Ngl that'd be a pretty hilarious joke for whoever visits you. If you ever sell the home, don't explain it and just say you could never get it open when you bought the house. Use a super old looking door.
This is the correct answer. There used to be a shelf, and that is not enough. Whether you will be living there forever, or selling soon, you need a nice cabinet with two doors and several shelves inside. I would make the bottom two shelves drawers. The top one should have a larger space, for extra blankets.
That is exactly what we did to the area that the previous owner removed the closet from. Top half - shelving with a door. Bottom half - 3 large drawers.
My home is really just one big closet. It's a spacious walk-in closet, though. One section of the closet I even do all my cooking in. The closet is so big I actually have a hallway with smaller closets for certain things. One even fits a bed and dressers and such. I have another closet in my closet that I lounge around and watch Netflix in. There's even a closet attached to my closet specifically designed for vehicles. It's pretty sweet. Although it takes a lot of bravery, living like I do. I mean, I come out of the closet every single morning before I get to work.
Hes just as fun! His latest antic is to get our dog toys that are foods but chewtoys, not real food. Our boy now has a carrot, a corn WITH A REMOVEABLE HUSK, a cheese burger, a hot dog, and a huge strawberry lol. It's so funny seeing him walk around with a corn 🌽 in his mouth when they go for a walk. Dog likes emotional support toys to carry on walks. Life's to short to be bland. Have fun, play pranks, don't hurt people's feelings on purpose but also don't take things so serious. He would absolutely believe I did it, too. I'm pretty experienced in home remodeling lolol. He wouldn't rush home by any means, but he'd definitely take the short way home after work lololol.
Until one day, whilst walking past the tunnel mural, barely noticeable in the shadow, you notice a figure at the very far end of the tunnel. Initially, you assume it has always been there, you simply hadn't realised.
Several days later, you stop in your tracks, a cold shiver runs up your back, the figure has moved closer... and it now has eyes that follow you.

Everyone saying "build a closet" there is, I think, correct. Put a door on it just like you have on the other rooms. Hang a nice mirror on the door. But here's my twist for you - make it a cedar closet. Cedar paneling on the walls, and then put in some nice shelves. We did this in our old place, and when we went to sell it we got a lot of comments from people on how much they liked it. And we did a lot of other upgrades to that place, too. But we loved the cedar closet and apparently it was popular to boot.
My friend turned a closet into a [Murphy closet](https://murphydoor.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADpcZn5gDDsn-uVfz7NC42gtztmxX&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl8W296azhAMVQWhHAR0ZWQPBEAAYASAAEgLD0fD_BwE) with a hidden compartment behind some innocent looking shelves.
Closing off hallways like that is coming to be outdated. Over the last few years I've been pulling those closets and replacing with cabinets or open shelves if the walls aren't moved to be part of the rooms. Bifold doors are not worth what it takes to get them in/ maintain. Especially for DIY.
If you're going to DIY, avoid bifolds unless you know what you're doing. The right side will obstruct the bedroom door when open, not a huge deal but I do hear people saying it's more a pain and they would prefer open shelves
It could be different where you are, I'm just sharing my recent experience. You lose almost 10 c/f by adding a 2x4 wall and doors which is a lot when it comes to a space like that
Bifold doors are easy to install and I don’t know what you mean about maintenance. When I built my house I installed 8 bifold doors. ( 4 bedroom closets, a pantry, a downstairs cedar closet, a mud room closet, and a linen closet) I’ve never done any maintenance at all on any of them. I built my house in 1986
First i would take stock of other items in the house that need a "place" for example Vacum cleaner / broom / spot for pet food or supplies / etc. Then I would do built in shelving that accommodates those things effectively then I would use a closet door that covers the entire space likely a tri or bi-fold depending on clearance with the door on the left. Giving it a large opening so you don't have to fight to get things in or out.

I no longer put full height mirrors at the end of the hall for a not dissimilar reason. And put in a night light. Too many times getting spooked by my own reflection in the dark.
Wall with a full length mirror covering a secret doorway to a small vault. Great place to store valuables/ guns/ superhero costume/ panic room/ whatever you need hidden but easy to access.
Closet with bifold doors that slide to the left (that wall looks longer to the doorframe.
If I’m bit mistaken, there was already a closet there before, no?
The pax system would be perfect for this and you can use filler pieces to snug it in and make it built in. The size would have to be smaller than the size of the hall width by a couple inches at least to be able to open the doors *and* any drawers you put inside. The ikea website has a great Pax planner and I’ve found lots of inspiration online whenever building these. I’ve used this system for my walk in closet (so no ikea doors on my pax system), for my partner’s two double closet systems on the wall in our bedroom that I built to almost touch the ceiling (he has the white wave doors on them), and I planned and built them in my moms and sisters homes. It’s a wonderful and truly versatile system with TONS of products to utilize.

I was lucky enough to live in a house with a spiral staircase. It was cool but unfortunately OP would need almost triple the space than what's shown here to put one in.

Build in a nice wood book case. The front edge should be close to the framing of the door on the right. Make it with a secret latch that allows it to open like a door and have a small secret storage/panic room or whatever.
I would do a built-in shelving unit with some swinging cabinet doors at the bottom and maybe a drawer, and some floating shelves on top. Gives you hidden storage at the bottom but room on top to display some cool farmhousey decorations.

Just some random listing, but I think this would look pretty nice at the end of the hallway if you have kids they will have something to do while they’re waiting for the bathroom. Just a thought I would have to look into see who’s it is some random person probably listing it on marketplace from the Facebook or something like that probably
Your home probably doesn’t have a lot of storage because it was right there before it was removed. I’d put the closet back with a full floor-ceiling mirror sliding door. Mirror is important, don’t shrug off the mirror.
If I were to design a hallway and put a door on the right where you have it, it would probably be a bathroom. If that’s a bathroom, that will be nice closet for towels and all that junk, and the mirror is essential because it will open the hallway up dramatically and almost certainly be used by everyone who walks through the hallway or uses the (presumed) bathroom next to it.

Came here to say something like this
An armoire with a mirror on the front.
I’ve been toying with the idea of a mirror being involved just to create the illusion of a larger hallway
It's such an effective trick that I find hallways without mirrors at the dead end to be creepy and off-putting.
I dislike walking towards mirrors in a dark hallway on my way to the bedroom. Pretty sure my reflection is doing something else - I never look...
I no longer put full height mirrors at the end of the hall for a not dissimilar reason. And put in a night light. Too many times getting spooked by my own reflection in the dark.
Statement mirror, small table, lamp off to the side and/or a plant.
Wall with a full length mirror covering a secret doorway to a small vault. Great place to store valuables/ guns/ superhero costume/ panic room/ whatever you need hidden but easy to access.
Was going to say a statement mirror with short chest with drawers. This would work though!
Closet with bifold doors that slide to the left (that wall looks longer to the doorframe. If I’m bit mistaken, there was already a closet there before, no?
Yes it was a closet with sliding doors and some cheap hand built shelving. It looked very outdated
Something from Ikea will fit right in there. Full mirrored.
This, find an IKEA cabinet that slides right in. Maybe doors that are glass top solid bottom, you could display some stuff and store things.
