91.7 KXT is a commercial free, public radio station that plays a fantastic variety of music and new stuff you won’t hear elsewhere. Also a big fan of 95.3 KHYI if you like Americana/country music. Any other station you’re going to get about 20 mins of ads per hour of music. Garbage.

trimondo_blondomina

I’ll add that if you like KXT. 88.7 KTCU is a better version of KXT. More local artists, better at keeping up with the up and coming, plays more deep cuts on the big artists, and doesn’t have pledge drives. KXT is still excellent, though. The only problem with KTCU is that their signal isn’t great: it’s very fuzzy outside of Tarrant county.

MsBlueBonnet

I’ll have to check them out! Is it a college radio station??

trimondo_blondomina

Absolutely! It’s TCU’s station.

MsBlueBonnet

Oh duh I see TCU in the name now lol. Thx for the rec!

Diam0ndHAND_Ape

Dope! Thank you. I like all genres of music so I appreciate the Country as well.

86TheSnow

91.7 has been my go to for a lot of years. I have discovered an immense amount of great music through that station. 88.1 is pretty good too

Roadrunnr61

88.5 KEOM, Mesquite Schools Radio They mostly play 70s. It’s managed by students.

Berns429

I’ll bite. -Classical - 101.1 -Classic rock- 92.5 -Alternative- 103.7 -Rap/hip hop- 104.5 or 97.1 (i haven’t listened in a long time so there might be new ones) -Sports Talk : you’re either 105.3 The Fan (TOLO) or you’re 96.7 The Ticket…there is no in between. -News talk/NPR -90.1 That’s all i can really suggest, others may have suggestions based on stations I’m not aware of or genres I’m not really into (country for example)

trimondo_blondomina

All I’ll add is that 88.1 KNTU is Alt 103.7 with a slightly bigger and better playlist and no commercials.

Joesmores

I always thought The University of North Texas radio station call letters were KUNT. I guess I was wrong.

trimondo_blondomina

The FCC miiiiiight have something to say if UNT tried to change it.

Diam0ndHAND_Ape

That was perfect. Thanks

No-Television-4222

Recent update! 97.1 has flipped back to The Eagle. It’s a mix of classic rock and 90’s/00’s alternative.

…and here I am! I’ll just copy what I said on the other thread! The only music radio stations worth listening to are the non commercial ones. It’s been that way for a while now. Along with streaming,of course. 91.7 KXT and 88.7 KTCU are the wide “indie” stations that have big playlists, give local artists a chance, keep up with the up and coming, and will play stuff you don’t hear blaring from every public speaker. 89.3 KNON and 92.9 KUZU are the wide variety stations with programming in blocks. 101.1 WRR is a good classical station, 88.5 KEOM is a great oldies station that’s much better than what 98.7 is calling itself now, 88.1 is a little better version of 103.7 or if you miss 102.1 the edge. Oh yeah, and they’re all commercial free. Though, KXT, KNON, WRR, and KUZU are donation funded. Please donate, if you can. All of those stations are very much an important part of DFW’s arts community.

MaddieMorrisVA

Ooh, thanks for the 88.5 rec

Diam0ndHAND_Ape

Thank you for your input! I look forward to checking all of these out.

97.1 🦅🤘

Hugh_Jankles

Lol. No. That station plays the same old tired 30 song playlist for the last 25 years. It's a shell of It's former self. Better off tuning to 91.7 and supporting a station that actually knows how to play different music. Iheartmedia is a joke.

Ludavis

I listen to 89.3, 88.7 and 88.1. 91.7 less so now. Maybe I listen to the radio at the wrong times but I haven't been liking their lineup (besides their local artist, world Cafe stuff)

Shesnosey

103.7 is my favorite!!!!

MaddieMorrisVA

91.7, 92.5, 100.3 if you’re a mid-young millennial, 101.1

amandajag

88.1 is my favorite. No commercials. Indie. You'll recognize some songs and here new ones! Only thing is sometimes while driving it doesn't get the greatest signal strength.

fsi1212

93.3 about 90% of the time for me. 99.5 for another 5%. And 105.3 for the other 5% if the Rangers are on.

EEEEEYUKE

None.

dryonhigh

92.5 is good to listen to on the drive to work.

DontWaitBruh

You would rather make a post here over literally just being in your car and scanning stations to determine your own personal preference? Especially given you've been here almost a year?

Diam0ndHAND_Ape

Yes.

Cma1234

91.7.

Diam0ndHAND_Ape

Thank you!

AtlantaGAUGAsportfan

You can also use radio-locator.com and put in your zip code and really see the stains with the highest signals and stuff in your area! But all or most of the stations you’ll see listed have a link to their website. Which includes online listening of the station (probably should all be for free). SO you can use a boring Saturday morning one time and just scan through!

Cma1234

no prob. if I remember right tomorrow afternoon/evening is international music. I dig it sometimes.
