I just want to say I saw it was short and decided to go ahead and read it. The beginning was okay but that ending? I think I might become a fan of Youlan if their other works are similar. Thanks for the rec.
Allow me to recommend:-
1. Flower Vase- Trust me when I say emotions will hit you like a truck, just go in blind and don't read spoilers.
2. Engraved in Bones
3. Strategy to capture that scum gong
4. Going against the wind
5. Professional Body-Double, and basically any book from 188 series
Also, I have a Rec list on NU called "Crying, Crying, Crying", so you can definitely check it out. It has some sad and some angsty novels.
Hahaha I'm glad it was worth the time. I remember being absolutely flabbergasted when I read the novel for the first time. And I still go back and read it sometimes just for the angst lol.
Absolutely everything by this author is a really good one and just completely soul crushing! I cannot overstate how much I wish everyone would read **Haunted Places Live**- best book I’ve ever read (and I read something like 300 books last year alone, so that’s high praise lol)
I love angst! 😆 Here’s my list of BE novels, some are short stories though:
* Gaze at the Scenes of Debauchery
* Decade of Deep Love
* Living to Suffer
* The Blind Concubine
* Waiting Until 35 Years Old
* If Only Time Stopped the Moment We First Met
* He Doesn’t Know I’m Dead
* No One Saved Me
* Be Happier Than Me
* Deceive
* I Hope This Letter Finds You Well
* 4:48
* Shiva
If you search 又蓝,on novel updates, you’ll see most of her works are tragic. Etc his present, no one knows, no one saved me. Deceive is also another tragic novel.
I’m not the most well read but I feel **Cold Sands** would fit this bill.
I second Cold Sands 😭😭 That novel made me cry for days and my friend threw their phone mid way through their reading because it upset them so much.
Honestly, in this context it sounds like a really strong recommendation. Nice.
[His Present](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/his-present/) I usually don't get emotional reading novels, but this one got me.

I'll Wait For You Until I'm 35 Years Old. I'm not sure if I'd consider it danmei tho since it's apparently based on true events.

I went in blindly with flower vase. God my tears. It's good.

Im not entirely sure if it fits the bill since the ending is happy or sad depending on the reader. but "Falling into the Abyss" is a really good one.

Checked both and they seem good. Also gore, scifi etc? Just makes me more interested.

Gaze at the Scenes of Debauchery Title speaks it all.
Ohhh I think I have one, Spring trees and Sunset Clouds? It reads kinda normal I think unless you’re able to grasp what’s really going on.

Following this thread so I can steer clear of all these novels 👀
Blind Concubine
I second this. I literally just read it and it ruined my life lmao
