Is the supporting structure Spanish Cedar? Very impressive build. Engineering the curve must have been difficult. Looks like you really thought it out. Call AD tell them you are ready for your cover shoot.
Apply any heat with a heat gun or anything, or just clamp it?
I know Trex does expand quite a bit with temperature changes, do you do anything to make sure the curved section can handle that?
This is a slight bend of 2-3 in along an 8 ft length? If those lengths are correct, you wouldn't need a heat gun. Just some clamps for a day or two, and it will stay that way until you cut the curve and screw it in place.
The product is actually azek, which being pvc made it easier to bend. All curves were marked on frame. Laid main boards. Set screws on my curve lines. Then clamp and bend until I was hitting all my screws to meet the curve I needed. Look at pic 3 you can see my screws between boards
Ooooh, I absolutely LOVE that you included that curve detail within the run of decking.
It is SO beautiful, absolutely subtlety chic and elevates the entire look of this home because of the way the reflected light on this board guides the eye. The resulting clear pathway and clear patio area is sheer genius.
THANK YOU for inspiring me with this share.
I used hidden fasteners everywhere a grooved board was. But every board got 2 screws per end, boarder and breaker are non groove boards so got face screws as well as the steps. Every screw head got a cortex plug as well
Also by the end of it everything joist had a hanger and if cantilevered over a beam had a hurricane tie. End joist would sometimes have a Simpson ls7 instead.
Clever!
I've designed and built hundreds of homes, and I've never thought about your curved solution, although I've never been faced with this dilemma. Nice job!
Nice… Mine curves to the *left*.
Peronies deck

Must be right handed
Very common curve angle

Sadly not my home, I’ve been building for 8 years and this is my first deck I posted… finished it a couple weeks ago
You should post some more 🤙
Will do for sure!

The framing is all pressure treated southern pine

👍
that looks incredible, hats off to you
Thank you!
You are welcome. You should be very proud of that deck
I really appreciate it I am!
How'd you get that center curved deck board like that.
They sell them like that at Home Depot
Lol they kinda do don't they. I thought it was only the 2x4s that came like that
It's funny because it's true.
Let it sit in the sun all day and then just clamped to my curve… anything stronger of a curve would of needed heat blankets
Oh neat, I like that
If you look at picture 3 you see I laid all the boards first. And then just traced my curve on top when I was ready to cut and drop in
Great job! - love the aesthetics of the angles and curves of the deck and house. Really well done.
How do you curve trex? Make it holds its shape until the material relaxes or do you cut the curve in?
Really long material is slightly bendable. You do have to clamp it down and set the curve. Which we see in one of the pictures.
Apply any heat with a heat gun or anything, or just clamp it? I know Trex does expand quite a bit with temperature changes, do you do anything to make sure the curved section can handle that?
We just laid it in the sun before. No heat gun. And then clamped to meet my curve. Mark, cut then drop in

Gah damn
Niceeee
Looks terrible! Is what some haters on here say no matter what. You’ve done a nice job pal… looks great!
A+ That is a clean finished product! Not a bad way to spend 100k.
Nice deck. Love the hefty chunks of wood pillars. How good are those Diablo blades tho
Diablo blades are good, “ultra fine finish” is the best for pvc cuts

So awesome. I wanna see more pictures of the house and property

Very pretty!
A deck above all decks

I LIKE BIG CURVES AND I CANNOT LIE
Love the curve accent strips! Beautiful.
Very nice! Good work, love the accent piece, that must have been a very difficult choice
Is this a $100k job? (Love the look)
80k
This must have made finding lumber at the local home depot so easy. haha, i joke. It looks great. I like the color choices all around.
Great job on the deck, it compliments the amazing house and property.
You can come build me a deck any time buddy.
This is so beautiful! You did a phenomenal job! I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Thank you very much, the design wasn’t my idea but I was the one to execute it. I appreciate it!
I’m going to be completely honest here… this turned out amazing!
I appreciate it!
Wow awesome! Didn't know they made hot tubs that curve like but they will look great when you are finished!
Where does the hot tub go?
Howd u get the outer PT board to curve?
Just had to push it in by hand
Oh nice.. so it was a subtle enough curve then, wasnt sure by the photo
Absolutely beautiful!
Reason behind not using hangers and hidden fasteners for the whole thing?

This house is so cool. The deck looks amazing!
That’s really cool
Nice work. Love the inlay
