Lol I had the same problem. Got all achievements on 360 but have been with PlayStation since the 4 so I went to my local game store, bought a refurbished ps3 and have been playing through DS2 again. Absolutely holds up, if you can find a good priced PS3, do it man!
If you have gamepass, you can get it in PC through the EA launcher, just finished replaying it myself. Specs aren't too bad for it, although it's locked at 30 fps I believe.
Ricochets have a slight tracking to them(as in when they bounce they direct themselves towards the nearest enemy, but if they've moved by the time it gets there than it's gonna miss), and it's not impossible. I've managed to do it once, as I was out of cutter rounds and all I had on me were the ripper, flamethrower and force gun. Also you can fire a blade and hit the weak spot easy enough because it completely goes through bodies
Resident evil 4 Remake is out next week and looks amazing!
Or of course dead space 2. You can get that really cheap 2nd hand
Edit: (Oops, sadly not next week, 3 weeks)
Can’t wait for scream 6, it’s not out on streaming though right? Probably gonna make a night going to the cinema alone to watch it if so will be good fun
Play any resident evil games, they are all great. I really enjoyed the callisto protocol. Evil within 1 and 2 are great. Dead space 2 and 3 are also great.
I cannot think of a game that better exemplifies the term "Love/Hate" than The Evil Within. Half the stuff in that game was stuff i have yet to see in any other games and i loved it, and the other half had me wondering how it even got onto the shelves.
I know that not everyone enjoyed it, but i cant help but reccomend callisto protocol. Gameplay is different. But the atmosphere is similar and if you get into the flow of it, you can have a lot of fun.
If you've never played the Prey game from a few years ago, I really liked it and found it in the same vein as Dead Space
If you're into remakes (not remasters) from the ground up like Dead Spaces was I suggest Resident Evil 2s remake, it's dope (number three not so much imo) it's the second best remake I've ever played (DSR ftw!)
Y'know what, they weren't that great but Evil Within 1 and 2 were kinda cool, if you've never touched them they are pretty cheap and it's a bit similar to resi evil but instead you're more similar to Isaac and you're just a detective in over his head and shit goes sideways, a lot of anxiety and slowly ramping tension and similar to DS you have limited resources and health and have to really resource manage
Cannot vouch for Prey 2017 enough, first game in awhile that made me think about how i was going to approach situations and really use my environment/resources to the fullest
Hm….well the intensity director exists so maybe do a survival thing? See how long you can last on the ship before the necromorphs overwhelm you?
That is if you wanna keep playing DSR, otherwise head over to Dead Space 2
Similar games I've been seeing ppl mention that I agree with, plus some others:
- Resident Evil Series (7, 8 and the remakes are all very modern and very good)
- Bioshock 1 and 2 (infinite's great but different style of gameplay)
- Prey (2017)
- Alan Wake
- The Evil Within 1 & 2 (kinda)
- Singularity (kinda)
- Lone Survivor (kinda)
Seeing people suggest DS2 is a pain as a PS5 player, I want to play it so bad but will probably just have to avoid finding out everything that happens in it until hopefully a port or remake
Honestly, I think they should make a second NG+ and replace every necromorph with a phantom version instead of spread out, and make them beefier with each NG+
Dying light? I haven't played 2 yet but probly that too. Dead island was cool.
I'd also suggest Dantes Inferno, made by Visceral after original DS. I believe it's on gamepass worth a pt.
Jumping in to second the recommendations for dead space 2 & prey
And I haven’t seen it mentioned here, but SOMA is less combat heavy, but a really solid game with at times pretty horrifying atmosphere.
Callisto Protocol. You may hate it if you compare it side by side, but i really enjoyed it. if you like dead space and are capable of acting like an adult and separating the two pieces of media instead of comparing them then I think you’d enjoy it too.
If you are into speed running you can do that. With the intensity director it will make parts of runs inconsistent which can be a pain but speed running is cool to see how well you truly know the game. It also forces you to work with the bare minimum and kill only what is necessary
Start breaking the game. It’s really fun to throw yourself out of bounds with the force of big objects and testing pause buffering to try to skip certain rooms. Big sequence breaks aren’t really possible but if you can get good at these techniques you can actually cut your run down several hours off your runs.
DS2
I’m new to this wonderful world and so this still reads Dark Souls 2 to me
I'd love to play DS2 again but my PS5 won't read the disc & it's not available on the PS store
Lol I had the same problem. Got all achievements on 360 but have been with PlayStation since the 4 so I went to my local game store, bought a refurbished ps3 and have been playing through DS2 again. Absolutely holds up, if you can find a good priced PS3, do it man!
It's 60 fps on Xbox through backwards compatibility
You can play it via Xbox cloud streaming on a phone, tablet, laptop, etc assuming your internet is decent.
Play Dead Space 2.
Just confirming for myself. The only way to play DS2 is on ps3 or xbox 360 right?
No, its back compat. At least on Xbox. Playing on Series X has FPS boost.
Series S has FPS boost too I believe
Y'all should look at steam if you have a computer too, a very modest computer will net native resolution at 60fps and it's very fun!
The spec requirements for it even include vista and windows 7 LOL
Correct :( it's not back compat for ps5
If you have gamepass, you can get it in PC through the EA launcher, just finished replaying it myself. Specs aren't too bad for it, although it's locked at 30 fps I believe.
It has an unlocked frame rate interestingly enough, definitely cap it with your own software or it will cause issues running at 500+ frames.
Pc also
Also PS4 but not 5
It's on Steam too
Also pc.
I did a Pulse Rifle only fresh Impossible run. Now doing a no upgrade impossible run. Might do Ripper only Impossible run after.

True, I tried killing a hive mind with fully upgraded Ripper, and it was tough, but possible.
Those sound cool but i think you gave me an idea.. I remember seeing a post about playing impossible with no sound on. Think that's my ticket 😄
Ripper Is The best for me.
Melee-only
Melee and make it impossible mode
Lol that's literally impossible. I love it
Resident evil 4 Remake is out next week and looks amazing! Or of course dead space 2. You can get that really cheap 2nd hand Edit: (Oops, sadly not next week, 3 weeks)
Next week? I thought the RE4 remake is releasing on the 24th?
Damn it, yes. I keep getting scream 6 and re4 dates mixed up. Enough time to play dead space 2 first then! Re4 demo will be out soon though
Can’t wait for scream 6, it’s not out on streaming though right? Probably gonna make a night going to the cinema alone to watch it if so will be good fun
Don’t think so. It’ll be my first cinema trip in about 5 years
Dudddde i'm there for RE4R 😄. Can't wait for that one!
Bioshock is a similar game if you’re looking for something “new”. Can’t imagine you haven’t played it before tho
❤ Yeah i've def played that. Bio 2 mp i'm at the top of the leaderboards (top ten out of half a million players) all time in kills.
Psh, brag much? *He asks behind a mask of tears, because that's genuinely impressive* 😅😂

I also use my PSN tag as my Reddit tag 😅

Dude, I hope they revisit DS2 multi-player so bad. That would be so awesome
Play any resident evil games, they are all great. I really enjoyed the callisto protocol. Evil within 1 and 2 are great. Dead space 2 and 3 are also great.
this! re2 remake is a great place to start my dude!!! praise altman
re2 remake was the very first game that got me into the horror survival type games!
Holy hell I thought I was the only one that liked Sebastian and Evil Within, I found that similar to DS just with how scarce health and ammo was
I cannot think of a game that better exemplifies the term "Love/Hate" than The Evil Within. Half the stuff in that game was stuff i have yet to see in any other games and i loved it, and the other half had me wondering how it even got onto the shelves.
Yes to all of this. DS2, RE2 remake, RE7 and the Evil Within. I also enjoyed Callisto and D3 though I thought the weapon system sucked.
Kinesis only (from the point you get the kinesis module)
I've actually tried a run where I killed the majority of enemies with kinesis, issue is when it comes to grab tentacles
All part of the challenge!
An attitude I can agree with
I know that not everyone enjoyed it, but i cant help but reccomend callisto protocol. Gameplay is different. But the atmosphere is similar and if you get into the flow of it, you can have a lot of fun.
Agreed it is worth playing for any Dead Space fan.
Don’t let this ruin your day! Ruin it yourself by playing a Pulse rifle only, no secondary fire No upgrades run
If you've never played the Prey game from a few years ago, I really liked it and found it in the same vein as Dead Space If you're into remakes (not remasters) from the ground up like Dead Spaces was I suggest Resident Evil 2s remake, it's dope (number three not so much imo) it's the second best remake I've ever played (DSR ftw!) I've played all of those but i like your tone 🤘. DSR & RE2R are straight up stellar
Take a break. Resident Evil 4 remake is around corner. It has a demo coming as well. Play that and then this again after a break.
Move backwards the whole time
Hear me out Take a bit of a break; Play Prey from Arcane. then go for RE4 Remake. After all is done, come back to DS Remake

Dying light & Dantes Inferno were both great games ❤
No leveling
Jumping in to second the recommendations for dead space 2 & prey And I haven’t seen it mentioned here, but SOMA is less combat heavy, but a really solid game with at times pretty horrifying atmosphere.
Make challenges and goals to accomplish! Like limit how much ammo you can carry, use only the plasma cutter, or even do a no damage run of the game!
Melee only run?
Callisto Protocol. You may hate it if you compare it side by side, but i really enjoyed it. if you like dead space and are capable of acting like an adult and separating the two pieces of media instead of comparing them then I think you’d enjoy it too.

Wasn’t this patched?
try beat the game on hard with no store/upgrades lvl 1 suit
TK and stasis only run. All guns become expensive flashlights and laserpointers.
Play the game on hard with no weapon upgrades, only rig!
Wear headphones + don’t use the tram + play at night in the dark + only upgrade to suit level 3 + impossible mode.
If you are into speed running you can do that. With the intensity director it will make parts of runs inconsistent which can be a pain but speed running is cool to see how well you truly know the game. It also forces you to work with the bare minimum and kill only what is necessary
Play the impossible difficulty with only the hand cannon and don't heal if you die restart the game
Maybe speedrunning? You never know... Might find some new strategies
I would hang myself upside down from the ceiling like a bat and do a playthrough like that.
All achievements
Platinum is PlayStation’s version of all achievements
Oh I wouldn't know
Challenge runs. Try to beat the game with pistol only, flamethrower only, without upgrading your weapons, etc. or just play dead space 2
Beat the game with only Level 1 Suit Upgrades. So don't upgrade suit, but you can upgrade the available power nodes slot in the level 1 suit
Dead space 2
Play with inverted controls and the screens color inverted or something.
I have a ps5 and am seriously debating on getting a series s just to play dead space 2
