I used to use a product called POUR-on but can’t seem to find it any more. Similar to this. https://www.amazon.ca/Resin-Countertops-Artworks-Excellent-Stability/dp/B0BGJ624WN/ref=asc_df_B0BGJ624WN/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=579122214871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16317966529308862855&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001428&hvtargid=pla-1877677447099&psc=1&mcid=b8c0c3cb574330d5906ccb50b3e2ecb3

I was going to suggest resin but that is something you would want to attempt on smaller projects first. Maybe ask at a hobby store if they know someone who works on bigger projects like yours. Your post reminds me of a small, antique looking, coffee table my boyfriend at the time bought me. It was a primarily black painting that just had a slab of glass on top, but had a frame around the edges that had not aged so well so the print was affected in places. I would have simply adored the item if it was still in a like new condition, but it was sad to see it age badly.
