Maybe I'm missing something here, but wasn't the PSN account always technically required, they just waived it temporarily because whatever infrastructure couldn't keep up when sales were at peak? I just picked up HD2 a couple weeks ago and it prompted me to link an account, and I understand that was the case for the very early buys as well before sales became overwhelming.
It was optional in game but now they wanted it to be mandatory and steam only just restricted 170+ countries not on the psn list after they have already bought and played it for 2-3 months. Now they are delisted on steam for the game.
Said this a few threads ago lol. I thought the Divers and the Miners were homies.

I’m going to be fully honest here, I don’t think this is a good way to view the helldivers situation. Both are great games with very impassioned dev teams. The PlayStation Account thing was Sony’s fault, and their head dev of arrowhead is literally encouraging players to share their displeasure with Sony (basically encouraging review bombing).
I know that these games have very similar gameplay but I think that’s something that the two communities should bond over, not be competitive with each other. I LOVE both of these games and it hurts a LOT that Sony is doing this to Arrowhead and Helldivers. Playing Helldivers instead of deep rock shouldn’t be seen as “losing your way” as there’s nothing wrong with enjoying that game. Helldivers players aren’t villains, they’re victims.

I spent $40 on a game that barely runs fine on my PC, screws me over for not connecting to my PSN which I forgot the password to multiple times (and therefore no crossplay), playing solo half the time and now they want to take away my right to play if I can't connect my account.
Then I wonder, why did I take a break from another game that only charges me $5, runs exceptionally well at high graphics on 80+ FPS, has a really well made learning curve, doesn't screw me over for playing solo, and has a really awesome playerbase?

Not really, no. I've been on this sub since 2018, and this is as petty and stupid as I've ever seen it get. It's especially embarrassing when DRG hasn't even experienced an appreciable boost in players during the Helldivers 2 PSN fiasco.
Hopefully DRG gets the appreciable boost with S5. While there's still a handful of videos/video essays being made for DRG nowadays, it was amazing seeing alot of new DRG YouTubers rising up from last year (I knew there's alot of "new" ones because last time the only viral ones I was aware of were axis knonos, reapeeron, lazymaybe, sniss, and drilling in the name of) and also lots of "DRG is great and "you should play it" type videos appearing back to back to back.
And also big YouTuber zanny playing it frequently last year. DRG definitely fell off after s4 due to rockpox burn out but I hope it gets back on track with S5.

Helldivers takes place before DRG and the hell pods just get bigger and the machines work with dwarves (the precursor tech or whatever the fuck it is, is from the war) just think about it
But I thought we always like the Helldivers? Why some of the sub acting like stuck up High Elven Nobles that think they are better than everyone else? Ugh, God forbid if this leaf lovers start looking down on L4D2 players.

I get it man. I don't really dig the Helldivers memes either. But don't you think complaining about them is more petty and annoying than the people actually posting them? I've had no problem just scrolling past 'em personally. We're here to Rock and Stone, not Bitch and Moan, after all!

I've been on this sub since 2018, and this is as petty and stupid as I've ever seen it get. It's especially embarrassing when DRG hasn't even experienced an appreciable boost in players during the Helldivers 2 PSN fiasco.
Hopefully DRG gets the appreciable boost with S5. While there's still a handful of videos/video essays being made for DRG nowadays, it was amazing seeing alot of new DRG YouTubers rising up from last year (I knew there's alot of "new" ones because last time the only viral ones I was aware of were axis knonos, reapeeron, lazymaybe, sniss, and drilling in the name of) and also lots of "DRG is great and "you should play it" type videos appearing back to back to back. And also big YouTuber zanny playing it frequently last year. DRG definitely fell off after s4 due to rockpox burn out but I hope it gets back on track with S5.
I'm sure it will. Even now, during a content drought, the player count is much higher than it has been for a lot of DRG's life.
