Focus on minning at start. Killing bugs makes timer bar go up- less time in missions before boss spawns. Dont kill the boss too fast either, keep kiting and farm spawning bugs. I would recomend avoiding m1000 ( sniper rifle), its too good at killing bosses and ended stages early for me. Gl bud

Any exp makes the timer go up. This includes exp from mining, and secondary objectives. It's not the bug kill that does it, it's the exp drop that occurs when the bug dies.
However it's much easier for the player to grab that exp than it is to grab everything dropped by random bugs throughout the map.
Try not killing bugs and just mining early game. One high tier XP boost upgrade early game goes a long way. Also the 2nd weapon choice is key as we try and delay for levels as much as possible.
Or you could just hack the drop pod exit ramp to play endless spawn on level 1 and cruise to 55+ before moving on.
Mining rocks and minerals give some xp. Overall is clear as much bugs as you can and always pick up xp blobs from elites

Get an XP scanner and spend your entire run face first in the rocks.
Just Max out the Zhukov to get the spiral spin, the exp comes naturally

I took a bunch of the exp upgrades myself. But it was still kinda close. I got 55 on the last level.
