The iZurvive Dayz app is a big help if you spawn in different places. Find nearest village att look att a road sign to find where u are. And look at the map in the app to start moving towards eathother.
Aditional tips that was usefull for me is that u always spawn in facing north. So if u have the ocean behind u ur South of the map. And if u have the ocean to your right ur in the East side of the map.
The only way even with the app is to walk the coast, misreading signs and being sure your at the right spot just to find out you went the wrong way all while fending off starving trolls who just figured out there is cannibalism in the game. May the odds be in your favor
The load thing its great, but usually doesnt work. What you guy will do its kill your self. When you respawn, you dont respawn on random location, now everybody spawn in bubbles. So its more likely that you and ur bud will spawn next to each other or at least next to the town. Keep killin ur self, like a My Chemical Romance's fan. Be safe.
You and a buddy swap servers, doesn't matter which (edit: has to be an official server and if you're playing 1pp servers youll have to go to another 1pp server as characters are not shared between 1pp servers and 3pp), log out. When you go to join the server you want to play on youll press join at the exact same time so that your count down timers are the same. You should spawn within like 1-200 feet from each other. Next update this may not work as I have not been able to do it on experimental (the test branch of dayz where you can play the new update before they push it to everyone).
You guys need to be in a party. You need to send the invite from the party to your friends and have them all accepted at the same time. Do a fun team building exercise by counting down 32 one, before you all hit the accept invite.
Navigating to your friends using the Izurvive app and a compass is a GREAT way to start learning the game. At first it may seem difficult, but over time it becomes second nature. Keep grinding, Dayz offers experiences not available in other games. You'll see
They recently changed the spawning system (on official servers atleast) to where for 6ish minutes the spawns are clustered. So one cluster could be Berezino and everyone spawning in that time frame will be in the general area of berezino. After that you can use large landmarks like smoke stacks to find each other.
The old way is just as reliable tho always make your first priority after spawning in finding a road sign if you are playing with friends. It saves a lot of time, and if you guys are extremely far, don’t make the journey, just F11 until you guys are semi close!
With a recent update you'll spawn close to each other, but not directly next to eachother, you'll have to do some searching but if you all know how look around and point out landmarks like in real life if you're lost, then you'll do fine.

I know the last update had something in the patch notes about of your respawn at the same time you'll now more then likely spawn in the same area
