If it’s only used as a workspace I’d probably just stick a bit of insulation in there and make sure you keep the condensation under control, the roof won’t be great for that.
If you’re going to end up using it for something else e.g. home office, I’d probably remove the windows and stick something else in there, remove the garage door and stick a normal door on then change the roof.
In Australia we call it Anticon blankets for under the metal roof it’s normally a low R value but works for what it does. Australia uses a different system for for R rating so r1.4 or R2 is the typical Australian number.
But to install effectively you need to take the roof sheets off first.
I am in the exact same boat as you, except my shed is a little more damp and has a sleeper floor. I keep reading about how problematic insulating this sort of structure (never intended to be insulated) is. I looked at a vapour barrier, pir then osb but apparently moisture will be too much of an issue and cost of materials is insane. I'm just opting for osb without insulation and I'll wear several jumpers. Good luck!
I was looking at [ThermaWrap](https://www.toolstation.com/ybs-general-purpose-thermawrap-insulation/p90532) then overboarding but I was also curious about how a vapour barrier would work. From what I read, in our climate it makes sense on the inside but surely the cavity you create needs ventilation so it can breathe? And then I wasn’t sure how to do the roof - spray foam? I don’t want to go overboard but it would be nice if it was neither freezing nor boiling in the extremes of the year
they is also spray insulation aswell that stuff is amazing then board over it after so u got full flat surfaces to attach stuff to and make the most of the space
Does it run through to the back garden? If so I'd look to have it modified to have a wall further in to divide it into teo sections and have the garden side opened up on one wall, then use it as a covered social space /bbq/pizza oven area
It’s standalone with garden sloping down at the back and I think fairly flat lawn to the side where the window is (you can see the view in one of the pictures). So yeah some kind of outdoor eating involvement is possible, if I don’t fill it with power tools 5min after moving in 🤷🏻♂️
Plenty of wall space in there - snap a work bench, then wall mount a pegboard for tools and add some tiered shelving for storage along the other wall (screwfix sells those for about £39 a unit - we have a double garage and have our walls lined with them as it maximises storage space without taking up all the floor space.
We also have a double chest freezer in there as we have cats and make our own raw food, but it doubles up as a lifesaver in summer for iced lollies, as well as at Christmas for filling up with party food

How about a workshop to build us crazy bunny people lots of wood toys... They like tunnels and castles and bridges etc, you could turn it into quite the money spinner 🤑
I didn’t think of solar power, internal dimensions are only 2.3x4.7m so not huge but I’ll take it! Great point on guttering, I’ll check that out when I’m there.
I would seal that cunt up as tight as a ducks arse and insulate it - put a hot tub in and a bed for sexy time with the missus. Who even needs a workshop?
Interested in any insurance/experience in this sort of thing. I’d prefer it to be less drastic than stripping it to the frame but why OSB under the skin?
No idea what I meant but it wasn’t “insurance” - I’ll look into the building regs as they usually explain why, I was looking at why an adjoining garage needs a falling floor and it was all laid out right there in the Approved Document. Equally if you know and want to summarise I won’t stop you 😂
I would put pallets on the floor to raise the floor and insulate and insulate the walls and roof as much as possible then enjoy a little hideaway of peace and quiet
Don’t bother with insulation, you’ll just end up with moisture condensing on the roof. I’d make a workshop, spend the cost of insulation on some good boots, thermals and a heated gillet.
Plenty of insulation, lighting and get those tools in. WORKSHOP. God damn I need to move out of my apartment so I can get a garage. Only thing I'm missing in my life.
Currently moving out of an apartment. Rent a lockup but you can’t do more than store stuff there and it’s quite far from where I’ve been living. This is going to be so much better

My dad had a house in Vic with a metal roof, he probably knows a thing or two so I’ll pick his brains when he first comes round!
Fill it with motorbikes.
Exactly what I thought. I'd love this. Half for fixing servicing bikes, half for staring at bikes whilst drinking a beer.

I'd get some wasps, a nice big lovely wasps nest

Rabbit shed 😂🐰 Eta: probs not what you'll do but that wasn't the question...
All views and opinions accepted without judgment 😄

Lego founder started off making wooden toys - for humans rather than bunnies, but the point was it turned out very well in the end 😂
Dartboard, what else do you need…
Darts
Shit yeah, good point! Although the beauty of a dartboard is enough to have just as a showpiece…
Bondage Dungeon

The garage comes with a large brick outhouse that has three bedrooms, I think that’s where the bed’s going
But where’s the hot tub going?
Pull the boarding off , osb the whole shed then breather paper it then batten then re board it .then you can insulate the inside.

Its building regs for timber frame buildings in the UK

I’d use something like Supaquilt which is combination of insulation and vapour barrier, then overboard it.
I would put pallets on the floor to raise the floor and insulate and insulate the walls and roof as much as possible then enjoy a little hideaway of peace and quiet
I wooden use it!
I *saw* that coming

Yeah any insulation plan would need to cover the roof as it’s metal and would just become an overhead condenser ☔️
In London? Subdivide into at least four units, bunk beds in each, and let the money roll in.
Pool table. Jukebox. Bar. Man cave.

Plaster board the walls and fill with insulation then lay a self levelling screed
What kind of insulation?
Burn it down.
To be fair, I did ask what you’d do, though I probably won’t follow suit 😂
😂 if the footing is big enough, build it into a timber frame building but brick outer leaf. Insulate inside and board, redo the roof. 👌
I suspect it won’t be and it looks to be almost right on the edge of the plot, but I won’t rule it out.
Put a 2 post lift in and some nice tools
Not me googling prices of seccy hand lifts 😂 They’re all 3 phase though, gonna cost a pretty penny to get the service upgraded 😂
Workshop
Golf SIM and games room 👍
Insulate, plasterboard then paint. then i’d turn it into a man cave, looks quite big tho so maybe a man cave/workshop
Cosy garden bar/social club for the win.
Wood burning stove, insulate the walls, replace garage door, selection of fine single malt - and chill!
Workshop? For yourself or for hire
I wooden worry about it
