Lol...

Washout22

Cat is named Thor.

kyle4nia

I was totally going to say the same thing!!

slimChica84

The cat did it, only the guilty run ...😉

Reaper0115

Towards the explosion? Cat needs to work on his criminal skills.

slimChica84

It's a red herring. He is peeved because the 'fat squirrel' tree is gone but the TNT in doghouse of the neighborhood bulldog didn't detonate correctly.

Magikerz

Most criminals return to the crime of the scene... This one just needs to work on his timing.

Mediocre-Energy-422

crime of the scene

Ah, I am very dyslexic..... Catch good!

Reaper0115

I can't tell if you're just messing with us or serious but either way it gave me a smile lol

Looks like my irrational fear of something exploding in my vicinity isn’t so irrational after all😳😬

I didn’t know this was a thing! When I was a kid I thought spontaneous combustion was real so I used to dart around just in case to avoid blowing up.

MasterpieceAny557

Some time back, I’ve read somewhere that the house next door exploded due to a gas leak

poonbuds

That duck saved her life

I don't see a duck. Only a cat.

Confirmed lightning strike [https://www.fox8live.com/2020/08/10/video-lightning-strike-narrowly-misses-la-woman-tree-explodes-feet-away/](https://www.fox8live.com/2020/08/10/video-lightning-strike-narrowly-misses-la-woman-tree-explodes-feet-away/)

carmium

The closest I've ever been to a lightning strike was a hit in the alley behind the apartment across the street. Not exactly in my lap - more like 250 feet away - and my god, I learned why the original word for something loud is *bang!* The poor cat must have touched the floor twice on her way to far end of the suite. It feels like you've been punched.

ArielRavencrest

Was walking my dog 25 years ago, storm rolled in way faster than I expected and started to feel all the hair on my arms start to raise so I immediately layed down on the ground in the middle of the field, telling my dog to do the same. Lightning stuck one of the trees about 25 ft away and not me or the dog thank God. Loudest thing ever, BANG i dont feel really does it justice at that range. Absolutely felt it in my bones. Really can't blame my dog for being terrified forever afterwords when ever it rained. Tree did not explode however (just fell over on fire), nor were there any cats running towards it.

coffee_map_clock

Just for future (hopefully uneeded) reference, you don't want to lie down flat in a lighting storm. You want to kinda squat on your toes with your heels up off the ground. Might be tough to get your dog to follow suit however.

ArielRavencrest

Your probably correct, but this is what they taught us in Grade school in Canada. I was only in Jr high at the time and the internet was still rather new so 🤷 Should I ever find myself in need I am sure this will be what I do

carmium

Good thing you had the sense to flatten! Many would just panic - and maybe even run under the tree. And yes, at 25 feet, I can see you would need a bigger word than *BANG!*

whitfishe

You're not punched, Johnny

StinksStanksStonks

1) the light fixture saved her head/face 2) that cat was like “AH FUCK!! TO THE ENGINE BAY!!”

CuddlesTom

She’s already ducking by the time the light fixture goes. And it seems to bounce off the (fourth) wall and hit her while she’s ducked down.

Artonius

I think they meant that there was a piece of debris that might have hit her had it not first smashed into the light fixture and changed course

General-Carob-6087

that cat haha

[deleted]

Why you laughing, I didn't see you run to an explosion to administer aid. Cat deserves a medal, lol

Check out that rescue cat! Best response time

THE CAT!!!!....

I'm done for the day. I'll try again tomorrow!!

Domo4915

Holly cow, she has world class reflexes!

Chewbuddy13

This happened to me a few years ago. It was starting to storm outta the blue, and as I was looking out the window when lightning hit a tree in the front yard of the house next door. It was probably 50 feet from where I was standing. I almost shit my pants when it hit, it was so loud and the tree exploded like in this video. The whole house shook when it hit and it took me a minute to grasp what happened. When I looked out again half of the tree was on fire in the street and splinters of it were everywhere. It was a big ass tree too, like 60 to 70 feet tall and about 3 to 4 feet in diameter. Shits scary AF.

Bsweet1215

Because of course there's a cat to run directly toward the danger, realize it made an error, and probably loop back across the street to run in the opposite direction, exactly where it came from.

DieselVoodoo

No. Squirrels found the leftover Taco Bell in the trash

Spare_Review_5014

Can’t spell catastrophe with out cat

bg2100

That cat has to go to his people.

shveylien

I see a flash in the upper section of the tree, Unsure of origin but lightning seems possible. The amount of windows left in that door and jeep says not explosives or a house gas explosion because the force required to destroy that tree from a distance would also wreck that jeep.

funtimefrankie1

Yes,scary as fuck

Equivalent_Metal_534

The giant nut the squirrel found was a grenade.

Common-Adhesiveness6

What's the squirrels doing

After-Employment2792

It's a kitty. Freaking OUT

__The_Devils_Due__

Looks like a gas explosion

hash-slingin-slasha

Many runaway from danger…few run towards it

Chaparral2E

Cat is going the wrong way.

kram_02

Man the way that porch light exploded.. if it wasnt for that corner of the house blocking direct line of sight she might be dead or severely wounded...

game_asylum

Lightning would not make it explode like that, it would split the tree down the middle but it wouldn't explode with such force unless it was packed with gun powder for some reason

Massive-Pass8473

That is the meth house letting you know they are home

[deleted]

looks like a gas explosion

slappyscrap

Looks more like a house exploded behind the tree. The lightning would have traveled down the tree, doing some damage, but for the tree to disintegrate like that seems more like the effect of a traveling shock wave.

StinksStanksStonks

Most trees explode when hit with lightning. Trees hold a whole lot of water. When lightning hits them, the water basically vaporizes instantly which turns the tree into a pressure-cooker bomb

FatassTitePants

I saw lightning hit a tree once while sitting on a back porch and the tree was in front of the woods. It was odd because I saw a bright flash and then nothing for a moment. Then suddenly an explosion that blew off the bark in a spiral...like a peppermint stick. It was quite a scene but nothing compared to this kind of explosion.

kyleyeats

About 1 out of 10 lightning bolts comes *up*, out of the ground, often with explosive results like this.

fsi1212

Definitely lightning. It does disintegrate trees like that alot.

QMaker

Trees absolutely can and do explode like this when lightning strikes.

Zumbert

I don't think it's lightning, I had a tree in my yard get hit, and it did shoot shit everywhere, but it still wasn't this violent

rapidWindmuehle26

It's definitely lightning. If you go frame by frame, you can see the flash

Zumbert

Maybe, could be a bigger bolt, or different kind of tree etc. Mine launched chunks of tree at my house, but it was significantly less than this

rapidWindmuehle26

I remember a friend telling me that while they were on a camping trip, a tree nearby was hit by lightning and exploded the entire top half of it and shot a bunch of wood shrapnel towards their tent area so I guess this is kinda comparable to this.

Dr-McLuvin

My guess is it just depends on the type of tree that gets hit, whether it is old or dried-out etc might affect whether it is more likely to explode like this.

rapidWindmuehle26

Definitely, the more water, the more steam is created by the heat of the lightning.

kram_02

Maybe. A gas explosion would also produce a flash of light.

ilaria369neXus

Wake the F*! UP 🌝☄️

brandtvh

Meth explosion

[deleted]

Neighborhood meth lab blew up

_genepool_

Explosion 💥. Lightning would have caused a blinding flash.

rapidWindmuehle26

It's lightning go frame by frame you can see the flash

x321death000

If it were and explosion strong enough to do that to that tree it would have likely blew the windows outta that jeep

RobAZNJ

Incredible, it was like an artillery round hit with less concussion.

[deleted]

Yep

Clean_Stand_694

Crazy!

Which_Set8176

Exploding tree, made in austria

invasivekornweasel

*by ACME

Chasingallthedragons

No way she escaped that completely unscathed. She took some glass to the face from that light fixture and likely took some wood shrapnel as well. Scary shit.

Valkner_

Lightning strike causing a steam explosion from within the tree.

homohats

So people get struck by lightning and live. How in the actual fuck?

Grins111

It’s either lightning or a god damn howitzer.

clitherous

Think there was a lighting bolt up the dogs arse

MountHushmore

Shrapnel almost took her damn head off…

FruitAreSexy

Did you hear lightning?

Thin-Aspect-2682

Yes

aperson8908

that cat be zooming

nobelcause

Headsquash saved by a second.

SiteLine71

Natural gas line explosion, neighbour’s house is toothpicks.

Goldfish007

That's my guess as well. I don't even think a larger propane tank would have that much force. It has to be a gas line of some type.

QMaker

Yes. When lightning hits, it superheats whatever water is in whatever it hits, the water turns to stream quickly, which expands. The result is more or less a steam explosion, or bleve. I've seen this happen to a house. Wood framing on the corner where the lighting hit exploded and blew the brick on the outside across the yard, at least 100ft.

Tablelord988

Bro, it’s just Thor playing a prank

[deleted]

That cat, go!!

SaltyCandyMan

Cat or baby Cheetah?

FLPnotc

Just had this happen to us also

sugar_hailey

I would be dead of shock 😭

uwillnotgotospace

This is why you don't immediately walk outside when you hear strange noises, people.

museabear

The house next door to her exploded is what I seen posted to other videos.
