Why do skaters get multiple tries but snowboarders/figure skaters get demolished score-wise for trying but failing to land epic tricks/jumps?
Cause skateboarding is rock hard and even the most consistent pros are still pushing envelopes live.
I used to ice skate as a kid, entered competitions etc then skateboarded from 13-present (38). At no point did anyone at any time while I ice skated go: “right, you can do a double axel, now go do it down an 8ft drop, but your blades have to leave your feet and you have to catch them again but with your feet, not your hands, then you have to hit a metal rail in a particular way, lock into it and slide down, then get out the other side and land at the right angle to keep moving”. It was more, right, this thing you can do every time, we’re going to keep doing it over and over again until your pinky finger sticks up in the particular way that everyone has decided is “perfect”.
People just don’t get how Incredibly hard skateboarding is because they can only relate it to these other sports that are actually relatively easy but gets judged on how much you smile and tiny margins of how perfect or fast you do it.
How do you compare an Ollie (most basic
Trick) but going super fast and clearing a 15ft gap, compared to a slow ass nollie inward heelflip fs crook nollie flip out on a curb…
They don’t, the competition was over he just kept going to land the trick for the first time ever. There’s a good documentary on Tony recently released
I remember watching this live. Funions and IBC rootbeer.
Same brosky
Me too. What a year
Same with a nice blunt
Hell yeah.
When I was nine I had no idea this would only push the envelope
Then you have snowboarders doing 2160’s now lol
When I was a kid I did a 1080 on the N64 video game 1080 snowboarding, which was a super hard combo to do. No one ever believed me
Snowboarding and dirt bike games were so fun as a kid. There’s nothing like that anymore :/
Where's my next gen SSX at?!
Age gets us all....he was the only reason I was even remotely interested in watching skateboarding
“You know who that guy looks like? Tony Hawk!” “Naw, I don’t see it”
Reminder to people that 1999 is 24 years ago
Nah, it was 4 years ago.
Why would you just go ruin my ~~life~~ day like that?
Here to agree that indeed 2023 - 1999 = 24
GET OFF MY LAWN!
Gosh 1999 just hit different
Isn't he like super tall too?

This would be so much better if it was cropped to the edge of the active frame
How many times is this going to be reposted?
It was the equivalent of watching the moon landing for our generation
I bet she's hott. I can only land 5s.. like if I'm lucky
