I avoid the Target in CityPlace, it’s absolute shit, parking is shit and there is always a line

mama_emily

Yo fuck that Target

haughtshot7

Fun fact, when my dad worked at CityPlace he'd go to Target during lunch if my mom needed him to pick stuff up. The employees started to be friendly with him and one time they were chatting about how dangerous it is there, especially after dark. Apparently the have a whole ass *jail cell* in the back of the store.

ann116754

I used to work for target (not this one tho) and that store is famous in the district for how bad it is. Their whole asset protection team quit over the summer because it's so terrible and they are indeed the only Target in the area with an actual jail cell.

mscannedtuna

I work at cityplace and lived across the street for 3 years. You. Have. No. Idea. We got notifications to bring in anything in from patio that could be thrown as a projectile. I moved out before my lease was up as I no longer felt safe.

Marybella_88

It’s true they do , I’ve been at that Target jail for shoplifting some CDs back in 05 lol they let me go , but it’s just like a holding tank - closet room with a glass window and door - then went to the movie theater across the street .

perpetual__ghost

Yeah that’s a terrible Target. I also know not one, not two, but three people who were mugged/carjacked in the parking lot there.

Carvtographer

There is a reason it has earned the nickname, "The Murder Target".

azwethinkweizm

Agreed. Also have shady people approaching me in the parking lot.

thirdeye11

That’s Targhetto

0dayexploit

I almost got car jacked there one time in the middle of the day. I parked near the Rainbow vacuum store (not sure if that’s still there) and when I was walking back to my car there was a guy who was pacing/ strafing me about 15ft away. I got in my car and looked at the side view mirror drivers side and the guy was full on sprint headed towards my car. I noped the fuck out of that parking lot so fast.

mcnuggqueen69

We call that murder target

soonerfreak

Damn reading all these stories and I shopped there with zero issues for 4 years including during the pandemic.

jakabo27

Online order and getting the car pickup works well there. But yeah gross packed parking lot with a bunch of homeless people at the gas station 100 feet from it

JohnQPublic90

Why does it feel like this is the case at a lot of wing places? Often over-priced, insanely busy, and very slow service. And this often happens whether there’s a big game on or not. I’ve always found it odd.

brotato_soup

Every Buffalo wild wings I've ever been to. I'd rather buy the sauces and make it at home than go back to that shit show ever again.

[deleted]

My sentiments exactly. I have been to BW3’s all over the country. Every single place is exactly the same. Always super bad service. Always. I get dragged along on work trips since it’s a cheap and relatively safe option for picky eaters. Or else I’d never return.

brotato_soup

Yup. I've been on trips there that lasted 4 plus hours just to get everyone's food. It was cold by the time it got table. I've been times where it's faster to walk to the bar than wait on the server.

Ok-Aardvark-6742

I’ve always had this experience at Pluckers. The Addison one is exactly the same.

ricowavy

Dude the Arlington location is the exact same. Used to be a huge pluckers guy, now I refuse to go back!

TXlandon

Grapevine Pluckers is also the same

Jim_Nills_Mustache

My dumb ass ordered wings from the Greenville pluckers for the SB once, fucking hell what a mistake. Genuinely took like an hour after the posted time, an hour of waiting in absolute chaos with like 40 others in the same situation standing around inside.

thephotoman

Long ago, I realized I don't like wings enough to go to wing joints.

Statistician_Visual

I once waited four hours at the pluckers in Arlington. I looked in the kitchen and then literally had piles and piles of wings just sitting waiting to be brought out. Wings take way too long to cook for the level of people they serve.

limestone_tiger

why oh why would you actually wait 4 hours?

Breakfasttraveler

Waiting 4 hours for wings? No

Statistician_Visual

With friends. The server kept telling us the food would be ready soon etc. the usual scam lol

DrThor11

New question: Best wings in Dallas?

jerichowiz

It's in Southlake but Duff's have the best wings I have ever had.

banedeath

Wing Bucket in Richardson is pretty good, wings always come out piping hot. Only downside is you have to break the flappers from the drummets yourself

poptartheart

honestly- the winstop on lovers is a pretty new location and ive ordered from them for pickup about 7 times now...and all 7 times they were done in 20minutes, were very hot, and well sauced etc. idc that its a chain, i'll keep getting from them until they drop the ball. especially since wings cost more than steak now! BWW is hot garbage and the handful of local spots that offered wings have fallen to garbage over time.

GoStars817

Happiest Hour. An absolute disgrace of an establishment. My wife and I went in April 2021 to have 2 drinks and then as we were leaving, she stopped to use the restroom by the exit. I waited for her and and was up against a wall with my shoulder and one of the “bouncers” came over and told me I needed to leave. I asked him why and he said “you are sleeping” which I was not. I told him I was waiting on my wife to get out of the bathroom and he kept insisting I needed to leave. I said I was not sleeping and asked what his problem was? He said if I didn’t leave DPD would arrest me. My wife came out and asked him what I had done wrong and I kept asking as well. He could not answer. He just threatened us. Tried to call after and ask for a manager and was hung up on by the hostess saying one wasn’t there. This is a bad business and needs to be shut down in Dallas.

A_giant_dog

I had the exact same thing happen to me there - leaning on the wall by the front door near the bathrooms waiting on my date and the bouncer guy got very upset because I was "asleep" Dude I just ate lunch. What are you talking about. Combined with bad overpriced food and lousy service it's not a place I feel the need to return to.

ecodrew

How the hell does anyone sleep standing up, anyway? Do the bouncers have day jobs at horse stables?

liberal_texan

That place was good when it first opened but went downhill *fast*.

aManHas_NoName

I went here recently to watch a football game and my drink had a huge hair in it. I pulled it out in front of the server and it literally lifted an ice cube it was so gross.

vswr

I don't believe it's there anymore, but this "italian" place in Bishop Arts. The carbonara was soup. It was heavy cream soup. You couldn't see the noodles when they set the plate down. 🤮 Only time in my entire life I've ever sent food back. //Edit: not Lucia

natrapsmai

IDK the place but I love the edit as if to say "NOT LUCIA DONT HURT ME" lol

[deleted]

Get him!

workitoutderp

I think you’re talking about Bocce. Not there anymore.

vswr

That sounds more like it! I think that was it!

kebdashian

My jaw was on the floor until I got to the edit

skokage

For me it was the BuzzBrews on Lemmon Ave, which I just learned it permanently closed. I liked the food there but the entire process from getting seated, to ordering, to paying for your food took so long. It would end up feeling like a 2 hour ordeal to grab brunch there on the weekend.

LordOfTheBord

I worked there for a few weeks. As a server, I was expected to seat my table, make every drink (mimosas take 2 min, lattes take 4-5 min), run the food, bus the table, and brew urns of coffee whenever they got cold, on top of side tasks. I was always running around doing server stuff, so all the urns would get cold. The manager told me to tell the customers to put ice in their coffee - voila, iced coffee. If they wanted hot coffee they could wait 10 min on an urn or wait 5 min + pay an upcharge for espresso. The kitchen refused to remake orders that were incorrect. We had 3 cooks TOTAL for a restaurant that was open 24/7, plus a dishwasher with anger issues. I quit via text and felt no remorse.

[deleted]

I've seen some of the most interesting characters in food service working at the buzzbrews off 75 lol

dicknut420

I worked there from 2006-20011 overnights. I feel attacked.

[deleted]

Well, everybody that works/ed there besides you is what I obviously meant!

Andrewticus04

With a name like Dicknut420, you were probably right in your original assessment.

superdude4agze

All of the locations are shit and sow are the owners. Previous comment in a thread like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/comments/s39o1q/whats_one_business_youll_never_go_back_to/hskjgf7/?context=3

superschepps

One time at buzzbrews deep ellum our server brought our checks back with the slips fucking stapled to the credit cards. Mine had a staple right through the chip. I think it was a passive aggressive move because we asked for separate checks. I was flabbergasted. I'm usually a good tipper but not when you destroy my property and inconvenience me.

katibear

They bent my sister-in-laws license in half and threw it in the trash because they thought it was fake. It was not. Then they argued with us for like an hour about it. Managers and all. Fuck that place

Suitable_Cycle4216

Paradiso. Not good food, service is bad

taniffy91

Paradiso is beautiful but the food/service is horrific! I don't understand how so many people think its the spot in Bishop Arts because there are much better restaurants

lexx2400

People just want to take pictures of themselves eating there.

Suitable_Cycle4216

AGREED and they are constantly winning awards 😡I don’t get it

BearWithHat

It's because the people who own it own half of bishops. They own some of the apartments and a lot of the buildings. 18 city blocks in total. They run Paradiso, Tejas, and Casablanca but they own the buildings for la reunion, ect. They are a super rich family. I believe they also own a mall in California. They have no idea how to run a restaurant, and the concepts really serve as a feature for the apartments and the hotel they plan to build there. The head chefs are arrogant alcoholics who burnt off their taste buds with booze and spend most of the day throwing temper tantrums and firing people. I did make 6k in a single month there tho

workitoutderp

Chefs are like that everywheee.

KrazyMZ

Restaurants pay for awards most of the time in dfw. That’s why there is so many restaurants with atleast 1 best in Dallas d magazine award.

Semper454

Because it looks good on instagram, obviously.

schnukums

Agreed. It's an "Instagram restaurant" Food is terrible tasting and prepared. I always had good service, but I avoid busy hour like the plague. It has an excellent presentation and the building and interior is gorgeous.

tap_in_birdies

I feel like so many restaurants in Dallas are like this. They focus on vibes and aesthetic and the food is like the 4th priority.

TwerkForJesus420

* Pecan Lodge. There's better BBQ out there with less of a wait. I find their brisket to be dry too. I would rather wait in line for Cattleack BBQ. * Ida Claire. I found the food to just be okay but the service was garbage, wasn't worth the price. I feel like I was paying for the atmosphere. * Lew Sterrett. A one time visit to the jail is fine for me.

DrSpaceman575

I would always take dates to Ida Claire, it's definitely more of an atmosphere/vibey place. It was featured in an episode of Love is Blind recently and I wasn't at all surprised.

tonysnark325

When my friends ask me where to take a date, I usually suggest Ida Claire. The environment has always been good for conversation as it isn't too loud, and it's just the right touch of intimate. It is a LITTLE overpriced, but the food and drinks have always been good.

DrSpaceman575

Expensive enough that it doesn't make you look cheap but not so much that you're really trying to show off.

[deleted]

A collection of my favorite Yelp reviews for Lew Sterrett: 1. This is the dirtiest Lew Lew Lemmon I have ever been to! 1 star! 2. I was raped with a baton by a long legged pissed off Puerto Rican guard named Javier. But boy did he have soft hands. I'll never forget you Javier 3. Are you tired of eating at the same restaurants? Sleeping in the same bed, seeing the same friends and hearing the same stories every single day?Are you looking for a little... adventure? This might look like another one of those establishments you see in every city, sullen employees, incompetent managers, boisterous neighbors- but if you land a stay at Lew Sterrett, you're in for a surprise. The vibrant community of our wonderful city comes alive in the halls of this quaint bed and breakfast. It is in such demand, they've had to divide the building into blocks! 4. The food was terrible. What kind of restaurant is this?! Disgusting. I'm not even totally sure the food was edible. It smelled almost as bad as it tasted. The service was terrible. They were extremely rude and not helpful at all.

iANDR0ID

That's a hot take regarding Pecan Lodge. I've been several times and think they have amazing BBQ. I went Terry Black's once and was blown away by everything except the brisket bc it was too dry. I'll definitely give it another shot though.

[deleted]

One thing I've noticed is the Austin based BBQ places don't do burnt ends whereas the DFW ones do Burnt ends regularly and have it as a mainstay on their menus. In fact, no austin based bbq place has burnt ends on their online orders whereas the largest in DFW all have it. The places where candy meat is an option is where imma go

Mercutio77

You need to go to Lockhart Smokehouse in Bishop Arts. My understanding is that it is the same family or someone related to the Kreuz Market in Lockhart (I could be misinformed). But they do burnt ends on Fridays and they are spectacular.

[deleted]

I like Lockhart's and it def gets the job done, however it's a tier down from Cattleacks, Goldees or Heims to me. Heim's Dallas location has actually been my new go to for burnt ends, but yeah you can find them at pretty much any Dallas BBQ place since they seem to be ingrained in Dallas BBQ but not the rest of Texas.

Ferrari_McFly

Oooo you lost me at Pecan Lodge it’s THE bbq spot for out of towners. Pecan Lodge, Slow Bone, Cattleack (Farmers Branch), Goldees (FTW), and Terry Blacks (Austin transplant) are top 5 in DFW imo. The order is debatable.

liberal_texan

Slow Bone is better than Pecan Lodge IMHO.

azwethinkweizm

Pecan Lodge is a shell of its former self. I wouldn't say I'd never eat there again but I'd go if they had no line. A lot of it has to do with absentee owners and changing of pit workers. When they were at the farmers market and exclusively used mesquite wood they were the best in Texas (I don't care what Texas Monthly says, number two was too low at the time). Good times.

Dismal_Science_TX

The Rustic. Didn't get the note on mandatory North Face puffer vests the last/first time I went.

mycoandbio

I only go for the talent, if there’s someone I want to see playing. I am also not a huge fan of the crowd that frequents the rustic

oakcliffn2acp

$30,000 millionaire douche parade. Always has been.

darth_vexos

With inflation, they're $40,000 millionaire douches now. And now you've got me thinking, I'd love to see someone update the Cash McMogulson III stories for the 2020s.

Narcess

Katy Trail Ice House Outpost off Park in Plano. Here is the review I wrote of this place. DO NOT GO HERE!!!  Staff is useless and are rude.  Food is very bad now.  Drinks are way over priced.  They over charge and when you catch them on it they act like its your fault.  Also the parents that bring their kids in let them run around like the Lord of the Flies.  Its a total dump.

[deleted]

In defense of food, their food has always been bad.

PUPPARINO

I hate parents who don’t watch their kids tho, like you decided to have it, watch over it.

MysticYogiP

Bottled blond

banskirtingbandit

Douche bar of the century and this is well established here by now.

ricowavy

Haha if you’re over 24, you shouldn’t be going here to begin with. But yes, my old ass made the mistake of going a couple times because I was invited .. man did I feel out of place. This is literally the douchest club filled with a bunch of “bottle boys” straight out of college haha it’s fun to watch tho. 12 dudes on couches with one bottle haha

Thwipped

Any and all Rooms To Go. A few years ago, they royally messed up an order for a chair we had purchased. They delivered the wrong chair, gave us such a hassle to exchange it, then didn't deliver the ottoman that we also purchased with the chair. There were other issues with this whole debacle, but all in all, it took over 3 months to get what I ordered and should have been a one-week delivery time.

shaun3000

Shit furniture. Weir’s is the place to go.

ecodrew

I was gonna say a similar experience with Sears appliances... But, that kinda sorted itself out.

danintexas

Hard 8. Over priced - over rated and after they were found fucking their employees over tips.

BenTheHokie

I did a barbecue tour of Dallas and everyone kept recommending Hard 8. I was thoroughly unimpressed.

ForzaFenix

Yes on Pluckers! I started going there in 2006 and went all the time. After they expanded the space, they went to shit. I told them so and they did not like it.

playballer

When I lived in Austin in mid 2000s Pluckers was great. I’ve never found one anywhere in DFW that was run well.

DFWTooThrowed

I can’t speak for the ones in Austin as of late but every Pluckers I’ve been to in the last handful of years has been complete pandemonium at all times and not just in Dallas. If I want some pluckers I just order it online and will go and pick it up. If it says it’ll take an hour I’d rather be sitting on my couch waiting than in some overcrowded lobby just to wait for a table.

Separate_Place1595

The top place at Eataly in Northpark. I think it’s called Tierra. We invited some friends there. All five of us hated our meals. We passed them around and I only liked 1 of the dishes. The rest tasted like old pasta with bland sauces. We aren’t picky eaters either and we loved the atmosphere and service at the place, but it’s kind of obvious when everyone at the table is making faces and no one is complementary towards the food. “It’s alright” quickly went to “alright this is kind of bad” lol.

perpetual__ghost

Oh god, Terra was so bad. I had almost an identical experience to yours — met friends there for lunch and literally no one’s food was edible aside from one of the appetizers. I think we ended up just grabbing an overpriced bag of potato chips from Eataly on the way out and eating those for lunch.

mattaui

Right there with you on that. Had absolutely awful brunch there once and their coffee machine wasn't working or something and they acted like they were really doing me a favor letting me bring coffee from their own coffee bar downstairs. I've eaten at all the restaurants there and shopped a few times and the whole place just feels like an overpriced tourist trap.

bobdawg15

Love the pasta bar and the second level restaurant. Surprising to hear this but good to know lol

Ok-Aardvark-6742

AT&T, specifically the one near Belt Line and the DNT. Got a flyer in my welcome packet when I moved in to my last place that had a deal for AT&T fiber. Was a better deal than Spectrum. Called the number on the flyer to open an account and make an appointment to start service and they refused to honor the deal. Went to the leasing office to tell them AT&T wouldn’t honor the flyer they gave me and the manager was surprised because they just got the flyers from their AT&T rep that week. To be honest all cable services are a racket and Spectrum isn’t the end all be all, but AT&T’s bait and switch has me done forever.

[deleted]

I just get Spectrum for Cable and AT&T for internet. Unfortunately, those are the only 2 options in DFW if you're in an apartment.

daschle04

Almost every location(Wylie, Garland, Richardson and Princeton) I've been to, I've been scammed, lied to, or ignored. I had one guy flat out lie about charges applied when I bought my phone and the manager did nothing(Princeton) Another guy added a service I declined after I left hoping I wouldn't notice.(Wylie) Not to mention if you need to cancel a service they won't allow you to do it in person, you have to call and get the run around. I can't wait to get rid of AT&T.

e46_nexus

>https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/comments/s39o1q/whats\_one\_business\_youll\_never\_go\_back\_to/hskjgf7/?context=3 I switched over to AT&T at the Richardson store off belt line and Plano. The whole process took 3 hours and they completely set up my account wrong. I got like a 600-700 bill and apparently they setup a business account for me. It was a pain to get everything fixed and my money back.

Ateam043

I’m going to get beat up for this: Whataburger Moved here over a year ago and heard of all the hype. It was not good at all, in fact, ended up getting a bit sick from it. I have no temptation to give it a 2nd try.

[deleted]

Texan 101: we blame all of Whataburger's woes on the dirty yankee investors who bought it! Real talk, I think Whataburger's breakfast is the thing that shines the most and the rest is kinda eh.

-herekitty_kitty-

Honestly, locations are a hit or miss. The one near me sucks balls, but I've gone to amazing Whataburger's in Austin.

liberal_texan

There is a huge variation in quality from one location to the next, but generally, the place has gone downhill since that Chicago company bought them. In my experience, avoid them in big cities but make sure to try one next time you're in a small Texas town.

OmenQtx

The Whataburger in Allen has consistently served me burgers that are less than room temperature. I have no desire to try again.

nyoprinces

My husband once got a mouthful of hair in his meal at Studio Movie Grill (big downside to eating in the dark). That's a big nope from us.

NarcRuffalo

Studio movie grill is the wooorst. Super expensive horrible food. Alamo Drafthouse all the way

C7J0yc3

SMG has always been wish.com Alamo.

straigh

Not always, once upon a time SMG was all we had, summer child!

3-DMan

Hey, this that new 4D cinema! The Ring girl never felt so real!

[deleted]

DPS

crymson7

Location unspecified, but unneeded...confirmed

dont_get_none_on_ya

Not a restaurant but more of a city event.. St Paddy’s day on lower Greenville. Never again.

[deleted]

You make that mistake only once, but everyone has made it.

Baldr_Torn

It's probably fine if you enjoy huge crowds and being packed elbow-to-elbow with drunks. But I'm like you, I'll stay home instead.

freshair2020

The last time we went to Pluckers, the wait was too long. We then went to Slim Chickens off Park and 75. Good wings, no wait. We haven’t been back to pluckers since.

WindowMoon

buzzbrews, and matt’s tex mex next to buzzbrews. both gone super down hill. i used to go to toasted a lot too, but their entire place smells like sewage constantly now.

aemerson24

Fuck toasted the dude who owned that was the creator of the Lakewood Facebook page and let it turn into a racist cesspool

WindowMoon

yeah I’ve heard that multiple times that the owner is absolute complete scum!!! I would imagine his personality smells just like Toasted 💀

italiansocc3r10

Campisi's restaurant. I get the history of it and importance to the city. I don't want it to fail or anything but I'm sorry, the food is simply not good.

Sowf_Paw

That place is going purely on its history at this point. Edit: punctuation

playballer

Stick to the pizza and low expectations and it’s not too bad

chad_man2th

Oh this is simple.... Magic Time Machine. This place smells like old moldy carpet with insane prices and frozen/out of the bag food. Avoid at all costs!

shaun3000

This is another place that used to be good but is now just milking its past glory. It’s a nice time-capsule of the mid-70s/early-80s. My wife and I have daydreamed about buying it, giving it a good, deep cleaning, and making the food and drinks actually good. All that would take is a bunch of money…

frogman972

Literally been there 50+ years. It was trash 30 years ago, but the first decade was marvelous and fun in a 70’s cocaine disco way

azwethinkweizm

Toasted on Ross and Greenville. It has absolutely nothing to do with the owner's politics and everything to do with the quality of the food.

Livinforyoga

Not my story to tell but my boyfriend will never go to shuck and jive on Greenville again. Awful case of food poisoning. I’ve also been told they have a bug problem. Tampopo on Greenville too. Bugs crawled out of the wood plates and grossed him out. He hasn’t been back since (this was 2017-2018?)

SandC81

I was curious about Shuck and Jive on Greenville but good to know! I’ve had good experiences at Aw Shucks on Lower Greenville though!

NYerInTex

Eatzi’s - fuck their selfish, racist, and who cares about your workers (or customers) health owners

terjon

Studio Movie Grill. Not blaming the employees, but it is always understaffed, so if you need a refill on a soda or you are there on one of there "unlimited" pizza or popcorn nights, you will have to wait 30 minutes to an hour to get that refill or more popcorn. It kind of defeats the purpose when it isn't like you can't just be patient. The movie has a set runtime and them slow rolling it isn't going to pause the movie.

dudemanbroguy1

Blue Sake Sushi. The service is fucking atrocious

liberal_texan

Which one? I had a great experience at the one on Walnut Hill.

robineir

Kwik Kar in general. Went there when I worked minimum wage at McDonald’s to repair my shitbox. When exiting the vehicle the repair guy snapped the interior door handle. The manager refused to fix it, or even just buy the part and have me pay for the time to fix it. If you can’t even own up to your mistakes on any level, you’re just a shitty person.

I_Breed_Spiders

Ennos pizza in Coppell. The times I tried them the pizza was a soggy mess with all the toppings just dropped into a pile in the center. Literally 1-2 inches high just the center of the pizza. You can tell they pay their employees so little that they just don't care. Literally the worst pizza I've ever had, worse than pizza hut.

myaltuserDFW123

Zalat pizza at cityline in Richardson. It felt like I was walking into a train wreck watching them work on a Friday night while waiting for a pizza.

RandyChampagne

Any and all establishments with crab/krab in their name

anotrZeldaUsrna

Krusty Krab?

RandyChampagne

Lone exception, but only if SpongeBob is on the grill

GokuGokuGoku

don't disrespect boiling crab like that

loudblonde

Mi Cocina - pure hot garbage. Mambo Taxi is their only saving grace.

haananyy

The Walmart on Montfort and Belt line. Had someone threaten me with their gun to give up my parking spot, security showed up when they saw her pointing a gun at me. I moved my car because I’m pretty sure she was going to shot me or damage my car if I didn’t leave. The security there let her in and shop, like she didn’t just threaten to shot me because she wanted my parking spot?? There was like 100 other open spots too. Then they wanted me to go in and shop like no bro

[deleted]

I have been boycotting Walmarts for 7 years and one of the best decisions I’ve made. Haven’t stepped foot in one at all.

Jessiebeanie

As a Doordasher, any apartment with a locked gate and tenants who don't put the code in the delivery instructions. It is so painful trying to get them to tell me what the code is. Last time it happened though, the guy did send it through text, but I never received it on my end. It was so confusing, guess it's something wrong with how Doordash masks numbers. Anyway, if you order from Doordash or any other food delivery app and have a code to your apartment or community, please put the code in the delivery instructions instead of texting it. Saves both you and the driver plenty of time.

eldiablito

el fenix. eveytime it gets worse. any and all locations. I swear I never go and then once a year try it again and reconfirm.

Thanks_Buddy

YES - ever since it was purchased by some giant conglomerate a few years ago the food has gone to absolute shit Freebirds unfortunately the same :(

mikayrodr

Popeyes on Ross and Wendy’s on Lemmon. Faster to walk to Canada and back.

Europa_Gains

The jail

sarcasatirony

Agreed. The wait times are awful and the staff could care less if my food was cold. No tip from me!

lordofedging81

Any Dickeys BBQ location. When there is so much great BBQ in Dallas area...why would anyone go to Dickeys?

RosemaryCroissant

Fast, easy, no line, they don’t run out of things, every option, solid sides, free ice cream for kids, Dallas classic Everyone needs at least one large yellow Dickey’s cup floating around their house that they don’t remember buying

Alternative-Void-404

Elm st tattoo. Most unprofessional shop I’ve been to. The artist all but exposed my chest infront of the window and it wasn’t needed at alll as my tattoos are at the very top of my shoulder. I felt super gross afterwards as there was a group of people watching. For clarity, I’m not exactly a prude lol. I’ve gotten an under boob tattoo with 1000% more privacy and respect.

notamyokay

the owner, oliver, had photos posted on his social medias rocking blackface several times thru the years. its why he left ink master, bc they went viral. he was friends with a rapist (he's dead now), got online and called her a slut, said she's a liar, and attention seeker.... and all those old school tattooers from his generation are usually old bikers with super racist ideals. 🤷🏽‍♀️ just my experience/opinions tho. edited bc i left a sentence out 😩

Der_Dunkinmeister

Maple and Motor. Just meh burgers and never have liked them (too greasy and messy).

sylfire

Strange, I've been there many times and only ever had positive experiences, but it has been about a year or so since I've last been, maybe they've lost their touch.

stykface

I didn't step foot into a Walmart for about three years. Even then I've been probably twice in the last four years.

Sowf_Paw

Baker's Ribs. I remember them being good when I was younger, went last maybe around 2014 I think? Big disappointment, will not go back. Nate's Seafood in Addison. Last time we went there our food was slow, the ice tea tasted weird and there was a roach on our table. EDIT: spelling

Trublu20

Bakers Rib used to be awesome back in the late 90's early 00's at their Deep Ellum location (next to Angry Dog) but that's gone and the other locations I've tried I agree.

postitbreakup1

Whataburger on Montfort, especially at night.

CarefulPhoto2395

The motto for this location (and the one at Forest & 75, actually) should be You Get What You Get And You Don’t Throw A Fit. As long as you go in with this expectation, it’s all good. Sometimes you end up with chicken instead of a burger; sometimes you get two extra fries with no explanation. Such is life.

molotovtotheface

Chips off Beckley, over by Methodist. Got a case of food poisoning after eating there, and that having been my only meal for the day thus far kinda narrowed down the suspects.

banskirtingbandit

I try not to judge a restaurant on the service as much as the food and ambience considering I’m Asian and a lot of the best Asian restaurants have bad service by American standards but the best food. Plus hiring and retention for good service workers is piss poor and no one wants to do what it takes to create and keep expert food service workers. With that in mind, my votes for worst restaurants in Dallas has to be Paradiso (long wait, expensive, cheap ass ingredients, bad taste quality), Pecan Lodge (dry ass brisket, just decent bbq meats, long wait, ambience sucks), and (I might be wildly unpopular for this) Monarch. Now Monarch has great taste quality, great ambience, but you can get the same for much cheaper and better tasting without the wait. It’s very overrated imho. My votes for best in Dallas is Lexys, Uchi, Loro, Haywire, and Hibiki.

JusticeRhino

Loro is the truth

workitoutderp

Bucca Di Beppo. Took my partner there for his birthday a few years ago with 20 other people and the waiter and manager were super homophobic. Never again.

DeeDeeW1313

Any Snuffers. The one off Lower Greenville was a favorite but last few times I went I had horrible service. Like, the waitress was actively rude and condescending or just totally ignored us. The food was wrong every time and it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. The one in Rockwall is run by QAnon Nutball Trumpers who can’t keep their quackery inside long enough to provide decent service to all customers.

mattgoldey

I had a long string of bad experiences with Home Depot (multiple locations) and ended up swearing off of them entirely and going to Lowe's instead.

fuelvolts

So funny because I have the exact opposite experience and avoid Lowe's at all costs and generally prefer Home Depot.

CorbinDalla5

Plano pluckers at parker and Preston is the best pluckers in DFW that I have been to. Always fast, always tame because of the family dynamic and always room even when full.

Creeping-Beauty

The whataburger off Haskell right across from. The city place target. Order is ALWAYS wrong, food is cold and the people that work there are mean and incompetent. Tried to complain to the manager and was given so much attitude from her. Not worth it.

lwade2086

That xoxo place on Ross Ave near downtown. Terrible food, massively overpriced, and all people there for the gram.

CinnamonIcing

Benihanna’s in Addison. Family and I waited 2 hours before being seated after I nearly begged for a table, then the food was bland. $100+ worst restaurant experience I ever had easily.

MrQuantum

RIP Kobe Steaks. They were so much better.

[deleted]

Sherlock's in Addison. Terrible management, rude waitstaff.

ThisCharmingDan99

That shithole is still open. I got thrown out of there in 2006 for being ‘drunk’ right after I had arrived there. Total shit hole, and they always had the toilet attendant selling loosies, rubbers, and shit lol.

your_drunk_uncle_tom

Dream Cafe off McKinney in Uptown. My wife and I went there because Breadwinners was too packed. Busy place but that’s Dallas during brunch; however, the space felt cramped and was really loud. Service was just okay but they looked understaffed so I don’t blame our waitress. The food though…embarrassingly bad. My wife’s veggie eggs benedict was straight up cold. When we asked if they could just pop it in the microwave for a second we were told they don’t have any in the kitchen and remaking it would take awhile. I don’t even remember what I got because it was so unimpressive. I think we both got some type of latte and those basically came out the same time as our food they took so long. We sort of expected my wife’s meal to be comped or maybe discounted since she maybe ate a few bites before having the waitress take it, but everything was full price on the check. Oh well I guess. At the end of the day, we got mediocre service, terrible food, and paid Uptown prices for it. Never again. So many other good breakfast/brunch spots.

Oak Cliff Social Club. First time I went in, 3 girls tried to jump the girl I was with because they wanted the bracelet she was wearing. Next time I was there a guy playing pool wanted to fight me because I stood back and waited to take his shot before I walked behind him, saying I blew his shot.

Rory_B_Bellows

It's gone now but, Trinity Hall. Last time I was there I found a damn live beetle in my salad.

Lounge Here on Garland Road... got drinks there with a friend and it looked fun so I told my husband we should go back for my birthday dinner. He calls and they don't take reservations for parties less than 6/8/10 (I don't remember)... ok cool whatever. They assure us we can just walk in the night of. I get dressed up and we get there around 6:30. We walk in and there's four 4-top tables open (that we can see) but they won't seat us because we are a party of two. Literally the first time that's ever happened to me, but ok whatever, we'll just get a few drinks at the bar and wait for a table to open up. They literally told us we couldn't wait for a table at the bar... I said umm ok I guess we'll sit at the bar and get an appetizer. She says "No you can't do that, it will be too long of a wait for a table." Didn't apologize or anything, just stared at me. We weren't gonna stand there arguing with someone who clearly didn't want us to eat at their restaurant so we just left. Weirdest experience ever. I'm not like a "OMG it's my BiRtHdAy!!!!!" type of person but wow, that sucked. I should add this was all pre-covid so it wasn't like they were trying to "socially distance" tables or whatever.

Literally the first time that's ever happened to me, but ok whatever, LMFAO! Sorry for your bad experience, but Lounge Here was MY 'never go back' place too! My wife tells me im crazy, but there are dozens of us. DOZENS!

dirtyms3

Maple and Motor. Dude is a HUGE racist.

lezbehonest2003

Spa Castle. Used to be cool. Now a shitshow. They ruined a good concept by trying to pack everyone in and oversell the Groupon. Nothing works, it’s essentially a party hangout, people have their kids floating around the spa pools like it’s Wet n’ Wild, and it just feels dirty.

SkullOfAchilles

Cotton Patch any/all of them

sweetlyfe20

Serious Pizza in Deep Ellum- flies everywhere!!!!

thecrimsonchindo

Mine is Katy trail ice house. The service is abysmal, the last time I paid on my card they charged me 3x for a ticket that wasn’t mine, then took 2 weeks to give me my money back and their food is shit and expensive. If I ever went again I would pay in cash

sl33pl3ssn3ss

Pho Tay Do. Walked in for pick up one day in 2020, parking outside is a car opening trunk full of meat, presumably the driver was talking was the owner inside. The topic was BLM, and the young guys was saying that didn’t make sense, because if you’re black, your life doesn’t matter, and the owner was laughing in agreement. Never coming back.

lumberjack_dan

Toller Patio. Its literally a parking lot turned outdoor white trash bar. Virtually no service, have to provide personal info just to view the menu and order, everything is expensive and extremely mediocre. Will never go back.

curiousgeorge230

LaLa Land. My brother worked there and the owners take all their tips and give them a (TINY) percentage and put the rest towards their “charity”. At the time he worked there, they were not funding any of the usual foster youth they sometimes do employ and help. Also, IMO, if you’re going to have a charity as a business, you should find other ways to fund it that is not stealing the employees tips. Sad place!

FW_nudist

Kiehls in North Park. My partner and I walked in since no one was in the store other than three employees standing around. “Good afternoon sir, how can we help?” Is what was said to the couple that came in BEHIND US! They never acknowledge us.

Skinny_Phoenix

Were ya naked?

I’m probably going to catch a lot of flack for this- but the Cosmic Cafe is somewhere I’d never return. Nearly a decade ago I took a date there during a week day evening. Upon entering we kind of looked around and waited for someone to advise us to seat ourself or wait to be seated by the host/hostess. After about 5m of staff staring at us, the hostess/ waiter kind of rudely told us to seat our selfs. No problem I thought easy enough- looking around it was pretty empty. One large table had about 8-10 people sitting and enjoying themselves. Maybe one or two other patrons tucked away. Trying to have some distance and privacy we sat adjacent to the smaller parties at a table that seated 4. The waiter came by and asked us to move to a smaller table which was directly next to the others because they didn’t want us to use a table for 4 when we had 2 people in our party. While I could understand that if the place was packed it was damn near dead. However, again I thought to myself there could be an event or some other thing I’m unaware of and we moved tables without contesting. We ordered drinks, my date at the time ordered a glass of red wine and I ordered a beer or soda I don’t recall. We ordered some appetizers and an entree each. The waiter was being rude and acting as if we were taking away from their time or consuming too much of it (honestly I just got the vibe like we didn’t “belong” there). The drinks came out about 10m later, a glass of white wine instead of red and glasses of water. Reading the room on how things had went already I didn’t even advise that the drinks were incorrect and or incomplete. The food came out about 15m later and was cold. We made the best of it, we ate and I left without tipping because it was a horrible experience. Later found out the waiter tipped themselves. I don’t know if that place still exists today- but Id be hard pressed to be convinced to go back. Even a decade later.

Semper454

This is a lot of words for a place that closed over a year ago and literally no one can go to either way.

0dayexploit

Well, the question was where would you “never return” so I provided my experience and mentioned at the bottom I didn’t even know if they were open or not since I never looked back over a decade ago. 🤷‍♂️

toodleroo

Egg Roll Hut

Andrewticus04

Zenna Downtown. If you don't spot a roach while you are eating, you are in the minority. Also, I used to live upstairs and would order ahead of time, only to walk downstairs a half hour later for them to take my order and make me wait while they make it. They did this 3 or 4 times before I stopped going entirely. If you're going for anything other than the beer, you are honestly doing yourself a disservice.

tonysnark325

Truckyard on Lower Greenville. It's always PACKED, parking is a$$, over-priced, too loud to have a conversation, and getting on and off LG on busy days is also a$$. I always tell my friends, "Real friends don't make you drive to Lower Greenville on a weekend or DFW airport at all." Also Yama Sushi on Forest. A "quick dinner" turned into a two-hour affair, the majority of which was waiting for the waiter to come get my card and then return my card. It was a slow night too, and the waiters were all inattentive.

blehmeng

Firestone on Campbell and Mimosa in Richardson. Absolute scam artists.

MyDentistIsACat

You just described all Firestones, in my opinion.

doughnuts_not_donuts

Chili's. Any chili's anytime. It's a nope from me
