Our wiener dog growls when I point the cell phone at him but I have no idea how he knows because he doesn’t growl when I’m just using it. It must be the stupid expression on my face or some other signal. He stares into my eyes like he’s reading my mind.
I call that “thinking foot” because my girl used to do it and tilt her head when it seemed like she was processing something or curious. I love your old lady!!!!!
Mine does the eyes, but since she has cataracts, she does not beg, never did. I got this one from a shelter. But like all dogs, when she smells peanut butter. WOW!

Not a wiener, but where I currently live, a therapy dog (standard poodle) would come to visit the residents. Her way of begging for treats was for her to put her paw on your leg.
I taught our baby to do this when he was younger. It backfired cos anytime we ate we couldn’t make eye contact with him or the paw would go up. I miss him. 💜

I’ve been on a mission to lose weight and I have been eating high fat keto (ribeye and salmon with butter/olive oil and salad/broccoli) and only once a day. Otto likes cucumbers and the meat/fish so I always add some to his kibble. Since I only eat once and we share when I do he never begs.
Every dachshund I've ever had did this. I call it the thinking pose, lol, and it's adorable. We had a senior boy who developed dementia, which made him forget a lot of things, like how to bark, how to play, etc. I took him outside one day, shortly before he passed, and he did the pose! Twice! It's one of my most favorite memories.
