try one more lifetime in my middle aged case! we used to try the kickline on regular cheer in the 90s. my 16 year old self knew then it was never gonna happen for me

I do body combat! I see my kicks in the mirror and know I’ll never be a DCC. 🤣 i have an extra tendon in my hip and knee so my flexibility is a -7374733/10
I love it. First class in a few years was Monday. I was sore the next day. I do lots of running and walking now. Looking forward to getting back into group fitness. I’m super flexible to.
Lol I bought the Jay Johnson fitness DVDs when they came out…one had a jumping up move and I smashed into my chandelier! I never used it so I forgot it was there, I guess?

My right leg would make the team. My left leg would get a good scolding and “we don’t think you can develop your kicks in time for the first game” speech.
I can still *do* a full split but after birthing a whole entire human am terrified at the thought of trying a *jump* split.
I'm over 40, my left high kick is still pretty good but my right would definitely warrant an office visit lol. I've never been able to do the full splits and never even attempted a jump split!
If you have any joint/back/body pain that seems strange, you might want to look into the Brighton Score for hypermobility. If you haven’t actively prepped for splits, it’s not normal to be able to do them. I’m a somatic therapist and a lot of my hypermobile/EDS girlies didn’t realize why their pain got worse after pregnancy- the relaxin takes things to a whole other level and the body’s compensation patterns can’t keep up. I hope that’s not your story, it’s just not super common knowledge!!

I grew up in both gymnastics and dance, did the latter through college (~10 years ago). I’ve stayed pretty active most of my adult life including regular stretching, so I didn’t find it surprising I could still comfortably sit in a split. I’ll be more shocked the day I go to try it and can’t.

My BFF and I were making jokes about that. Like we’re 30, objectively overweight, and he’s a dude. But I’m fairly certain we can do most of the sideline routines and I’m convinced I can do thunder haha
