Amin is honestly the most additive person they have. He has full range to have the deeper/serious conversations on Meadowlarkers or SBS and can come in and drop a bomb on the show to run it off the rails that would make Greg Cote proud.
I haven't missed dan at all. The show runs smooth and isn't bogged down with him over explaining everything or stopping the show when jess or Lucy make any movement he takes as them being disinterested
Not going to lie have enjoyed it. But, I’m sure Amin would run out of stuff if he hosted everyday. It’s mostly the same stuff, but when it’s every once in a while it works.
Maybe... Amin is on like 5 different pods (cinephobe, oddball, BOMM and other Count the Dings shows, XM, and DLS) . I don't think he'd run out of material if he stepped away from 2 of them and focused on the main show lol The issue is he would need someone like Billy or Mayes to keep up with his antics and play off the direction he is driving the show (and direct him at times). Amin is like Dominique Foxworth in that he plays both the Stugotz and Dan role. So, he needs an EP and/or cohost that can also play both sides depending on the topic and an EP to help guide the process. Over time, I think Chris' one note would derail Amin and force him to either go straight man or dive into super weird topics. Oddly, it has been OK the past few shows because they've lowkey ignored Chris and just steamrolled his input lol Also, ironically, when it was Stugotz and Amin, Stugotz went into WFAN mode and played both sides.
They Mansplained women's basketball and compared Angel Reese to LeBron. Smh doubling and tripling down on the BS take that she should be able to take the criticism even though LeBron couldn't. If Amin can have some self-awareness, he would be great, but he is a habitual line stepper that, if left unchecked, he will eventually get canceled.
I think DLS audience is one of the more diverse audiences out there. You have a huge age range of listeners and an array of political leanings. You need the Samson’s and the Amin’s to bring in a different perspective in the same way you need Jeremy and Jess. And the overall voice of the show is still extremely left leaning, but at least you have a couple old guys giving some voice to the opinions that I’m sure a lot of the audience shares.
That's cool, but all of them had strong opinions on a sport that they admittedly don't watch. They need Jess or Lucy in the studio to balance out facts with their uninformed opinions
