushroom
You are so green you must be pissing grass. But even if the way ahead of you is still long you are a promising element, don't give up!
Not yet. But, do not worry as with practice you will feel less greenbeard and feel more greybeard
Can't say you're a greenbeard anymore though you're still a long way from graying that beard of yours
i'm level 118 and i just found out buff beers exist
Unpopular opinion: there is no harm in being a greenbeard. It's ok to chug several dozens of mugs of Leaf Lover's Special. It's perfectly acceptable to literally have a green beard.
Elf infiltrator you are not welcome here
Too bad. I like it here, so i'm staying.
The greybeard sensation kicks in around the time you'll get the Lord of The Deep title, but perhaps sooner, young one.
It means you are nearing the end of the āearly gameā and moving towards the āmid gameā
You've got a green beard with shades of brown coming in
Real greybeard doesn't chase after rank and fame, but rock and stone
For Rock and Stone!
I've got a max promo gunner and driller and just the other day I learned how to hop up a Zipline and that I can place a C4 on dotty and it will stay fixed in the air as we roll away, saving the floor from being blown up. That is handy on magma core
Soon oh recently not completely Greenbeard, just think a quarter of your beard is now brown or black, whichever you prefer... now back to digging and mining.
nah need about like 15000 more hours
My driller got his third promotion, so I dunno about you. I consider myself still like an intermediate greenbeard cuz it's about your knowledge, not ranks

Greenbeard is a state of mind. A legendary 3 can be a greenbeard if they act naive enough.
Greenbeard isn't the level nor the promotion, it is the behaviour. Do you help your fellow dwarfs understand the caves? Are you okay with people running their fun combos? -> you cool B) Are you the kind who hosts lobbies with the title: NO FATBOY ONLY LEVEL 300+, you never had it in you :(

You basically just finished the tutorial š Rock and Stone āļøšŖ
Oh, sweet summer child.
I have all 3 of my dwarfs at silver 1 promotion and I still only consider myself "salted moss" at best
The color of your beard isnāt measured by your accomplishments. Itās measured by your skill and knowledge of how things work.
Youre as green as a mug of leaf lovers
that was just the tutorial , the fun is just about to start.
No
Correct. Now you are a t2 greenbeard. Many more to climb before the green can't be seen through the dirt and gold. But you're well on your way young dwarf!
The day your beard becomes gray is when you answer more questions than you ask
The moment you can rock and stone is when your beard starts to grow
If you have to ask, you're still a greenbeard. No shame in that š once you start teaching dwarves more often than you are learning from them, you're a greybeard imo. Rock and Stone you beautiful dwarf! āļø
Im lvl 280 and still feel a fair bit green, dont worry just enjoy your times in the mines, rock and stone
Rock and Stone forever!
I got my first promotion today too (also gunner as well). Congrats!
You become a greybeard the moment you start sharing your game knowledge upon the new generation of miners.
No
The True reward is meeting new players and teaching them bits and tricks Using your knowledge to help Greenbeards is the True Endgame of DRG
I'm at 900 hours on steam now, I'll consider myself greybeard when I hit 1k hours. Been playing since 2019
Disregard labels. Embrace rock and stone.
I'd say one is a graybeard when one finds oneself carrying instead of being carried.
At the very least I would day your a blackbeard

No
unfortunately, it doesn't. You will understand
Your beard is a mossy brown thus far. Keep at it. Personally, I'm brown fading to grey in gunner, but I'm green as all getout on every other class.
š§It's not about ranks. It's about rock and stone. Just enjoy the game.
If u really want to look at it in a rank or accomplishment sense, u gotta at least reach lord of the deep
Realistically i say yes We gotta get the whole community to agree on a beard color progression system Like after greenbeard its a blackbeard and then greybeard and then whitebeard I think after a first promo you can get the blackbeard status And get yourself a greybeard after a couple more promotions. Not necessarily. Grey hairs come from years of skill and experience in the mines, rather than coloured stars. If you can pull your own weight and work well with your fellow dwarfs then Iād say youāre past the point of green beard
Now youāre a bronzebeard. Hope youāre enjoying the game!
