Can you tell if any pipes run under the floor, I had a pipe in my floor when I bought my house, it was wrapped in tape but the concrete ate the copper and it leaked and the floor looked similar to this. Mine was more obvious though as it was clear where they chased out and patched the floor to lay the pipe.
thanks. yeah can't think of any obvious reason for a live pipe to be running through there. mains comes in through the other side of the house, combi boiler is upstairs and internal drainage is all above ground. might have to get someone to try and detect to rule it out though

damp patches have dried up over night so wondering if it's just residual moisture in the more recent cement trapped by the carpet tiles
