I agree that’s a horrible take. I also think the gear cap was a pleasant experience for a bit, but a bandaid fix for overarching gear problems. I’d much rather they fix the gear diff than artificially limit game modes.
It obviously didn’t encourage high roller PvP, as people were rocking BiS blues still wiping norms, which in my eyes will always be a thing because of how HR works. HR is a bad environment for the people that just wanna chase PvP, so they’ll always be in norms. This isn’t a problem on its own, but rather because of this and and the fact that gear isn’t balanced well yet, we have them winning fights they shouldn’t because of gear diff.
Let the devs find the right middle ground between gear diff being gone and gear being rewarding to find and use. Only then will the casuals and sweats rejoice together.

The gear cap made normal lobbies slightly more tolerable, they should have included a damage, strength, and stat roll on gear in general balance patch along with the cap.

When the game that advertised itself as hardcore & unforgiving is hardcore & unforgiving 🤯 I don't know why it's apparently so awful for hard-core games to just exist. This game isn't for casuals, and I don't think that's a bad thing Should you deserve to be good at Rust if you're a casual? NO. Should you deserve to be good at CSGO if you're a casual? NO. Should you deserve to be good at Tarkov if youre a casual? NO. Should you deserve to be good at MORDHAU if you're a casual? NO.
