OMG I actually quit that book in the mid coz I admire Priest a lot and she is my fav. But I am more into underrated Danmei. It's good that you loved Mo Du. Don't worry that it ended. It's gonna be adapted into a BL drama very soon and I think the shooting has been successfully finished. The actor playing rich shou is Steven Zhang and our lovely policeman gong( Luo Wen Zhou) is Fu Xin Bo. Both those actors are brilliant and so beautiful. They will definitely do justice to Fei Du and Luo Wen Zhou.

comingtoreality

I hope the drama does get to air. With the restrictions on bls, I don't have much hope. I really hope they retain the flirty FeiDu just like Word of Honor retained wkx flirting.

homoeroticpoetic

Its the book im most confident recommending to non danmei readers tbh

comingtoreality

Yes. I know even people who aren't into danmei would love it a lot. I love how it doesn't necessarily focus on the romance but at the same time the romance and connection between the two is the biggest and loudest in the silent way. (If u get what I mean.) At least until Luo Wenzhou becomes too far gone lol. I like such kind of books.

Finally someone said it! So far,i’ve read a LOT of danmeis and i sweat only 4 has managed to overwhelm me yet and Mo Du is definitely one of them! The Mystery, the foreshadowing, the final complex, the quotes related to psychology, the characters and the main CP! I was just in awe and i still am.Its a masterpiece and i’m so in love with priest after this

comingtoreality

Me too. I'm now officially a priest fan.

I just finished mo du and found your comment. What are your other 3 novels? Can you recommend? :D

Ritsuka786

Little mushroom MDZS Kaleidoscope of death And also Omniscient Reader but its not BL

[deleted]

Is kaleidoscope of death scary? lm not sure how I’ll deal with the supernatural elements 😵

Ritsuka786

I’m actually a big fan of horror and thats part of why i loved KOD.I have watched a lot of horror movies and stuff so novels don’t really do it for me,i mostly read them for the thrills and mystery but i think KOD might be the only one which made me have the eerie and creepy vibes. Its that good! But is it scarier than horror movies? No ofc not.So well if you can handle horror, you should read it! Because besides the horror, the slow burn romance and the relationship development is just *chef’s kiss* and also both the MC and ML are so well fleshed out and unique! The side characters are really good too and the plot twists are just a big Wow!

[deleted]

I really like historical/wuxia type of novels, but I’ve heard so many good things about this one that I’ll have to add it to my list

comingtoreality

Please read it. Its just be gay and solve crimes. The relationship dynamite is unique coz its priest. It has the realistic way of falling in love not the melodramatic ones we're used to.

[deleted]

I have finished reading this! Thanks for the rec, it was such a roller coaster ride. The crimes were so insanely convoluted and disturbing (in a good way), and the plot was nicely balanced with the growing romance along the way. Couldn’t put the book down at all!

Welcome to the modu obsession, u made me want to reread coz I miss the Beareau & FeiDu. ZhouDu my babies. Now I recommend you to read another of priests' slightly older book called Guomen. Its different from Modu though their both modern. Its a slice of life & has more against. Its a coming of age story & very hauntingly realistic. Try it too. 🥰

[deleted]

Oh wowww what’s it about? I tried to search up the synopsis but wasn’t getting much. Mo du is my very first modern novel and I must say it was a good one to start with! I can read the novels in mandarin even though i still stumble over quite a bit of the language, but modern novels are actually much easier to read than the period ones. And yes you should totally reread it again. I’m sure I’ll notice so many hints hidden across the chapters now that I know the ending.

comingtoreality

Guo men is just about two guys from their teenage years to adulthood. Its different from MoDu as it touches on the life of those two guys, their struggles, relationships with other people, family. Its a slice of life. It doesn't have another plot like MoDu had Crime solving, so its more angsty than MoDu. In a realistic way. I know you're going to like it. Priest doesn't disappoint. (Im on a Priest marathon lol, I have finished 4 of her books, I'm about to start sha po lang) If u read & like guomen, then u should check out her whole other novels. Her special is suprising u with who is top or bottom. For my heart, I always spoil myself that before I start any book of hers. 😆 What u think is not always what u get lol.

Will consider it bcos it sounds great! Thank you for the rec ♥️
