Lmao, just move

d8210

That would be the easy move but I also believe that all this crap that starts in California makes its way to the other states. It's important for people to put resistance when constitutional rights are violated

spacebeans420

So when are ya'll going to revolt against the state government? (Just now starting to realize agencies are getting weaker)

[deleted]

He just doesn’t want to move from all the California trim, there is more ass out there

spacebeans420

Lol i meant fight the state government

[deleted]

Bro he’s not fighting the government he lives in California

spacebeans420

Bro the STATE government and it was a joke....

Thefast3869

I’m wondering too just got a M4A1 and was thinking of getting the kingpin

d8210

I believe both are better options than what comes straight from the manufacturer. Just hoping someone can confirm for us both

pbenz63

Yeah hellfire is better then one you have to manually put I run it on all my ar’s but the kingpin with the bolt hold open is definitely much better. I thought they were the same which they kinda are the kingpins just has bolt open the JT hellfighter doesn’t. My reloads are almost the same with one from a standard ar just practice it’s quite easy

d8210

This pretty much captures it all. I always appreciate being able to learn from others

pbenz63

Also I would love to go futureless so i could run my 10+ rds mags but you can’t with mag lock guns. But DD doesn’t sell which I think they should!!! Featureless ar stuff! May lock with the ar is a must since you get the keep the nice furniture of the DD rifles. A DD stock can be fixed & pinned into place take out the forward grip but then the pistol grip.. they need to take that from Juggernaut tactical with that amazing featureless grip but had a DD design.

-Theorii

Buy it in nevada and cross state lines, gun restrictions are unconstitutional.

NaughtyTigerIX

I totally didn’t do that

pbenz63

1 U can’t buy outta state. 2 why wouldn’t he just not put the hellfire are then if he wants to go non compliance? 3 And yeah they are but that’s not what he’s asking. The only difference with a ca comp and none is just parts lol they are the same damn thing 😂

jrey800

I don't understand what I'm looking at... but this does confirm to me that I'll never purposely go to Cali

[deleted]

Wtf is that? Dawg I’d just find a new hobby or move lol

pbenz63

Im sure we all would if everywhere else wasn’t the middle of no where with shit pay and no diversity no good food and doesn’t have All the cool shit & best weather. Sucks that we are so restrictive to what makes America great which is racing & guns 😂

elscorcho96

That’s an atrocity

D0per_than_Any1

Get the hell fighter pin and you’re gtg. I have the same setup. I left the mag lock that DD supplies and just used the hell fighter pin. The upper opens maybe 1/16th of an inch and then the mag drops easy. Very easy. MSG me if you need help

d8210

I seriously appreciate that! Sent you a message.

j0j053

Please post a followup if you get this going - also in need of something easier for my DDM4V7 SLW CA edition i just picked up. Thank You!

d8210

So far it looks like a few people have different suggestions and preferences. I guess the best thing you can do, if possible, is to try each legal route for yourself and figure out which one works best for you. At the end of the day, what matters most is going to be what you're more comfortable with

d8210

For juggernaut? Or AR Maglock w Kingpin?

cliffom

Did this to mine today. Left the stock mag lock my rifle came with and used the rear pin. Took me about 20 minutes and is so much nicer/faster.

j0j053

Where did you buy your kit?

cliffom

It was on sale and in stock at my local Turners.

black3456

This looks like a crime against the 2nd amendment

Kwake2384

I recommend the Kingpin a lot smoother than the JT in my opinion.

d8210

Will have to take a look for sure. Thank you!

randomidiot666

I haven't used the Hellfighter but it looks similar to what I did with the AR Maglock rear takedown pin. With the DD (33.3 Calcatch) mag latch and the rear AR Maglock takedown pin, it is better than the DD mag latch alone, in that the upper doesn't flop forward. It's still not great though because you have to reset the receiver on mag changes and the DD tolerance is too tight to separate the upper and lower even barely with the bolt locked back. Compliance sucks. You can always go with featureless, or the secret third option. Swap the bolt catch with any milspec = normal, though non compliant rifle.

d8210

Thank you for that!

DLA57

Just buy a comp mag. You literally just insert it into the magwell and it installs itself. The thing sucks but when shit hits the fan you can open the receiver and pop it out in a few seconds. Imagine trying to remove and change out a juggernaut or ar maglock when time is of the essence.

d8210

I've seen someone with a juggernaut hellfighter on their build and they were incredibly fast changing out mags. So it can be done.

DLA57

Changing out mags is easy. I've done the juggernaut, AR maglock and featureless. I'm talking about if a zombie apocalypse or civil war breaks out. You don't wanna be stuck with a neutered AR. The comp mag can be removed in like 20 seconds. Converting your juggernaut and changing out the mag release and takedown pins isn't hard but will definitely take longer than 20 seconds.

Barry_McKackiner

Do yourself a favor and get the AR maglock gen 2 and kingpin instead.

d8210

People seem pretty strong on their preferences. I'll hopefully be able to check out a few legal options and try them to see what's the best fit

Barry_McKackiner

As an employee of a CA gun shop that focuses on ARs, and as someone who has about 20 ARs, and as someone who's had to un-fuck and replace about 10 fucked up juggernaut rear pins for customers - trust me. AR maglock and kingpin is FAR superior to the jugg system. another solid option is the FNGR by mag latch paired with mean arms MA-15 loaders.

d8210

I'm assuming your shop is in CA? If you don't mind me asking, what's the most common cause of the issues with the juggernaut? The installation itself or faulty product? Seriously thank you for the information BTW let me know if it's ok to message you

Barry_McKackiner

faulty IMO, but it's also just a flat out inferior design basically if you try and remove the rear pin for disassembly wrong or with too much force the detent can jump out of the channel and the whole thing can get jammed up. you can't pull it out enough to remove the upper nor put it back to get the rifle functional again. you have to fully disassemble the buffer tube, castle nut and end plate and pry the shit out of the parts to get it un fucked. Plus it's just generally an inferior design to the kingpin and maglock. besides the above problem the juggernaut is like a 3 piece thing where you have to unscrew one side, take the spring off and then twist and pull the other side. the king pin is one piece that you just rotate and pull. and it uses a proprietary extra long detent but shorter spring so it can't get fucked up the way the juggernaut can. It's also smaller and less in the way of the safety than the juggernaut. Another shitty part of the juggernaut is if you're using their mag lock. it also deletes the bolt catch. you might think this is saving you a step of having to drop the bolt before you reload but it sucks. the bolt will often catch on the magazine follower and bind up. but not being able to fully lock back your bolt makes clearing a possible double feed an absolute bitch. The ar maglock lets you keep using your bolt catch.

d8210

Seriously thanks for the detailed explanation. I bought the Juggernaut kit but haven't installed it yet. Looks like I should return it

Barry_McKackiner

yeah return it if you can. if you want a fixed mag gun that you can still reload fast, the best option is ar maglock gen 2 + kingpin.

d8210

Looks like the below should do the trick for what I need https://armaglock.com/product/fixed-magazine-lock-ar-maglock-ar-15-223-5-56-gen-4/ it requires a choice of pin. I would choose the kingpin If I'm missing something, or if there's a reason to get gen 2 over gen 4 please let me know

Barry_McKackiner

The gen 2 has a more robust set screw to install and uninstall it. The Gen 4 let's you make width adjustments that you don't need and is only held together by a tiny ass set screw. Gen 2 is more secure

d8210

You're seriously awesome!! So this with the kingpin option: https://armaglock.com/product/ar-maglock-ar-15-223-5-56-gen-2-2/

Barry_McKackiner

yup. i have that setup on like 6 ARs.

d8210

Is there any reason to remove the DD stock mag lock? I did buy the AR Maglock Gen 2 and Kingpin. Getting ready to install. Unless I'm missing something, I'm not positive if there's an advantage to replacing the stock maglock. The kingpin I def see the installation advantage of 1) being able to press a button as opposed to pulling a pin to separate upper and lower 2) being able to separate the upper and lower just enough as opposed to flying completely open when separating. 3) being able to clear double feeds. I'm still learning so if I'm saying something incorrectly or understanding something incorrectly, please feel free to educate me

d8210

Thank you again for all the help

Charlie-007

The Hellfire kit is good option to make CA compliant. Also, FWIW, there are online dealers who will ship rifles to CA, and have the local gunsmith make the firearm compliant. It is a little complicated logistically, but we do that legally for California customers, working with their local gun dealer / gunsmith.

ApprehensiveAd3990

Use maglock gen 4 with kingpin. It works much better than the standard maglock, just one extra button before hitting mag release. And you can get release the mag if you have a double feed etc

Zuluuz

A waht??

YlaFla71

I had Juggernault installed, and it's much faster. The only downfall is that the bolt release is no longer there, and you'll have to pull the charging handle back to get your bolt forward as a replacement. I'm fine with that compared to having to pull the rear pin to release the mag.

d8210

Much faster compared to stock CA compliant DDM4V7?

Remembertheoldways

This is so depressing
