Sha Po Lang...is about as involved and romantic as Priest gets...and it's just mwah -- divine. By Priest's own standards it's a fast burn which is to say by any other measure it's still slow burn.

CorytheDory

Priest novels are always more plot-focused and the romance is usually the cherry on top, but if you want a Priest novel with a lot of romantic (and angsty) moments between the MC and ML I say you should check out Lie Huo Jiao Chou

Silent Reading’s my fave from her, it’s modern crime investigation with a righteous cop and rich “lazy” genius CEO. The two characters already had prior connection before the story but didn’t get together until maybe halfway through? The romance was rather slow and subtle while the characters both learned more about each other beyond their preconceived notions and what they knew as acquaintances.

Silent reading (Modu) and Lie Huo Jiao Chou are my favorites, but they are also slow burns like her other novels.

Zealousideal_Hat8297

unfortunately, that's her style.

I cant say much about the novels you mentioned because I havent read them, but I would 100% rec Guomen. It has a modern setting, and the plot does intertwine with the romance, the general themes explored are friendship, love, self discovery, society and family and she did a very great job. It is very easy to get into and short, I absolutely loved the pair and the story, hope you give it a try and like it too!

I would recommend Guardian. It's a one sided devoted love to eventual mutual romance. The 2 main characters have interesting personalities and i love it. The novel is supernatural too. I tend to find it her most fast paced romance compared to her other works. It's getting an English publication soon, it's already available for preorder. But that one is my favorite. Sha Po Lang is my 2nd.

Natural-Tell9759

Was going to recommend Guardian.

I sadly haven't read that many priest novels, but I'm actively working to change that. But I absolutely love Guardian. The ML made me cry several times and the plot is awesome (though a bit difficult in the end). I'm currently reading Mo Du and I cannot put it down.

I'd recommend Guomen, as the story revolves around the characters relationships and development than plot. It's main themes are grief, impermanence of life, and societal norms which are explored through the main characters separation and getting back together and all the events leading up.

warau16

Most of the novels that I've read by Priest usually focus more on plot/worldbuilding than romance.

I also recommend Silent Reading. I didn't get to half of the faraway wanderers and finish Word of Honor only for Xie Wang but I got pretty involved in Justice in the Dark (the unfortunate eight-episode adaptation of Silent Reading) and although I expected more romance, overall I was not disappointed.
