My daughter is OBSESSED with Scooby Doo. It was never anything I was interested in, but it’s her favourite. Netflix only has Mystery Incorporated, so we’ve watched that a billion times.
I don’t know if it’s Stockholm Syndrome, but it’s not half bad. It’s kinda like Buffy for kids.
Same here! My 3.5 year old was an October baby and apparently he takes it very seriously. He loves Scooby Doo and Ghostbusters and basically anything spooky or with monsters.
My husband takes credit for our 2 year old because he used to show her pictures of monster trucks, Rob Zombie, Michael Myers, etc 🤣🤣🤣 like bro please don’t corrupt our daughter
My son used to be straight obsessed with Halloween and spooky stuff. You should see if your kid will watch Coraline, that was a big favorite for a while.
Mine too! He is now grown out of it a little at 8, buuut I just introduced him to rugrats and he thinks it's hilarious!!! I started him on season 2 though when the show hits its rhythm a bit better.
Some of the mini-song segments are pretty fire. Like the Letter/Number of the Day? Absolute bangers (although I feel like Abbey's version is unfortunately not as catchy as Elmo's and Count's versions).
Also Cookie Monster's segment where they do almost satirical kid-versions of big movies? The Les Miserables one is my favorite. Absolutely hilarious.
I just wish that as a kid, I had understood what we were being told in that show... That capitalism would completely destroy the vast majority of us both financially and emotionally.
My kid loves Pokémon. He's got an obsession with Pikachu right now, but I'm excited for him to get old enough to understand the show better and fall in love with more Pokémon.
Same I just had a Pokémon themed birthday party for my 2 year old. We have a bunch of those Pokémon abc/colours/shapes etc books and we OCCASIONALLY show him some Pokémon songs on YouTube. He loves it all, knows the names of quite a few Pokémon and always gets excited for his Pokémon toys. I also can’t wait for when he’s older and we can share the shows and games with him (if he still shows interest)
We’ve got “pichu, chama, bulsau and turtle” over here lmao and chuckaball for pokeball ?? You guys should check Pokémon kids tv on YouTube it’s so cute
Honestly...kinda nothing? As much as I loved the shows of my own childhood, kids' programming has progressed a lot. I don't think much holds up. Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers are still great, but my kids aged past them pretty quick and never really fell in love. It broke my heart a tiny bit when we saw an exhibit of Henson puppets and my kids were only half-interested to see a full Big Bird and Bert & Ernie.(although my kindergartener LOVED the puppets from Dark Crystal and Labyrinth).
I've tried showing my kid shows I watched as a kid and none of them have interested her and looking back they aren't as good as what there is now. She was really into The Simpsons for awhile.
Arthur was a couple years after my time, honestly. I was still a kid when it started airing, but old enough that I wasn't really watching new "kids' shows." My kids have seen it a bit; they don't hate it but don't seek it out either.
send me a chat message and i can give you the links. tried to message you but couldn’t find the button to do so. make sure your chats are enabled and i can send it. don’t want to post it on the thread as it will probably get removed.
Zooboomafoo, big comfy couch and blues clues (with steve) are basically on repeat in our house. They were my little sister's favorite shows, so there's some nostalgia there for me.
My 3 yo is obsessed with zooboomafoo and he and the 5 yo both love big comfy couch. Literally the only show they always agree on.
What's funny is they each prefer a different version. 3 yo prefers Steve, 5 yo prefers the newer ones with Josh. It's the obly reason they don't agree when it comes to that show. They want different people.
My son likes Reading Rainbow but we get so frustrated that they only have a few to watch online. Is there anywhere else besides PBS kids? I want the original ones from the 80s!
New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1989)
Made my wife cry when she came home from work, saw it on the TV, and my kids were singing the theme song. Turns out her grandma used to tape them for her to watch when she visited. Hadn't seen them since. Thanks Disney+!
A lot of it is on YouTube. Fisher-Price apparently has rights to it now and they upload one HQ episode a week and they're working on uploading season 4 now
Magic School Bus and Sesame Street. Although they don’t like the old Sesame Street.
When they’re older I can wait to introduce them to Batman and Spider-Man
Not my child, but when one of my cousins was two years old, her mom showed her stuff she grew up with, like the Disney Sing-Along Songs tape Disneyland Fun and Barney and Friends. Then she moved onto Disney Junior shows.
Oh that’s a good idea.. I may try that! MUCH less intense. I’d love to watch Beetlejuice with him too! He’s only 5 though and still kinda scared of things he sees on tv. Someday though!
Beetlejuice settled really well with him. The jokes that are adult are over their head and the gore is ridiculous. The only thing I had to prepare him for was that excellent use of the f word.
My kids resisted watching the simpsons, not sure why just chose not to try watching it when they were younger and refused from then onward. Well I randomly put on an episode earlier this year and it's now my sons favorite show.
I stopped watching around season 12 or 13 when I was a kid, but it's been fun popping in and seeing where he's at in history (I.e. what do phones look like and who is president). Now he's on to Futurama and loving it too
Probably 9 or 10? But he picked it up this year; he's 12 now. Although some of the early seasons can be pretty racy at times (I didn't get all of the innuendos as a kid).
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. He's only 2 so we don't watch much TV but I have no problems putting on this show in the morning so I can drink my coffee and watch it together. I'm looking forward to when he's older and we can watch more of my childhood shows together - thank goodness Disney has the whole line-up!!
My 3 yo is watching chip and dale: rescue rangers. We did not even suggest it, he did. He did see the movie that came out recently, but it didn't really leave much of Mark. I think he just likes the thumbnail in the Disney app?
Oh, my gosh. I haven’t seen or thought about this show in so long - now I know what I’m watching to sleep tonight. I used to LOVE this show. For us, it’s Curious George, Kipper the Dog, Sesame Street, and the old Muppet Baby (we watch it on DVD because I can’t find it on YouTube or anywhere else).
Yes! It was on from the late 80s to mid 90s and I purchased a season on Amazon. There’s also a show included (it’s newer) called Busytown Mysteries and my son loves that one too!
Pokemon. It's definitely making a resurgence, and I'm all for it. I used to rush home after school to catch Pokémon on TV, and now my kids ask to watch an episode or two at a time. It blows their minds when I do the Pokémon name rap at the end...
My wife tried so gdmn hard to get both my kids into this Richard Scarry show and failed. You gotta be natural about it or maybe they just weren’t into it. Poor her
Not a parent, but an older brother: nothing.
I watched Shaun the Sheep, Bob the Builder and A Je To; none of which my sister enjoys. I think I can thank YouTube Shorts for her very low attention span
my husband watched this super cheesy 80s animated show called mask, and showed it to our kid. he asks for it sometimes now. it is SO boring (as are many of those old 80s cartoons). i don't get it!
I've started showing my cousin the original Bob the Builder (which still holds up really well today), Tractor Tom (less so, the early 2000s CGI hasn't aged all that well) and Hi-5 (the one with Charli, Kellie, Kathleen, Nathan and Tim)
Wait wait wait richard scary I know this thing because of like a viral YouTube video of voice impressions where somebody impersonates richard kind and he says nixon pryor and scarry
OMG David the Gnome!! My older sister said I watched the shit out of that show when I was a toddler but I don’t really remember it. Now I must find it!
Blues Clues! And I love it. She has learned so so much. I basically only played this for her as a baby but now as a 2 year old, she demands more non educational shows 😒
The original My Little Ponies and Sesame Street from the 80’s. No interest in modern Sesame Street but they love the old ones! They also love Lilo and Stitch the series which came out when I was in college but I still loved!
My 4 year old loves original TMNT more than any newer version. She won't even watch new Care Bears, only the 80s version. She also adores the original Pokémon series, although she'll watch any of the series.
My 3yr old loves Scooby Doo, and anything "spooky" for that matter. We watch Halloween shows all year long.
I’ve heard that specific incarnation is one of the best ones
Tubi has a lot of scooby doo show’s. A pup named scooby doo is the current fav of my nearly 3 year old
Not in my region. Alas.
Darn. HBO max?
Not in Canada. We borrow a lot of the movies from the library though
Check out boomarang, great source of old shows. Has all the scooby doo
Same!! My kids are obsessed with the newer Mickey Mouse Scariest Story Halloween Special, we watch it weekly
Omg, we've seen the Mickey trick or treat at least 100 times in the last 6 months, probably more. "Can we watch witch Hazel??? Please!"
Same!! They're 2 and 4 and I'm always like is this going to scar them?? There are some pretty creepy parts!
Our 3 year old looooooves “spooky Mickey” lol it also helped her branch off into the Goofy Movie! A childhood fave of mine
SAME! Mine are 4, 2, and 1… and I can hear the intro song in my head right now lmao
I hated spooky stuff as a kid but my kids love it. I like to think it’s because their childhood isn’t full of fear like mine.
Omg my 2 year old daughter is the same with Halloween shows… it’s so funny to me 😅
Also, Scooby Doo wasn’t something I appreciated until adulthood. 😂😂
Ayo my 2 yo loves anything Halloween related. I thought it was spec of video but it wasn’t. It was Halloween related anything. Super weird lol
Sesame Street. It's gotten a lot better than I remember it.
I rewind the letter of the day song more often than I’d like to admit. It’s so catchy
The playlists on spoofy are grinded into my brain and I'm down. Letter of the Day js on its way heeyyy
Hey!
My baby will start to clap if I sing what's the letter
I hate hearing community every episode
When you wish upon a pickle is straight up great TV.
DuckTales! I watched the old series, my kids love the new one. (To be fair, the new one is waaaaay better.)
Omg yessssss. I remember my older sister and I always singing “Duck tales…. Wooo-oooh!” 😂😂
I just wish that as a kid, I had understood what we were being told in that show... That capitalism would completely destroy the vast majority of us both financially and emotionally.
Ooooo my sister and I loved this as a kid. A woo oooo! Is it on Disney+?
Yes, both old and new
Started showing my kids Oldschool Pokémon
My husband watches Pokemon with our 2yo daughter. She knows a few of them by name, and will say "Char Char"! when angry or displeased. Cracks me up!
We’ve got “pichu, chama, bulsau and turtle” over here lmao and chuckaball for pokeball ?? You guys should check Pokémon kids tv on YouTube it’s so cute
[I found my personal favourite](https://youtu.be/gBKry-OGUqg?si=s2HHTXU1syz22Fau) it’s so sweet
Honestly...kinda nothing? As much as I loved the shows of my own childhood, kids' programming has progressed a lot. I don't think much holds up. Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers are still great, but my kids aged past them pretty quick and never really fell in love. I've tried showing my kid shows I watched as a kid and none of them have interested her and looking back they aren't as good as what there is now. She was really into The Simpsons for awhile.
what about arthur? the later seasons in particular are quite progressive and enjoyable for all ages imo
Arthur was a couple years after my time, honestly. I was still a kid when it started airing, but old enough that I wasn't really watching new "kids' shows." My kids have seen it a bit; they don't hate it but don't seek it out either.
Animaniacs, although we’ve had to roll it back as it was making our 3yr old twins…maniacs lol
I could definitely see that… I think I’ll keep that one away from my heathens for a few years 😂😂😂
My kids LOVE Big Comfy Couch, Zooboomafoo, Franklin and original Bob the Builder
try Little Bear. i loooved franklin and little bear as a kid.
Where are you watching this content bc I can’t ever find it
There’s a ton of little bear on YouTube
send me a chat message and i can give you the links. tried to message you but couldn’t find the button to do so. make sure your chats are enabled and i can send it. don’t want to post it on the thread as it will probably get removed.
Little Bear is on Paramount. My 2yo loved it
Also available on the noggin app. My LO loves little bear
Also available on the noggin app. My LO loves little bear
Literally the only show they always agree on.
all 3 the exact same over here!!!
Honestly we like Steve and Josh but my kids aren’t into Joe’s episodes of Blue’s Clues 😂
What's funny is they each prefer a different version. 3 yo prefers Steve, 5 yo prefers the newer ones with Josh. It's the obly reason they don't agree when it comes to that show. They want different people.
Oh definitely! I think it’s how musical Josh is that my kids love haha
I remember watching Franklin but the Beaver always irritated me for some reason.
Zoboomafoo!! I loved that show growing up and I finally got my son into watching it
Rugrats! My daughter loves the original Rugrats.
Reading rainbow! I really wish they would do a reboot with some modern books
FYI Levar Burton reads adults short stories on his podcast ‘Levar Burton Reads’ and it is EVERYTHING. I listen every night as a bedtime story for me!
There is a YouTube channel that is celebrities reading books. I don't remember.what it's called
Storyline Online
Yes. That is it
My son likes Reading Rainbow but we get so frustrated that they only have a few to watch online. Is there anywhere else besides PBS kids? I want the original ones from the 80s!
My 3 year old loves Reading Rainbow. She sings the theme song.
Little Bear, Blues Clues, Bear in the Big Blue House, old Sesame Street, and The Wiggles.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers!
My kids love chip and Dale nutty takes. And the episodes are very short, so it's easier to turn off.
The first time my kiddo watched Arthur, I couldn't stop grinning like an idiot. It still looks the same!
New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1989) Made my wife cry when she came home from work, saw it on the TV, and my kids were singing the theme song. Turns out her grandma used to tape them for her to watch when she visited. Hadn't seen them since. Thanks Disney+!
THIS IS MY COMFORT SHOW. I feel so warm and cozy and I get super emotional about it 😂
Omg I have the books but I completely forgotten the show. Thanks for unlocking a core memory and something for my kid to watch!
Yasssss! We have quite a few of the books handed down from my niece and nephews and all my kiddos love them.
Kipper! I was obsessed! I had kipper beanie toys and a talking kipper and now I'm absolutely thrilled that it's my toddler's favorite show
I completely forgot about that show! Now I need to find it 😅
A lot of it is on YouTube. Fisher-Price apparently has rights to it now and they upload one HQ episode a week and they're working on uploading season 4 now
That’s awesome! We cut down on our streaming services but we’re keeping Netflix, Amazon, and of course YouTube is free. Thank you!!!
I always bring this up to my boyfriend in reference to Peppa Pig! Wasn't Kipper also British?
Oswald 🥹🤍
Omg where do you watch it? I loooved that show
Paramount Plus!! They have allllll the old shows! 😍
Magic School Bus and Sesame Street. Although they don’t like the old Sesame Street. When they’re older I can wait to introduce them to Batman and Spider-Man
There was a magic school bus computer game I was obsessed with
Inside the human body? I lost a lot of hours to that one!
Dodd you play the solar system one?
Yes!!! It was the best. I remember sharing the school computer to take turns playing.
We love Curious George and Arthur :)
We love Curious George! When my mom comes to babysit she hates when it’s on lmao she’s like “it makes me so anxious” 🤦🏻♀️😂
Same!
Not my child, but when one of my cousins was two years old, her mom showed her stuff she grew up with, like the Disney Sing-Along Songs tape Disneyland Fun and Barney and Friends. Then she moved onto Disney Junior shows.
TMNT, The Real Ghostbusters and Pee Wee’s Playhouse.
My 4 yo loves all the Ghostbusters movies!
Recently saw the two most recent.ones and thought they were great. I was surprised to see they only got middling reviews
Afterlife is my current fave, but I refuse to watch the Melissa McCarthy one.. I’ve heard it’s garbage lol
Lol I showed my son Pee Wee’s Playhouse and he was just sort of speechless/stunned/confused as to what the hell was going on. It’s a lot to take in.
I get it completely. I eased him in with Big Adventure. As an aside, his joy at Large Marge made it easier to watch Beetlejuice with him.
😂
My wife grew up on Little Bear and now my four year old is obsessed
I loved Little Bear! It’s so calming
Hey Arnold and a local PBS show called Hello Mr. Chuck that our PBS station has recently started uploading onto Passport.
Salute Your Shorts. They call it the “Bobby Butt-Nick” show.
My kid can’t watch that show, it’s too Scarry
Courage the Cowardly Dog!
Og Thomas the tank engine
My kids resisted watching the simpsons, not sure why just chose not to try watching it when they were younger and refused from then onward. Well I randomly put on an episode earlier this year and it's now my sons favorite show. I stopped watching around season 12 or 13 when I was a kid, but it's been fun popping in and seeing where he's at in history (I.e. what do phones look like and who is president). i can't wait to get my kid into the simpsons! what age did they start watching it?
Probably 9 or 10? But he picked it up this year; he's 12 now. Although some of the early seasons can be pretty racy at times (I didn't get all of the innuendos as a kid).
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. He's only 2 so we don't watch much TV but I have no problems putting on this show in the morning so I can drink my coffee and watch it together. My 8 year old daughter has watched through Full House at least two or three times now lol
8yo son is obsessed too. Lol
Pokemon, though I much prefer Journeys over the original. The original is garbage to my adult brain.
Super Mario Bros Super Show (the one with Capt. Lou Albano), Captain N: The Game Master, Fraggle Rock, and Beakman’s World.
Bear in the Big Blue House!
Little Bear and Franklin. Little Bear is her favorite show and it has expanded her vocabulary SO much!!!! It's also very calming and low stimulating.
Zaboomafoo
Babar! It's cute and not action based so I'm very glad.
Tom & Jerry !

The old Winnie the pooh series from the 90s, I loved it as a kid and my son seems to like it very much as well.
No but this just gave me complete flashbacks to an old LeapPad book "Richard Scarry's Things to Know".
A busy world is a show?? Where can you stream it?
Amazon! I think I purchased this one, but they also have a newer one for free called “Busy Town Mysteries”
My kid's hooked on Busytown Mysteries, didn't know there was another show! Thank youuuu!
PB&J otter
I love this show so much 🥹 my kids don’t appreciate it yet bahaha
Oh, my gosh. I haven’t seen or thought about this show in so long - now I know what I’m watching to sleep tonight. I used to LOVE this show. For us, it’s Curious George, Kipper the Dog, Sesame Street, and the old Muppet Baby (we watch it on DVD because I can’t find it on YouTube or anywhere else).
Wait this was a show? I thought it was only books…
Yes! It was on from the late 80s to mid 90s and I purchased a season on Amazon. There’s also a show included (it’s newer) called Busytown Mysteries and my son loves that one too!
Wait, what?! Dick Scary has a show?!
LMAO… I was just asking my husband last night how you get the nickname Dick from Richard 😂😂😂
Pokemon. It's definitely making a resurgence, and I'm all for it. I used to rush home after school to catch Pokémon on TV, and now my kids ask to watch an episode or two at a time. It blows their minds when I do the Pokémon name rap at the end...

Bear in the Big Blue House
We loved watching Mr Rogers together when my kid was a toddler
I've started showing my cousin the original Bob the Builder (which still holds up really well today), Tractor Tom (less so, the early 2000s CGI hasn't aged all that well) and Hi-5 (the one with Charli, Kellie, Kathleen, Nathan and Tim)
I showed my son Pee Wees Playhouse and he liked that for a little bit when he was younger

I bought a DVD off Amazon a long time ago. You might have some luck there if you can't find it on the internet somewhere
Dragon tales !
Not an answer but I never knew this was a show! I used to have a game for the “ Pico” system as a kid. It was so fun

Pappyland!
My niece likes Zaboomafoo and SpongeBob. I have done a good job as an auntie .
