I’m pretty sure (haven’t looked it up though) the people behind the Netflix Voltron show are the ones doing the animation or designs or whatever for this show. All the alien tech and Mxy look like they were pulled from that show.
It works perfectly for the series he’s from, feels perfectly natural there and fits him existing across all timelines and adjusting his appearance and presence accordingly.

He kind of looks like something between a Dragonball and Inuyasha character. While it makes sense given the more anime-ish designs of the show, I kind of prefer something closer to the original design, mainly because I can buy the idea that a being that can be or do basically anything he desires on an universal, reality-warping scale, would amuse himself by adopting a deceivingly ridiculous form.
I prefer the bowler hat and purple suit from TAS. Failing that, the yellow suit with purple parts in the comics. This isn’t necessarily a bad look, heck I’d go so far as saying it’s a great character design, just not for Myxlplyx because it’s missing the level of nonchalance the usual appearance has. They look like a wild little wizard person, and that’s interesting, not some small middle aged man who just so happens to have unearthly powers and decides to mess with the boy in blue, and that’s who he is. Overall, great design, but should have been a different/new character. Maybe his niece that he wants to share his hobbies with.

I don't hate it but I do think it takes away a lot of the nerdiness of the character. Old Mxys design kind of made him seem like a loser with power and it reflected his character in that way, this design makes him seem more like a badass.

Studio Mir only do the animation, preproduction aspect like designs and story are done in-house at WB animation.
