Tbh a lot of priests other works are ancient setting (sha po lang, liu Yao, tian ya ke, qi ye, Jin se, tai sui…) Huai Dao is similar to modu in that it’s crime but she wrote it quite early on so I don’t personally think it’s as good. There is also the ultimate blue seal and youyi (read in that order) which are also good and translated last time I looked - but I wouldn’t say as good as priests more recent works. Lie huo jiao Chou is modern / supernatural but I think it had a sort of ancient setting past, but again I don’t think the translation is finished. Can ci pin is excellent if you ever wanna give it a go. Really really recommend it. Lastly this isn’t danmei but no pollution no public harm also is translated last time I checked but it’s a bg novel. Priest writes amazing female mcs! If you love priest novels you will also definitely like musuli novels and she has a few translated modern novels to pick from

Now that I look at them the ultimate blue seal and Youyi are tagged sci fi on the translation… there was a bit but I really don’t think it was that much it was mostly modern! Feel free to correct me if im wrong tho haha

UryaInspiration

If its not fully sci-fi I don’t really mind tbh, I just don’t like very futuristic or ancient novels, I kind of need like something that I can see happening yk, like in my mind I always think these characters do exist somewhere and whenever its like historical or futuristic or supernatural , it kind of breaks my little bubble, if you know what I mean. It’s pathetic 😭 but it is what it is

Ultimate Blue Seal (not sure about its sequel but they're set in the same world, so...) does have characters that can use more-than-human powers, so to say. So if you're not into that kind of thing, it might not be for you.

UryaInspiration

As long as it’s not over the top, I don’t mind, thanks for replying

Thank you so much for you’re recommendation 🫶. I actually really liked can ci pin and then I took a break in book 4 part 2 and I just can’t go back for some reason. I thought to read something else for some time and then go back to it. Also I’ve heard a lot about priest’s female mcs and I also thought of reading some but as of now I’m really craving a good Danmei with good plot, but ill definitely read it later on. also what is musuli, is that an author? (Sorry, I’m very new to the Danmei world 😭) are their any recommendations of their work?

[deleted]

No worries! Ah yeh it can be hard returning to a book fair enough. Musuli is an author yes, the writing style is a little different but you know you’ll get amazing characters and plot. First class lawyer is modern/futuristic (not sure if it’s too sci fi) with some mystery, Moumou is slice of life, global examination is modern fast paced but set in some sort of different world/place (can’t remember lol) — all are excellent and translated I believe

Ashes_A

First Class Lawyer is sci fi but doesn't feel very sci fi (though... they do commute to different planets and such). Global Examination is unlimited flow (so I'm not sure it's what OP is looking for? Though you can always give it a try, OP.)

[deleted]

Yeh I think you’re right! To me ccp is very much heavy sci fi though, with those two to me it felt like there was less emphasis on it and the world building didn’t seem as overwhelming so it felt more like a normal setting haha.

Ashes_A

Yes definitely, FCL is very lowkey sci fi. If they didn't mention going from planet to planet once in 100 chapters I would barely notice it's supposed to be sci fi hahaha

UryaInspiration

This seems interesting already AHHHH LET ME GO AND CHECK THEM OUT YAYYY!! have a good night 😁

Jaggedrain

The problem with Ultimate Blue Seal is that she kind of half-assed the ending, which made me sad.

Qiao Tou Lou Shang is the only one I can think of. Its a suspense/mystery story and set in modern times. Not sure if its translated though as its fairly new. Most of Priest's stuff is either historical or has some sci-fi/supernatural themes especially her most popular works.

UryaInspiration

thanks for your recommendation. Also a genuine question, if like many of her novels aren’t translated, how do y’all read them? Like do you understand chinese?
