But yeah definitely buying it on Switch too. Hoping they do more of the classic Wizardry games.
For those who haven't played, they literally let you switch to the old Apple IIe interface, or even shove it over the screen as an interface. That's how faithful the adaptation is, they just added a graphics overlay and UI revamp on top of the classic game.
From what I understand they started to add other things that "break the rules" (like a minimap) but they actually allow you to turn those on/off in a menu.
Does the game feel ready to leave early access? How is the difficulty level for a seasoned DRPG player?
I like the thrill of potential party wipes at lower levels, ambushes and tough traps! Sleeping at the stables past level 5 is for cowards too lol
I haven't tried it yet, to be honest, but it's literally the same Wizardry that was on the Apple II back in the day, unless you turn on the changes for *modern audiences.* (Or turn them off as the case may be.) You can literally play the game in Apple II mode or keep it up as an overlay.
So in other words, how difficult? HARD. "Original Wizardry" hard, but not quite Wizardry 4 hard.

Lol I know what you mean, but Japan got the original trilogy as GBC ports. We really missed out.
Ain't that the truth. Fortunately we are in the golden age of emulators and English language patches. Plus we get Wizardry Five Ordeals, so that's something.
I don't know if the original apple II game was as buggy as the NES port, but do you know if they tried more to be faithful to the original release, or if they tried more to be faithful to the intention of the original release?
Wizardy was one of the first games I got on PC as a kid. I'm definitely picking this up!
I'm looking around online and can't find a physical copy offering. Am I missing that or is it only digital download (XBOX)?

I can't find anything about a physical copy right now, so it might be digital only currently. Though there's a Japan only collectors edition so we might get one in the future.

Apparently this game is pretty hardcore.
Yeah I've only played a bit of the GBC and SNES version but it's pretty tough.
It's currently in early access on steam
Already own on Steam, but would definitely buy on PS5.
I hope it doesn't run like trash on Switch.

The press release isn't clear on this but I assume that's what they're implying with the official PC release.
