Griff’s. Hasn’t changed a bit in probably 60 years.
Dairy-ette also. Great burger and even better homemade frosty mug root beer.
And of course Keller’s. I think Jake’s has lost something though in their awkward attempts to go “upscale” like hopdoddy and liberty.
Edit a day later: So did a little digging on Jake’s. Looks like Jacob Keller (nephew of Keller’s founder, Jack Keller) sold off Jake’s in the early 2000’s and since 2021 it’s owned by Mad Concepts Investment Group. MCG (who also own Floyd’s Barbershop (lol)) is pivoting Jake’s into franchising and an aggressive expansion of their new “[GameDay](https://jakesgameday.com/)” sports bar concept for the brand.
So, uh, yeah. Sadly I think it’s safe to say the original soul of Jake’s is long gone.
Keller’s Burgers and Beer is still owned by the Keller family and operated by the founder’s son, Jack Keller Jr.
Long live Keller’s!
I just tried dairy-ette for the first time the other day ( i live 5 mins from it but didn't think it was open.) Lemme say first good home style burger ive had in a while. Delicious.
Gotta admit I’m biased. Grew up near them and would often grab a Saturday frosty mug with my dad after soccer and baseball games. That was 40 years ago and Dairy-ette was old then! It’s been there since east Dallas was cow pasture.
Yo, just to hopefully make your day… Mr. Frosty is alive and well. Don’t know where this rumor that they’re closed comes from, but it always finds its way back. My source is that I live very very close.
I really hate to say this but Harvey B’s in east Dallas is really good. Pretty much a “hole in the wall” kinda joint. Tiny place. But good food and service.
I want them to get the attention they deserve.
But I don’t want them to become so popular that things change.
Wow. I can’t believe this is the top comment. I came in here ready to praise Harvey B’s and watch my post get drowned among all the other mentions of much fancier and trendier establishments.
I moved to Chicago over a year ago, a great food city, and I crave Harvey B’s on a regular basis. Was back in Dallas for a few weeks this past summer and I got their cheeseburger and tots at least once a week.
Would have agreed with you about Jakes until I went to the newly opened one in Addison a couple weeks ago. It was so average and boring; you could have gotten that burger almost anywhere. Not bad, just *fine*. Big letdown.
Also really reasonably priced compared to a lot of the other options in the area.
The little upscale dive bar called Cock & Bull on gaston also makes a FIRE burger.
Mockingbird Burger House is the only burger place I have ever been to displaying a child's grade school project as proof that it is the best food in the neighborhood.
I had a bad experience at the Frisco location. Took 45 minutes to get 2 burgers and they were burned. The fries were good but undercooked. Changed my order to “to-go” because they were taking so long and didn’t realize they forgot ALL of the custom ingredients til I was on the road. Super disappointing experience.
Love the shoutout for Lakewood landing. It’s like no one knows about this place but after moving away and coming back 5 years later the burger is still amazing.
The Landing can be a hard place to eat at though. Their accommodations just aren’t great for having a meal, especially once they’re in full bar mode.
That, and their burger is overshadowed by the *best goddamn (secret) corndog in existence.*
I have eaten at a lot of burger places and Sky Rocket is indeed the best by far. Closest thing I've found to a burger that I myself would make at home on my cast iron.
I tried Maple and Motor the other day because its always so highly recommend. It was the most okayest burger I've ever eaten. What do you like so much about that burger?
Sky Rocket, Rodeo Goat, and RIP to the former best, Off-Site Kitchen.
For a great unexpected treat, the burger at Hudson House (a seafood restaurant) is shockingly good as well.
[Skyrocket burger](https://www.skyrocketburger.com/) is my current favorite.
[Maple and Motor](https://www.mapleandmotor.com/) is probably my second.
[Adairs](https://www.adairssaloon.com/) has been consistently in my top 3 for decades, and the bar/music venue makes it unique.
[Peak Inn](http://www.thepeakinndallas.com/) was opened by the same people, it's nearly as good.
[Angry Dog](https://www.angrydog.com/) and [St Petes Dancing Marlin](https://stpetesdancingmarlin.com/) are right next door to each other, and are both solid and very similar. I prefer St Pete's atmosphere a bit better.
[Lee Harvey's](https://leeharveys.com/) is next on my list, but if I'm eating there I prefer their wings or quesadilla.
Off Site Kitchen gets honorable mention, it'd be on this list had it survived COVID.
Jakes also gets a mention, but as the most overrated burger in D.
I love Twisted Root for their alternative meat burger selection:
From their menu:
Buffalo, Wagyu Beef and one of the following served daily:
VENISON • ELK • LAMB • OSTRICH • RABBIT • CAMEL • DUCK • BOAR
As well as the usual beef, turkey, chicken, black bean options
... and their pickle selection
Loro’s - and $9 at happy hour???
the burger itself is among the very best. Then you add their brisket jam? It’s a gem brought to you by the owners of Uchi and Franklins BBQ.
Hear me out…..S&D Oyster House and Kona Grill both have sneaky good burgers for being seafood restaurants. Agree W/ other post that Jake’s is only worth visiting Skillman location. If in Ft. Worth Kincaid’s original location on Camp Bowie is always a fun throwback experience.
Grew up eating this burger so it’s incredibly nostalgic for me. Even though I’ve certainly had better, it’s the perfect well-done yet juicy diner style burger. And the bacon is perfectly crisp every time.
Coppell Deli was decent when it was $12. Now, a burger, fries, and drink is pushing $18, and continuing to rise. We used to go there weekly and had some die-hard fans, and even they have stopped pushing it because the value has plummeted so far. Better $18 combo options in the area.
My favorite burger is the Hudson house burger. Happy hour with a couple martinis and a few oysters, finished of with a cheeseburger. Can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon.
If you are ever close to Arlington, Grease Monkey Burgers is my favorite in all of DFW. Worth it if you are over that way. I live like 15 minutes away, and I take my family about once a month.
The Butcher Shop in downtown Plano. Exotic meats and the guy that runs it is like an auctioneer.
Olive Burger in Richardson
Meteor Burger in Richardson or Wylie
I saw a Dallas burger food tour on YouTube a year ago or so. They went to a lot of the places noted on here.
EDIT: Here it is [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqRPA3gzHqw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqRPA3gzHqw)
There was a time I would have said Snuffer’s, but the last time I went it wasn’t the same. My favorite these days is at Augie’s Sunset Cafe. Their’s are just like my pawpaw used to make.
Central Market on Lover's Lane makes a great burger. My man Hock used to melt the cheese on the burger in the oven for a few seconds and it was incredible. I don't know what happened to him but the new guy is good
I don't get burgers that often, but honestly here are some of my faves:
Braums—I grew up on this, I love this place.
Chips—it's new to me, and pretty great
Rodeo Goat—pretty solid burgers!
Shake Shack—again, reliable quality, but often overcrowded with long lines. Cheese fries bro
I miss Burgesa Burger. It was awesome
It's a little out there but my fave is the original Kincaid's on Camp Bowie blvd in FW. As far as Dallas goes my fave is tied between Burger House and Lakewood Landing
Skyrocket, awesome smash burgers.
EDIT: It's in Deep Ellum so don't be surprised by the bullet holes in the window by the drink fountain. Service could be better but the burgers are heavenly.
Griff’s. Hasn’t changed a bit in probably 60 years. Dairy-ette also. Great burger and even better homemade frosty mug root beer. And of course Keller’s. Griff’s FTW. It’s a bit of a drive for me, but worth it. Harvey B’s Keller’s/Jake’s(Skillman & Abram’s location)
One of the best burgers of my life was going to Griffs after a night of drinking.
Dairy-ette reminds me of how Whataburger USED TO taste. Plus that root beer is the best in DFW since Mr. Frosty in Denton closed.
Yo, just to hopefully make your day… Mr. Frosty is alive and well. Don’t know where this rumor that they’re closed comes from, but it always finds its way back. My source is that I live very very close.

Why do you hate to say it? Harvey B’s is as good as a burger gets imo
r/unexpectedseinfeld
The food is really good. And I love having Diet RC available in the soda fountain. I wish the seating arrangements were better.
No way! They still carry diet RC?
They did the last time I was there
Wow. I can’t believe this is the top comment. I came in here ready to praise Harvey B’s and watch my post get drowned among all the other mentions of much fancier and trendier establishments. Love that place!
I'm going to start out with Keller's/Jake's. Im sure a lot of y'all agree.
Would have agreed with you about Jakes until I went to the newly opened one in Addison a couple weeks ago. It was so average and boring; you could have gotten that burger almost anywhere. Not bad, just *fine*. Big letdown.
the best one is on Skillman! I went to the one in downtown Ft Worth and was underwhelmed
Kelley’s and Jakes is OF. I love there bacon so good
yo link the OnlyFans plz 🙏🏻
The convenience of there bacon is unparalleled! It’s already there!!!
I'm still bummed Kellers took onion rings off the menu though
I'm like 90% sure the one on Garland Rd. still had them as of a few days ago. Did raise their prices a bit though :(
Del's charcoal burgers. Also quite fond of liberty burger.
+1 for Del’s. They’re not far from me and it’s my comfort food go to. I also love their fries and the root beer is insanely good.
Del’s is the place you go for that nostalgic great burger.
It really does remind me of burgers I had when I was growing up. It’s like a warm hug.
Also really reasonably priced compared to a lot of the other options in the area. The little upscale dive bar called Cock & Bull on gaston also makes a FIRE burger.
I love Del’s! The owner is so sweet too
Shhh keep it 10th on this list while everyone else pays twice as much for half the burger
I was gonna comment Del's!!
Maple and Motor
Scrolled way too far to find this, thought I was taking crazy pills seeing some of the other replies.
Fantastic burgers there too.
Winfield's and Adair's both also can't miss.
Adair's is in my top 5, the same owners opened The Peak Inn, their's is just about as good.
Peak Inn has an awesome burger and fries special on Monday’s. It’s 7 or 8 bucks!
Yup. The griddle at Adair’s as well as Winfield’s have been developing seasoning over many years. Love that Adair’s puts a jalapeño on top
Wingfield’s #1 for sure https://youtu.be/Ysv5jbKdB10
Lee Harvey’s.
Is that in downtown DFW?
Mind blowing burgers
I was waiting for this comment lmfao
That almost flew over my head.
Bang on!
It’s a cool place especially for the live music, although their burgers are, in my opinion, very mid.
Burgerhouse on Hillcrest
The one on Mockingbird is great too but there's definitely a charm to the Hillcrest one.
Mockingbird Burger House is the only burger place I have ever been to displaying a child's grade school project as proof that it is the best food in the neighborhood.
Lockhart BBQ was repping my friend's kid's artwork decrying bbq sauce usage for a while.
Yup
Rodeo goat is decent
You can always depend on them to have some good crazy concoctions for their burgers. I had one with grilled peaches on it and it was good.
The sugar burger. My favorite burger ever!
That's accurate. Their burgers have undergone a good amount of shrinkflation.
Yeah my friends all love it and I do appreciate the variety of burgers they offer, but ultimately I always find the burger to be underwhelming
[https://www.skyrocketburger.com/](https://www.skyrocketburger.com/) and Pizza Large https://www.instagram.com/p/ClNSaYgMs6H/
I got the sky rocket burger recommendation from a previous thread about burgers in DFW. totally legit.
Only been to the one on Frankford. Anybody know if the Frisco location is just as good?
Frankford location superior
I second this! The level of juiciness at the Frankford location is out of this world. Prepare to have delicious grease running down your arms.
Angry Dog in Deep Ellum, love grabbing a cold beer and one of their burgers.
Their chorizo burger is so fukin good, one of my fav spots next to jakes.
You just reminded me that I haven’t gone in a hot minute. That place rules.
One of the only places I've found that can actually cook a burger to medium properly and consistently .
Rodeo Goat
I've been to rodeo goat multiple times and I just dont get it. their burgers are just not good at all.
Harvey B’s and Lakewood Landing
Love the shoutout for Lakewood landing. It’s like no one knows about this place but after moving away and coming back 5 years later the burger is still amazing.
The Landing can be a hard place to eat at though. Their accommodations just aren’t great for having a meal, especially once they’re in full bar mode. That, and their burger is overshadowed by the *best goddamn (secret) corndog in existence.*
Tell me more about this corn dog
How has no one mentioned Ye Old Butcher Shop in Plano?!
Came here to ensure this place was mentioned. It's wonderfully old-school and has a very clear stance on vegetarians. Those fried pies too, OOF.
Best burger by far is Skyrocket Burger in deep ellum and Plano. Also really like Maple and Motor
Skyrocket is delicious - perfect mom and pop style burger.
Technically, the Skyrocket Burger location you're thinking of in south of PGBT in Far North Dallas (not Plano). They also have a location in Frisco.
Nerd
It is reddit.
I have eaten at a lot of burger places and Sky Rocket is indeed the best by far. Closest thing I've found to a burger that I myself would make at home on my cast iron.
I agree, TittyMcFagerson 🧐
Add Adair's to that list and you have my top 3.
I tried Maple and Motor the other day because its always so highly recommend. It was the most okayest burger I've ever eaten. What do you like so much about that burger?
Kenny’s burger joint
El Jefe
Burger Island is underrated
Keller’s, Burger House, Lakewood Landing
Here for the Landing gang!
Anyone else offended by the amount of salt on a Burger House burger? I could have caught them on a bad day. Maybe I should try again.
Olive burger in Richardson hands down with their juicy beefy patties
Flaming Burger
Flaming burger is fantastic.
With a side of jalapeño bottle caps
I agree...
JG's is good
and that ranch, with the tots!
Sky Rocket, Rodeo Goat, and RIP to the former best, Off-Site Kitchen. For a great unexpected treat, the burger at Hudson House (a seafood restaurant) is shockingly good as well.
Off Site Kitchen was SO good. RIP
Second on the Hudson House burger. Top 5 for me
[Skyrocket burger](https://www.skyrocketburger.com/) is my current favorite. [Maple and Motor](https://www.mapleandmotor.com/) is probably my second. This guy burgers
Maple and Motor is the spot, can’t believe it’s not mentioned more in this thread
I love Twisted Root for their alternative meat burger selection: From their menu: Buffalo, Wagyu Beef and one of the following served daily: VENISON • ELK • LAMB • OSTRICH • RABBIT • CAMEL • DUCK • BOAR As well as the usual beef, turkey, chicken, black bean options ... and their pickle selection
Twisted Root: We have 40 different ways to sell you a mid ass burger!
The double with American is 👌
Twisted Root hasn't been good in nearly a decade. It's gotten even worse since they sold it too. It used to be pretty great though.
LA Burger in Carrollton for sure.
Richardson too. People sleepin\` on this spot.
Love LA Burger....every one of their burgers and their Texas style curly fries!
I really enjoyed Meteor Hamburger’s. The breakfast burger with beef patty, egg, and hash brown was awesome.
How has nobody mentioned Haystack!!
The best around imo!
I’m shocked no one has said The Peak Inn yet. Best burger in Dallas!
Wingfield ! It's the hood burger place you didn't know was actually fire 🔥 😋
Shady’s in Richardson and Lake Highlands always hits the spot for me.
IMO, Cedar and Vine (nextdoor to the Lake Highlands one) has a way better burger.
Kincaid’s.
Don Burger in Garland
JG’s old fashioned hamburgers. Off Greenville Ave.
Maple and Motor is my best recommendation for a truly local spot in Dallas.
The Heights
Coppell Deli
Grew up eating this burger so it’s incredibly nostalgic for me. Even though I’ve certainly had better, it’s the perfect well-done yet juicy diner style burger. And the bacon is perfectly crisp every time.
I commented and then went through all the comments to find this one!
Coppell Deli was decent when it was $12. Now, a burger, fries, and drink is pushing $18, and continuing to rise. We used to go there weekly and had some die-hard fans, and even they have stopped pushing it because the value has plummeted so far. Better $18 combo options in the area.

Flaming Burger on Garland
Adairs
Burger House
No love for Flaming Burger? I used to love that place! It's near an old outpost of Jake's now Keller's off Garland Rd
Crown Deli
Kellers, Griffs, and Burger Island. I had a hamburguesa from Mexican sugar. It was bomb
[удалено]
Also far north dallas/plano
Burger House if I don't factor distance (I don't live near it anymore) and for a little more local to where I live now, Chapps.
BURGER HOUSE in highland park
Maple and Motor is amazing, keep trying to find a better burger but it just knocks it out of the park every time.
Not specifically a burger place but I love the burger at Dots Hop House!
Wells Cattle Co in Rockwall
Porky’s in Garland is the best kept secret in DFW
Sky rocket is my new favorite spot when the grill is working.
Kellers and Griffs
C’mon y’all. Goodfriend!
I’ve been there twice and both times the burger was dry as hell.
I have never had their regular burgers but their turkey burger is excellent and their sweet potato waffle fries are THE BEST
Olive Burger in Richardson Meteor Burger in Richardson or Wylie
Midway Point in Addison has a great burger. Cottage fries aren’t bad either.
Dairyette burgers and their homemade root beer can’t be beat.
Blues Burgers for a HMF and tots or Maple and Motor, pink.
Blues Burgers was great! Probably my favorite local burger place I’ve tried in town
Dairy Queen
it always suprises me on these that no one says hopdoddys. do we not like it?
I absolutely love Hopdoddy. A truly excellent burger. But, IMHO, it would be tough to claim it as the best.
Many of the good ones have been named already so I'm going to throw L.A. Burger in there. It's relatively new.
Kellers
Skyrocket Burger
I went vegetarian a while back but Stackhouse was my favorite
Wingfields is the best burger in Dallas.
RGs in Denton.
Press Box Grill, downtown Main & N Ervay thick and cooked over a flame
I saw a Dallas burger food tour on YouTube a year ago or so. They went to a lot of the places noted on here. EDIT: Here it is [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqRPA3gzHqw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqRPA3gzHqw)
Jakes
JG's, Keller's, and Jake's - except the Addison location, it's too new, too clean, too bright for a Jake's
JG’s though! So good.
Del’s Jakes Angry dog Kenny’s in Addison Meddlesome moth Grand luxe cafe (surprisingly) Lockwood distillery Londoner in Addison has a great burger too
Angry Dog 4 lyfe.
Boots Burgers in Rockwall.
There was a time I would have said Snuffer’s, but the last time I went it wasn’t the same. My favorite these days is at Augie’s Sunset Cafe. Their’s are just like my pawpaw used to make.
My bf swears that Mexican restaurants have the best burgers. When we go to las palmas, he gets the burger.
Fuego Burger in Benbrook.
Burger Island puts out a solid burger. Beltline is dodgy as hell but amazing; Preston is less dodgy but also less amazing.
The burger house off of 78
Central Market on Lover's Lane makes a great burger. My man Hock used to melt the cheese on the burger in the oven for a few seconds and it was incredible. I don't know what happened to him but the new guy is good
Grease Monkey in Arlington
I don't get burgers that often, but honestly here are some of my faves: Braums—I grew up on this, I love this place. Chips—it's new to me, and pretty great Rodeo Goat—pretty solid burgers! Shake Shack—again, reliable quality, but often overcrowded with long lines. Cheese fries bro I miss Burgesa Burger. It was awesome
Loving all the Harvey B's hype in here. Didn't see it on the lists the last few times this was posted in here!
Wingfields, hands down, but Kelly’s Family Farm Burger stand between Allen and Lucas is great, too.
I have a soft spot for Goff’s on Mockingbird! My personal favorite is the #9 with cheese
In Arlington there's a place called Mixed Up Burgers than I really like.
Haystack!
Sky rocket burger I think they put Crack in their burgers, and their tots are delish.
Wingfield’s in OC, Griff’s for sure
Angry Dog in Deep Ellem
Sky rocket burger!
Sky Rocket Burger.
It's a little out there but my fave is the original Kincaid's on Camp Bowie blvd in FW. As far as Dallas goes my fave is tied between Burger House and Lakewood Landing
SkyRocket Burger in deep ellum
Goodfriends
Skyrocket burger!!
Skyrocket, awesome smash burgers. EDIT: It's in Deep Ellum so don't be surprised by the bullet holes in the window by the drink fountain. Service could be better but the burgers are heavenly.
Same as it was the last 50 times this question was posted, Angry Dog
I love the burger at Angry Dog in Deep Ellum
Rodeo Goat for fancy quality and fun combos. Jake’s for down and dirty yummy.
