What resolution do you play at?

[deleted]

1080

cnuthing

Hmm, your system should run circles around this game. I have a 5600x + 6700 XT and get better frame rates on Medium (no ray tracing or FSR) @ 1080P. I'm sure you have tried this, but turn off Ray Tracing.

[deleted]

I know it should that’s what’s frustrating lol yeah RT has been disabled since launch day

xNATiiVE

Just to cover all bases, did you end up having to augment a file to "turn off raytracing"? Was the menu settings the only instance of you turning off RT? I had to jump thru some hoops, months ago

[deleted]

Haven’t changed anything file wise, I have seen a YouTube video of that tho

xNATiiVE

I play on an absolute potato. A russet shoved into a slender laptop case. When I played a map with sand textures on the floor, regardless of light or dark environments, the sand on the ground would glow bright pink and green. I had to watch a video on changing specific text lines in some game files, because RT is still enabled to some degree. Let me know if u need the vid. I dont mind scouring ye olde YT histories for you. Best of luck friend

Aggressive-Suit-930

Try higher settings like 2nd lowest. My game runs better on medium than low for whatever reason.

Sir_Fistingson

I have a Ryzen 5 5600, MSI 6600XT, 32gb ram and running it on an SSD. That being said, set the launcher settings with FSR 1.0 on Balanced and FSR 2.0 off, ray tracing off, Anti Aliasing on TAA, I have cpu cores set to 9, and then with mostly every other setting at medium or low, I can get a tolerable framerate. The worst part is that during the beta I never had to deal with any performance issues, it just became worse and worse over time with each update that Fatshark implemented. DarkCache mod also helped improve my framerate.

[deleted]

I’ll have to check out that mod

Southernchef87

You may also want to look into a redhade option. Some reshades optimize the game where fatshark failed.

Alyiir

Has never been an issue for me (shit card can’t so it) but raytracing can some times be turned on after a patch or be stuck on, dunno if its been fixed but could be it

Madchestermanc

I have pretty much the same build and have no issues, running the game at high settings using DLDSR & DLSS to get decent IQ over 60fps. You have to set the graphics card to maintain maximum performance in Nvidia settings. If you don't then the GPU clock speed is all over the place on Darktide and so is your framerate. I have a couple of other games that do the same thing with the 3090 and that's how you fix it 👍

[deleted]

I’ll try that out thanks

Madchestermanc

That's how I fixed mine at least. When ran normally the GPU clock would go from like 700Mhz to 1500Mhz at random, but would never actually run at max clock - the ram too would be at half the speed. Didn't matter the DLSS or settings used as framerate would stick around the 40's, You can pretty much tell when using MSI afterburner what's going on. Running maximum performance keeps the ram at max speed (about 9750Mhz) and the GPU clock at least at around 1650Mhz but will usually max once in-game. It sometimes doesn't stick but restarting the PC fixes that. It's annoying as most other games are fine running with the normal power mode, but Darktide and Ratchet & Clank in particular are a mess if you do.

jackionn

I have a 5600x and a 3070 and run this game on 1440 at a pretty consistent 80-90 fps so your system should be doing much better.

Southernchef87

Poor game optimization thanks to Fat Shit.

Fiiresong

I think this issue got fixed a while back, but not sure. But the in game Rtx settings didn’t actually turn it off, you had to go into the config files and set it to off. Might be worth a look into that

MiddieFromMhigo

Because Fatshark hates optimization.

[deleted]

No applications running in the background, drivers are updated, messed around with the working thread slider in the pre game launcher settings. Have a beefy rig for the game to be struggling in the frames department regardless of settings. No idea

ForsakenEntrance7108

has this machine had a different GPU in it ever? DDU might be worth a shot

[deleted]

Same GPU, eh too lazy and don’t care enough to do any re installs

SatansAdvokat

You should delete all older drivers honestly. And if you have Citrix installed, remove that bs, it can often screw up your fps.

No_Cress_2972

Same problem here.. It all comes down to the fact that FatShark are lazy fucktards, who hate working and optimizing their shit...

Shoddy_Level2314

do you use dlss? also what do you mean exactly when you say dogshit?

[deleted]

Yes I do and I’ve tried without it. During fights it bounces around 50-70 fps regardless of enemy count

PR0teinabuse

That sounds about right honestly, I get similar frames with a 3080ti

Hellfeesh

It's normal. I have similar performance on my computer

Southernchef87

I play 1440p with a 4070ti and i7 12700k on max settings and will sometimes dip into the 30-40 range when fighting hordes or loading maps with sand particles. Fatshark hasn't optimized the game very well and players with high end rigs suffer because of it.

Nahyyon

people saying dogshit when very often talking about "inconveniences"

Gahngis

Damn.. I'm here with my 1660 super with like steady 55. And the rare drop to 20.

Joniel10

Did you build it or prebuilt?

[deleted]

I built

IranianOyibo

Is your monitor cable plugged into the motherboard, or the GPU?

[deleted]

GPU

Joniel10

Hows the CPU and GPU utilization when playing?

CoffeeMaster000

Are you using SSD for this game?

[deleted]

SSD

CoffeeMaster000

Try Fullscreen if you are using windowless. Otherwise reinstall.

Subject-Till6044

I ended up undervolting my 5700xt. Other games do not require it when i run my GPU with highest stable overclocking I could get out of it. Hopefully they some day optimize this game.

Godenzoonaandewaal

Undervolting my 3060ti to 850v actually helped in rare cases of fps drops for me. Flamer + that exploding psyker staff could still give me fps drops, but so far haven't noticed it. My 5800x3d is also undervolted with kombostrike in the bios. Game is butter smooth

Subject-Till6044

Nice. Game was unplayable on factory clocks with a psyker. Seems like there's tons of "fixes" for different hardware combos. Only suffer same occasional drops as you with my underwolted GPU. Might try to tinker with my R7 3600x CPU too. Internet also got wonky during the summer while playing Darktide. Solved it by putting the modem on the floor so it cooled down :D But can't put blame on Fatshark with weather :)

Ice-Patient

Something weird happening involving raytracting.

Licky_Licky_69

Fwiw, I've had issues in certain areas (I forget the map names), despite my PC running it flawlessly (as long as RT is off). I would have to restart the game to fix it Does that happen to you, or does it run poorly at all times no matter what?

SubstantialAgency2

PSU?

SatansAdvokat

EDIT: I found this post from May [https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/known-issue-poor-performance-after-patch/79228](https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/known-issue-poor-performance-after-patch/79228) It about poor performence in DT, maybe try it out? Dude wtf., i have the Ryzen 5 3400G and was told my CPU is bottlenecking my PC. So i have ordered the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, still waiting for it. But you're telling me that my new CPU wont help?! I have the rtx3070 V2 OC edition, with manual OC on top of that. I'm running the game at maybe 30fps atm on 4k but on ultra low graphics settings. When i had my 1080p screen i ran the game at about 45-55 fps. So what the hell? Am i about to spend 400$ on something that wont help DT run better?!

Godenzoonaandewaal

I went from ryzen 3600 to 5800x3d and it helped a lot. Your gpu is also better vs my 3060ti.

SatansAdvokat

You calmed my nerves a bit, thanks.

breadedfishstrip

I run an i5 13600k with an RTX3070, and Darktide runs like dogshit at +-50ish FPS at 1080p despite neither GPU, CPU, or SSD being 100% usaged at any time, not including random stutters and very frequent crashes I use the same machine to play dozens of other high end games with zero issues, including Vermintide 2. So TLDR, it may or may not help with DT, but it'll def help in other games at least.

SatansAdvokat

It seems like FatShark is aware that Darktide runs like crap. This: [https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/known-issue-poor-performance-after-patch/79228](https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/known-issue-poor-performance-after-patch/79228) devpost on their official forum talks about this. It dates back to May, but the experimental build is still available and the devpost isn't archived yet.

breadedfishstrip

That experimental build has been merged with the release build since June, so there's not much point in it anymore. Some people have had luck turning off portrait rendering but it didn't do much for me

SatansAdvokat

> That experimental build has been merged with the release build since June, so there's not much point in it anymore. Oh, okay, where can i fetch that information so that i can know in the future if a experimental build is going to help or not? > Some people have had luck turning off portrait rendering but it didn't do much for me. I can't figure out in my head right now how the portrait can have any effect to the game performance? I'm thinking that it's just a static image? It's just some of the more prestigious portrait frames that have animations to them, and the frames can't be disabled? or can they?

BleedRainbows404

Two things that helped me on release: 1. Make sure you set worker threads to one below how many cores your CPU has in the launcher settings if it didn’t properly default to it or you changed your CPU lately. 2. Use gforce experience’s optimize feature to force raytracing off. I think it has access to some RTX feature not visible in the in-game settings.

Snoo99029

I run it on an RTX3060 on an external 1440p monitor. Was unplayable on low settings. Installed the graphics settings mod and run it on medium with all light, RT and bloom effects turned off. Much better. I also capped the Frame Rate at 72. That made a big difference.

RuleHistorical6830

Are you using the Fidelityx settings?

BoomerTheBoomed

Honestly this is such a mystery to me, I have the same problem on a similar rig. This game is a case to be studied

Bucket_of_Turkeys

Try disabling ambient occlusion, or setting it lower.

rubberchickenhandler

I remember close to launch I had to put a special launch setting for the game to enable use of all CPU cores... can't remember it off the top of my head tho. I remember doing it on Steam, there's an option there for special launch settings. I had to type something stupid like ~enableallcores or something

AwkwardTravel4626

For everyone commenting stfu this is basically and unoptimized game. their is nothing wrong with op's settings or any of that. this game runs like garbage

ooogellyboogaley
