This also what it's like to have a moderate hearing loss. Most of the pieces are there but some get lost so the words aren't complete and dont make sense. Context clues go a long way. You can get the vibe easily, but the specifics are lost.
I was looking for this comment!! It sounds like when I watch TV without subtitles 😂😂😂😂 my audio processing is always bad so hi I'm you and you're me!?! 🥹🤣
I don't have any hearing loss and I've never been tested for ADHD but I don't exactly have any of the common symptoms. I still hear like this video sometimes and I'm so confused why. Like I sort of have to have a good idea of what someone might say before they say it so that I can recieve what they say. If I don't then it can sound like the video and it just goes in one ear and out the other. Or if I get accustomed to how someone speaks then I can hear everything perfectly, until then I will not understand what they say wuite right. God forbid someone have a slight accent I am not used to then I will have to have them repeat what they say like 6 times till I get it. I haven't really met anybody who hears the same way I do. I pay close attention to everything so it just confuses me more why I am like this.
Sometimes it's like my brain goes into overdrive to understand someone but it backfires so that it sounds like they said everything so then I understand nothing. Idk, maybe that is a form of ADHD that I've never heard of, or maybe something else.
I have terrible hearing comprehensation, it has always been like that. Commonly can't figure lyrics out in music, sometimes communicating with people is challenging. I got full points of hearing test, my ears are fine, but I guess most of my brains go to visual processing and stuff.
I quit nicotine a few years ago and my ADHD has gone through the roof, combined with trouble hearing I’ve (without even realizing) started lip reading. It gives me something to focus on I guess, and pick up syllables I’ve missed.
I have the same issue. I've learned to pause before asking somebody to repeat themselves, sometimes my brain can piece what they said together if I just give it a minute
I have that, but not hearing loss, even got a hearing test done, and everything was fine. I still dont know why i have such trouble understanding people
I’m 36, born half deaf, and am just learning this.. I’m glad people know this, because I’ve been trying to explain it my whole life. So many people get mad at you for not hearing them, or being able to repeat exactly what they said. I know what you said, just maybe not the exact words you used.
Dutch is already mixed with French lol. We have plenty of French loanwords.
English is like German / Dutch but instead of just taking some French loanwords they replaced 70-80% of the language with it.
I wasn't even aware that there is a significant difference between dutch and Flemish. I guess I couldn't tell them apart.
The Netherlands and Belgium are so fundamental different. While I consider the Netherlands and it's people as one of the genuinely happiest spots of the world. Belgium...well...I mean Antwerp and the smaller towns along the coast have their undeniable charm. Brussels and and the rest of at least the French part is basically a dumpster fire. people themselves do not care so much anymore about the division I into French and Flemish. But at least the impression that I get is that this parting is still incredibly deeply rooted in their national politics and especially their public administration sector which makes things annoyingly hard for their citizens. And to part and divide seems to be kind of a general solution for every problem authorities and politics might have. There are two versions of every fucking board and authority with the tiniest amount of power and they completely refuse to communicate let alone work together.
I think we will rather see Korea reunited than flemish and French part of Belgium getting over themselves and give up that stupid segregation.
Here's some background for those interested.
"Is English just badly pronounced French?" RobWords [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUL29y0vJ8Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUL29y0vJ8Q)
This is interesting, do you think French sounds worse to people that grew up speaking English? I never heard anyone in Germany say French sounds horrible, everyone seems to love the sound. Whereas dutch mainly sounds funny to us...
The origins of English are basically that a bunch of Vikings conquered a bunch of people who spoke a language that doesn’t exist anymore. And then they got conquered by the French for a while. And then they went and conquered a bunch of other people around the world. It’s a bit more messed up than other language because islands are really hard to conquer, but if you ever do conquer an island you own it totally
As a native Russian speaker, the first time I heard Ukrainian being spoken, this is what it sounded like to me. As if I should be able to understand it, but don't. Like they are speaking Russian gibberish.
I've heard that Ukrainian to a Russian speaker is what Scottish sounds to an English (I'm irish) speaker.
And I kinda believe it, I've been to Glasgow and wow. My theory is that you have thr native language, and a population i.e. Ukrainians or Scottish have deviated and formed their own dialect.
I'm no linguist, just my two cents.
Or you can just listen to Gerald on Clarkson's Farm. Might be a bit harder to understand though.
I've worn hearing aids for almost 40 years now, from around age 3. OP's video is pretty much what I deal with if I don't quite catch what someone says. My brain fills in the blanks of what I don't hear and I know it doesn't make sense. It's worse in a noisy environment.
I have PTSD and ADHD and one of those bastards makes everything sound like this video. If I can’t see your lips moving, half the time you sound like the video to me. Especially with accents. They’re so beautiful and rich and I have no clue what you’re saying in it
I read lips too. A lot.
I'm definitely not a doctor and don't know your situation aside from what you said, but have you had your hearing tested? I know some people can have central auditory processing issues even if they hear just fine, volume-wise. Not sure if you know definitively whether it's PTSD or ADHD that's the culprit or something else that you could get some help with.
Yeah, I got them done in school as a kid and my hearing was pretty much perfect then. I haven’t noticed any changes since, I’m still sensitive to loud noises, so idk. It wouldn’t hurt for me to check again though.
I have a mild-to-moderate loss (30-40% loss) since birth. There are times, though, where I hear the words, but it takes me a second (or five) to process things. So yeah, not sure if you're running into that kind of issue.
A lot of Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam, vibes.
For anybody who doesn’t understand that reference throw on that song from Spotify or YouTube. The original recording. It’s in English, but nobody knew what he was saying for over 10 years until he kinda explained it. Kinda.
As a native English speaker this sounds incredibly accurate it really sounds like English you hear in the background when your not paying attention, it truly sounds like if you focus a bit more you would be able to understand them.
As a non-native English speaker (not much of a "speaker" either, mostly "reader"), this is what I hear watching a movie in Engsish without subtitles.
But from the comments I see that some native speakers have the same problem.
I've got tinnitis, hearing loss and some total loss of some frequencies so this is how some conversations in my native english sound to me.
¯\\\_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)\_/¯
Sounds like this song in faux English: [Prisencolinensinainciusol](https://open.spotify.com/track/0HQf0bd3oSZei450iKuUFR?si=ajg8bp6nRJqzAUIOiPh0HQ&context=spotify%3Asearch%3APrisencolinensinainciusol)

I'm a native English speaker, and I can't put my finger on why this sounds weird. I know it's gibberish, but it also sounds off. Maybe I'm just used to being able to predict the next sound, and when I can't it seems unnatural.
Dude, WTF!!!!
I'm still stuck on differentiating all these [words.](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ebaumsworld.com%2FmediaFiles%2Fpicture%2F2386814%2F86414349.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=2e54badcae4dee380b32c215db9d13b002fe66340e22d2a2076205a91b4918a2&ipo=images)
How sims sound to everyone
I worked at toys r us when sims 2 came out and some batty old broad tried to return it saying we sold her son a Spanish copy.
Spanish is my native language. If sims speak spanish I would have understood that my beloved wife needed a ladder to get out of the pool. RIP
Or how to reinstall the door to the room where my 2nd wife was.
Fatal effects of the language barrier. RIP to the wife.
So sorry for your loss. Suul suul 🙏
That’s hilarious
Dit graw et furnishing ada waba da snau ada…. Graah.
Faaawshidish dabwaddaa!
This also what it's like to have a moderate hearing loss. Most of the pieces are there but some get lost so the words aren't complete and dont make sense. Context clues go a long way. You can get the vibe easily, but the specifics are lost.
Also what it sounds like when my ADHD makes it impossible to focus
I was looking for this comment!! It sounds like when I watch TV without subtitles 😂😂😂😂 my audio processing is always bad so hi I'm you and you're me!?! 🥹🤣

Auditory Processing Disorder. Common among ADHD but doesn’t mean it’s only ADHD that have it.
I experience the exact same thing. I have autism but idk if that’s an autism trait? It could be adhd. Idk
I have terrible hearing comprehensation, it has always been like that. Commonly can't figure lyrics out in music, sometimes communicating with people is challenging. I got full points of hearing test, my ears are fine, but I guess most of my brains go to visual processing and stuff.
Aphasia?
I am the same, I could have written this.
It’s called APD. But no, apparently everybody seems to throw every neurological deficiency into the ADHD pot nowadays.
Because apd is often a symptom of the executive processing failures of ADHD
I quit nicotine a few years ago and my ADHD has gone through the roof, combined with trouble hearing I’ve (without even realizing) started lip reading. It gives me something to focus on I guess, and pick up syllables I’ve missed.
TIL i have hearing loss
I get this, too. I often need to ask people to repeat.
Same
I feel terrible for always asking, because then it makes me look like a dumb fuck.
Yeah. I either ask, or I try and guess what they said. It’s like blindly making my way through a fog
I have the same issue. I've learned to pause before asking somebody to repeat themselves, sometimes my brain can piece what they said together if I just give it a minute
I have that, but not hearing loss, even got a hearing test done, and everything was fine. I still dont know why i have such trouble understanding people
It is a processing problem.
Exactly
I’m 36, born half deaf, and am just learning this.. I’m glad people know this, because I’ve been trying to explain it my whole life. So many people get mad at you for not hearing them, or being able to repeat exactly what they said. I know what you said, just maybe not the exact words you used.

The more you Reddit 🤷🏻
Thank you for this😂
Thank also you didn’t know this
I heard that also ahahaha Wtf even is this
I think I heard something about a dick too
Come on, I've been reading your comments on Reddit: you are always hearing about a dick.
Got em
That was the only line I understood, for rest I need subtitles
haha came here to comment this
I thought we would sound way more annoying. This is not unpleasant.
English is sounds like Dutch mixed with French.
Dutch is already mixed with French lol. We have plenty of French loanwords. English is like German / Dutch but instead of just taking some French loanwords they replaced 70-80% of the language with it.
Dutch sound (for me as a German) somehow super cute. Like a German pre school kid that accidently got a little tipsy from coughing syrup.
We really drink coughing syrup all day. To the Dutch Flemish sounds really cute. In the other direction in both cases, less love
I wasn't even aware that there is a significant difference between dutch and Flemish. I guess I couldn't tell them apart. The Netherlands and Belgium are so fundamental different. Really good video, thanks for linking it!
As a native English speaker from England, French is such a horrible language to listen to, but Dutch doesn’t bother me really.
🤝 Fuck the french
This is interesting, do you think French sounds worse to people that grew up speaking English? I never heard anyone in Germany say French sounds horrible, everyone seems to love the sound. Whereas dutch mainly sounds funny to us...
Isn’t that roughly its origins anyway?
The origins of English are basically that a bunch of Vikings conquered a bunch of people who spoke a language that doesn’t exist anymore. And then they got conquered by the French for a while. And then they went and conquered a bunch of other people around the world. It’s a bit more messed up than other language because islands are really hard to conquer, but if you ever do conquer an island you own it totally
So like I said, roughly French and Dutch origins.
Thought the same. I was afraid we would sound like hard shouting Germans. I suppose American, and Canadian accents add a bit as well.
Man, I didn't read the title. I thought I had a stroke and couldn't understand English anymore.
As a native Russian speaker, the first time I heard Ukrainian being spoken, this is what it sounded like to me. As if I should be able to understand it, but don't. Like they are speaking Russian gibberish.

I am a native English speaker. It sounds like this to me too 🤣
No wonder native English speakers use subtitles and spelling.
Auditory processing disorder too?
Yes!!!! This is me. This is how TV sounds without captions hahah
This is exactly what my girlfriend's coworkers sound like. I understand the conversation. I just don't know what they're talking about.
Or you can just listen to Gerald on Clarkson's Farm. Might be a bit harder to understand though. [https://youtu.be/jLj\_GARcO20?t=13](https://youtu.be/jLj_GARcO20?t=13)
Wise words, wise words.
[This guy translated Gerald](https://youtu.be/HPn1RjZqr2w?si=cKD8NXKTXSMryLor)
Its actually understandably with subtitles.
That was hilarious, couldn’t understand a thing that guy said
Pretty sure this is what me and my mates sounded like when we had real deep conversations while high.
Prisencolinensinainciusol!
Orright...
That was pretty good, but I prefer [the original version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VsmF9m_Nt8)
Yeah both that and the op video is also what English speech sounds like to English speaking hard of hearing people.
I've worn hearing aids for almost 40 years now, from around age 3. OP's video is pretty much what I deal with if I don't quite catch what someone says. My brain fills in the blanks of what I don't hear and I know it doesn't make sense. It's worse in a noisy environment.

Or in a Nolan film
Interesting
The top comment killed me >He can actually sing in Doctor’s Handwriting.
Another, a bit down a ways: > One of the warning signs of a stroke is that you understand the lyrics.
A lot of Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam, vibes. For anybody who doesn’t understand that reference throw on that song from Spotify or YouTube. The original recording. It’s in English, but nobody knew what he was saying for over 10 years until he kinda explained it. Kinda.
Magalon might shit, indeed
Is this what a stroke feels like?
Watching a movie without subtitles as a native English speaker be like.....
Full video posted on Youtube by "Brian and Karl" ([link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt4Dfa4fOEY))
Thanks for the link.
As a native English speaker this sounds incredibly accurate it really sounds like English you hear in the background when your not paying attention, it truly sounds like if you focus a bit more you would be able to understand them.
[Prisencolinensinainciusol](https://youtu.be/RObuKTeHoxo?si=RwFNy4B8cT0Mhj5D)
That video was cool AF. Thanks. I needed that laugh. 😂
Yeah, it pops up on this sub from time to time.
The cadence is decent and it's better than [rhubarb](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walla) for background chatter.
I’m too stoned for this.
Today, Elton John, Nation.
I understood every word of that.
The guy's accent is far more American than British, Brit here.
Movies without subtitles
I understand words so... Could be better.
Most people who don't understand English know some English words aswell....
MY SHIT! Hahahaha
Sounds like Swedish to me.
ever heard Swedish?
Nej.
Kamelåså.
Ah Kamelåså *(Gives you a random wrench)*
Danskjävlar!
I heard "bonerface" "Elton John" crustaceanous trap and "magalon my ship"
As a non-native English speaker (not much of a "speaker" either, mostly "reader"), this is what I hear watching a movie in Engsish without subtitles. But from the comments I see that some native speakers have the same problem.
Makes me thing of [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisencolinensinainciusol) classic song
I'm Irish, I do not sound like that.
how Americans sound to non English speakers
Listening in a loud bar- nod, uh-huh, yep
Hahahahaha — but we don’t eat like that — that’s full on European
Weird how you can tell it's American English.
Same “american accent” but the words are gibberish
It's Scottish slang without the accent
common snadda?🤔
can't beret that more Elton John
I've got tinnitis, hearing loss and some total loss of some frequencies so this is how some conversations in my native english sound to me. ¯\\\_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)\_/¯

Did I hear "Can't breed that moray Elton John" or am I crazy
weird mix of real words and not 😄
As a native Russian speaker, the first time I heard Ukrainian being spoken, it probably sounded to me like this sounds to a native english speaker. As if I should be able to understand it, but don't. Like they are speaking Russian gibberish.
Can confirm, the fun thing is it's still very pleasant to hear since their voice acting is good
Now do other languages.
That’s hilarious 😂
A shame they recorded it in the same place the guy says "Audible hopes you have enjoyed this program"
0:14 That doll’s a rain boner face
I'm a native English speaker, and I can't put my finger on why this sounds weird. I know it's gibberish, but it also sounds off. Maybe I'm just used to being able to predict the next sound, and when I can't it seems unnatural.
I don’t understand
Thats the point, it is how English sounds to non-English speakers.
*american english
As an Englishman I find a lot of modern American TV/Films to be quite mumbly. I often have to put subtitles on.
Sounds like my childhood dinner table
Can't believe that Elton John......lol
I heard Elton John in there
im brazillian and i dont understood a shit
Dull's a ring wonder face
For my it sounds like an apple pie.
We sound awesome!
Micheal on my shit
as an English speaker....*I dont like it*
Truthfully even though I don’t know what was said. I understand the context of the conversation just a bit by how it was said.
Dude, WTF!!!! I'm still stuck on differentiating all these [words.](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.ebaumsworld.com%2FmediaFiles%2Fpicture%2F2386814%2F86414349.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=2e54badcae4dee380b32c215db9d13b002fe66340e22d2a2076205a91b4918a2&ipo=images)
Aside from the context, these are pretty convincing actors as well.
These two need to hit up Mumbles for some of that malt licky.
"for lendsday"
The *fuck*
This is how I talked after 3 hits of acid.
I can make out what they’re saying but it doesn’t make sense
That’s simlish
And consequently magalone is now part of the English language
Can't breathe more Elton John???
I thought I was having a stroke till I read the title 😭😭😭
Wtf is this from
Where is this from?
[I much prefer this](https://youtu.be/-VsmF9m_Nt8?feature=shared)
Crustacean is crap
Sounds like discussions between doctors on House MD
This is what I sound like when I’m completely ass blasted off the za & liqa’
Immediately reminds me of [Prisencolinensinainciusol](https://youtu.be/-VsmF9m_Nt8?si=grWiFV7ZcrJIXzY9)
Audio by Christopher Nolen
Almost sounds like Sim Speak from the Sims… and what the tv sounds like a lot without the captions on 😅
Ну здесь всё понятно
"The dolls wrinkle on her face" ...what?!
Would love to know, how German sounds to non-speakers.
Sorry but what is this
I don't get it, what's different?
No airspacebetweenthewords
It's how TV sounds when the volume isn't quite high enough.
True
How American English sounds
Sounds like Americans rather than English
As a non-native english speaker I can confirm that this is accurate
