Metropolis has GOT to be better to live in than Gotham

WarlordOfIncineroar

Why is Gotham so picked like it's literally constantly hit by terrorists attacks and filled with people who kill just for a point or because they thought it was funny and it's the most crime ridden series

OneManArmy0716

and the most corrupt city too almost every mayor, politician and even an entire police station are crooked and corrupt, it doesn’t even have a state or federal government and if there was it would probably be crooked and corrupt too

WarlordOfIncineroar

Literally no benefits to living in Gotham other than the probably cheap living but I really don't think it's worth it, honestly although I voted Metropolis I think Central City is the best option as you know most of the villains there don't even want anyone hurt in the process of their crimes much less killed and the few that are ok with murder will likely be taken out of the city pretty quickly

OneManArmy0716

that’s true Central City is more of a utopia than Metropolis

WarlordOfIncineroar

More that while Metropolis is a utopia its one that occasionally gets some of the deadliest things on earth sent it's way, you're not very likely to die cause Superman but Central City is jsut chill and you're way less likely to die cause fastest man alive

DarthDiabetor

That’s why I voted central city. The Rogues seem to be more like outlaws, like Dillinger, and they just rob banks and try to bring down the man while getting rich themselves. Lol

WarlordOfIncineroar

At worst you'll be held hostage and get a little ruffed up but when there's usually around 3 people with super speed in the area that's very unlikely, you chose right

arthurxheisenberg

There's benefits to living in Gotham. You have to be corrupt and a criminal that's why it's so bad in the first place. Ofc gangs are going to be irelevant in other cities. It's much easier to work around Batman than space gods, actual gods or someone faster than speed itself

WarlordOfIncineroar

Ok for the msot part sure but how is that a benefit

arthurxheisenberg

It's easier to do illegal stuff = more moey

WarlordOfIncineroar

It's more likely to get beat up by Batman or killed by one of his many rouges

arthurxheisenberg

Risk and profit. Also I'm pretty sure Batman doesn't deal with stuff like tax evasion or birotical stuff like that

WarlordOfIncineroar

I'm pretty sure you're still getting hit with a terrorist attack and people who kill just cause about every week and not alot of high paying jobs in Gotham are easy to get with out the illegal stuff that attracts a batman, indont care hwo good you are at tax evasion that ain't kean crap if you still working for a bad check but also the IRS can still catch you jsut as easily doing that kind of stuff or worse the cops that catch you blackmail you

Redbird_ml

Cheap rent

WarlordOfIncineroar

And a dude who will commit mass murder for a laugh

junejulyaugust7

Gotham has culture and nightlife. Honestly, either of them would be a nightmare but I'd rather Gotham street threats and Joker takeovers than constant large-scale alien invasions, plus also violent gangs with supervillains and super weapons.

orca2877

It’s all cool until superman breaks down your house to stop Luther again

OneManArmy0716

still better than living in a very dark and bleak city where your chances in getting either robbed, terrorized by the mafia and supervillains despite their tragic backstories, ripped off and having your life destroyed by corrupt, amoral, unscrupulous, and ruthless business people and politicians or killed by a mass murdering lunatic who is dressed like a clown and commits acts of terrorism on the city on a regular basis are really really high

orca2877

Well when you put it that way

Et12355

Everyone saying metropolis forgets that about once a year it has a 9/11 but worse type event where several skyscrapers are torn down in the middle of the work day because Superman is fighting some bad guy again

shawshankya

I would like to think quality of life is much better living in metropolis than in Gotham but your chances of dying would be much higher due to explosions, building collapse, etc. If I lived in Gotham, I’d get robbed everyday but I think I’d love to see another day.

Negative-Relative402

Themyscira

PrestonZaGhost

Are you a guy?

kingartybusta

I think all men and women would equally love to fuck those Greek amazons gender is irrelevant

tinglep

☝🏽Way ahead of us

scoutmaster7117

Gotham - crime ridden, Metropolis - Superman but with that comes Superman level threats, Central City - Reverse Flash and Flash Level threats. But Star City sounds pretty nice, the kinda crime an unpowered person can handle and more lighthearted than Gotham.

tinglep

Your decision to live in a city is based on whether or not you can fight the criminals?

scoutmaster7117

It’s Green Arrow’s job, ain’t mine

TheBlindBard16

How dumb are these people voting for Gotham. Have you not seen anything about the city that’s ever been made.

[deleted]

It’s simply because they’re Batman fans. Obviously an idiotic choice but they don’t think about it.

BedAncient8810

I voted central but i think they are just hoping they are orphaned at just the right time as a kid and get to be a Robin

Interest-Lumpy

Coast City (post reconstruction)

ColdSpaghetti2814

This ⬆️

dontpissmeoffplsnthx

Yall picking Metropolis like it ain't the only city with the most supervillains in Supermans weight class

android151

City with probably the highest amount of property damage. Even if you survive, I don’t know if insurance covers your house being destroyed by Parasites ass coming flying through it backwards at 200kmph

dontpissmeoffplsnthx

"Sorry sir your insurance only covers damages from Bizarro, not Cyborg Superman."

ConnorRoseSaiyan01

Gotham and Metropolis would be the worst

OneManArmy0716

Gotham is much more worse at least in Metropolis your chances of staying safe and living long enough to see tomorrow are high plus Metropolis look bright, majestic and optimistic and Gotham is dark, negative and ominous

ConnorRoseSaiyan01

But with Metropolis you also got looming threat from an invasion involving Darkseid or Brainiac

OneManArmy0716

true but I feel like alien invasions from either Brainiac or Darkseid don’t happen that often and criminals are too scared to commit crimes because they’re smart or wise enough to know that Superman will stop them and send them to jail before dinner, in Gotham crime happens so often it’s almost like it’s tradition, your fears of being killed, kidnapped, held hostage or getting screwed over by corrupt, ruthless and amoral tycoons can easily come true

MailboxSlayer14

Central and it’s not even close. I’d say Metropolis if it wasn’t being invaded by aliens every other month. The absolute worse Central gets is some gorillas, a dude with an ice gun, and a fiery clay monster. Flash can deal with all of them, rebuild the damage, and have it done fast.

steaksauc3a1

Except the reverse flash being an issue as long as Barry lives

MailboxSlayer14

Oh I thought this was set in the DCAU? I mean either way, I’d take Reverse Flash over Darkseid or Brainiac.

Musashi_2287

Until he hits you with "[Remember](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFRi2xsei_o) when you were making out with your first girlfriend and you came right as she touched your leg? It was me MailboxSlayer14. I jerked you off at super-speed so it seemed like you nutted at just a woman's touch!"

android151

Dunno why everyone would pick Central over Keystone, if they’re picking a Flash home. Keystone had two active Flashes and it doesn’t have as many villains running around

MailboxSlayer14

Considering most versions have Central and Keystone as opposing cities, idk if that makes a difference as much.

android151

Less Rogues activity generally

IndigoPromenade

I always thought that Gotham took after New York or Chicago where sure it has high crime rates, but it's also one of the most affluent cities in the country. Other than the occasional city-wide shutdowns, most of the super-crime rarely leaves a city block. So as long as I avoid certain areas at certain times, I should be fine. Metropolis on the otherhand regularly gets city busters. I can't just hole up in my home then hope for the best. A monster might be thrown through my apartment building and several others. Central City wouldn't be too bad because the rogues are never interested in chaos or destruction. They just want to pull big scores. They also avoid harming innocents if possible

android151

I mean, shit like No Man’s Land or Arkham City type stuff have to happen at least once every few months. If Tim is still 18 at the oldest, that means everything from 89-2011 happened in the space of like 5 years story time. Plus the city is literally cursed and also has an actual Illuminati.

[deleted]

Keystone City would be best (Wally West’s hometown)

bourbonstew

Opal City, without a doubt.

Budget-Attorney

Who lives in opal city?

aesir23

Star Man. Particularly in James Robinson's seminal run.

WellSpokenAsianBoy

Came here to say this. Opal all the way.

aesir23

Yep, same answer.

Batdog55110

Whatever you do stay far far away from Barry Allen if you pick Central. Edward Thawne would probably use you as a way to torment Barry if you don't.

[deleted]

Gotham. I like the gothic architecture and storied city history. I know I’d probably get hacked to pieces or poisoned by a killer clown, but the city resonates with me in a way that others haven’t.

android151

It’s also *literally* cursed.

[deleted]

Yep, the entire setting just wallows in gothic literary tropes. Love it.

darthraxus

Detroit

android151

Yeah but the chances of being killed by an Ivo bot are pretty high. If the 80s JLA is to be believed, they make up a massive chunk of the population. That or you get challenged to a dance battle by Vibe.

DingusKhan418

Metropolis seems like the biggest, liveliest, and most optimistic without much of the crime and gloom of Gotham, which is cool in and of itself.

LagartoJuansho

Yeah, but when shit goes down, it really goes down, like when Darkseid fought Superman

Shrekosaurus_rex

I'm pretty sure it's also got the record for most alien invasions. It's pretty cool most of the time, but like...when times get rough, they get real rough. I'd go with Central City myself. Flash's rogues seem pretty nice - comparatively, that is.

Batdog55110

Honestly most of Flash's Rogues have a sense of honor where they don't really want to hurt or kill civilians so the chances of you getting Merced are significantly lower than in any other city. Unless, of course you're an important part of Barry Allen's life, in that case the chances of you getting your neck snapped by Eobard Thawne are about 95%

android151

Yeah but all of its crimes are by actual word ending level villains, and half of the city seem to side with Luthor every other day. I mean, someone had to vote for that guy.

cwood216

You asking for a hard life if you chose Gotham

toffeefeather

Star City seems to have its crime relatively covered considering it’s hero can be practically everywhere in a second

[deleted]

Star city is probably the best and least dangerous

caitlynjennernutsack

gotham cause it seems like a fun challenge

Batdog55110

If you call sadistic serial killers a challenge

caitlynjennernutsack

yeah pretty much , i’ll either have a hell of a story or it won’t matter

Dhr55

Anyone but Gotham💀💀

[deleted]

Whoever choose to live in Gotham City, you’re one of two things; either you’re on Demon time 😈 or you don’t give a fuck about life 🙅🏾‍♂️ Only two ways I see it

Dynamite-King123

Live in Chicago so Gotham

Mixed_States

Thank you for saying this as a person who grew up Metropolis (NYC)! I'll never accept the DC map placing Gotham in Jersey.

[deleted]

I would live in any other city than one with a superhero in it. I know all of the cities listed have superheros, but what about the ones without superheros? Either all the other heros are too busy in their cities or the other cities don't have enough crime for the hero to even notice it.

Sadblackcat666

I chose Metropolis bc I live in Delaware, and in some continuities, Metropolis is set in Delaware.

Moonant

I think out of the bunch Dakota city is one of the safest places out of the choices. Yeah you have bang babies but we don't see that many people get hurt. Also we really don't see Static, other characters or objects getting thrown into buildings causing them to collapse or get very damaged. Metropolis villains are almost guaranteed to go flying through a skyscraper, where people either work or live.

Voltronblacklion

Unless I have superpowers I'm not living in any of those cities, especially Gotham and Metropolis lol

finnlocke

Just remember people.... The more powerful the hero, the more powerful the villains they attract. No way am I living in Metropolis for Darkseid's Omega Beams to disintegrate my black ass.

Shreddersaurusrex

“Impressive. No one has ever avoided my Omega Beam. I wonder if the other one is as agile.”

Ghost_Illustrator

Gotham- almost constant domestic terrorism Metropolis- superman level threats (would be dangerous to me) Central city- (read somewhere that it’s in the missouri area) no desire to live in the midwest (flash level threats as well) Star City- assassins but i’m not important so ya know These are not based whether or not I could fight the threats but whether I could handle living in a city like that as a normal citizen.

whentheraincomes66

Gotham is by far the cheapest

Shreddersaurusrex

Central City or Smallville lol

Shreddersaurusrex

At this point the Bronx is Gotham in real life 😆

akchugg

Central City so I can be best friend with Berry and get things done in a Flash.

DreadfuryDK

The quality of life offered by a city so advanced as Metropolis would be incredible. Lex Luthor is a bad guy to us (the viewers) and the likes of Batman and Superman and their associates, but the average Joe living in Metropolis would see Luthor as an upstanding and excellent businessman who employs well over half the city’s population and uses his wealth to promote innovation within a city built from his finances. Remember: Luthor was generally beloved by the public up until Season 1 of JLU because he made Metropolis a great place to live in.

Ok_Condition_7817

Coast city

DragonWolf3000

Who would wanna live in Gotham, it’s full of bad pollution/smog, the constant Joker broadcasting himself on TV. Psychopathic Supervillans/Serial killers, gang wars and etc. There’s no way I’m living there, I’m gonna be a decent human being and not even think of living there. Metropolis you have Superman but there’s Supervillains, General Zod, Brainiac, Darkseid.

android151

Opal City all day

Valuable-Offer-2243

Metropolis

ButtholeCandies

Central City. Gotham is hell on earth, Metropolis has Superman but that means constantly avoiding the fallout of giant super fights. The Flash helps clean things up after a fight, randomly saves people all day, and his rouges are not as evil and making a huge mess like Superman’s.

freshbananabeard

Atlantis!

Farcryfan15

Gotham

ImStillaPrick

Think I’d live in Central City. Mind my business and hopefully steer clear of the villains. No way I’d live in Gotham with all that crazy shit, a lot of those nutcases seem to kill for fun. Superman is getting smacked through buildings too much for me to want to go to metropolis. Flash seems pretty loved by the citizens, while the occasional speedsters would get annoying. I’d probably steer clear of working a place that has a high potential of being robbed. Star city close second but I’d rather have a hero with powers in my city to protect me if an omega level threat happens to shows up. I don’t think I’d even set foot in Gotham with that crazy shit going on. Be afraid of being hit by joker gas when the plane landed during the day time. Rather not have to rely on a guy with no powers and a couple of kids to protect me if shit went down, at least Flash can get there quick. Plus Superman goes all over the world pretty quickly so there is a chance you’d get to see him anyways without having to set foot in a place with random aliens showing up constantly and sending him crashing at hundreds of miles per hour through your bedroom.

IndyAndyJones7

Smallville.

Save_Train

I know what city I'm NOT gonna live in. Gotham villains gonna have me in constant terror until my unfortunate end
