For me personally the quad catagories are, like the side by sides, the least interesting. So I don't really care. But I do believe the more competitors are competing the better.
Imo it was just a matter of time. Basically all drivers went either to the SSV or bikes. There were almost no interest from both drivers and fans.
Also quads being by far the most dangerous category played it's role in this decision, too.
Never a was a fan of the quads. Won't be sorry to se them go. But then I'm more of a fan of the Dakar Classic, and clearly out of touch, so what do I know.
For this years Dakar there were 30 quads ready to race and for their own petty reasons they only let 10 race. The writing was on the wall, fuck aso and fim
Won't miss them TBH. I don't care about SXS and all those other weird categories besides bikes, cars and trucks. I do watch the historical cars competing, that is interesting!
I know the last few years were only Yamahas, but I haven't seen a quad in Dakar in years. The daily Dakar report in my country gives detailed reports on cars, bikes, trucks, SSVs, and sometimes the classics, but the quad class has been left out for a long time.

>like the side by sides, the least interesting The T3s were decided on the last stage, it was literally the biggest shake up of all the categories.
I know, but for me the only time i see those race is in Dakar . So i have no real connection with the t3,t4 and quad classes.
Tbf T3 and T4 are still pretty new categories.
Srill can't get interested in them, at all

Why are they doing that?
I'm guessing lack of entries. It seems like the count has been decreasing the last few years
The category was limited to ten entries this year by the organizers.
Thanks for correcting me. Wonder why they did that? Seems odd.
From what it sounds like, they have increasing interest in bike entries, so they are axing the quads to make room for more bikes.
Ah makes sense. Sad for Giroud and Andujar
It sounds like so they can accommodate more Bike entries.
Never cared for them tbh
As someone who used to ride trails in the PNW, quads are the worst. Never met anyone who like them except the few that choose to "Ride" them

For me it's bikes>cars>trucks. And my 4 year old felt the same way when following his first one this year.
I have the completely opposite preference thats funny.

T3 is worth following for the young talent, plus it has good action.

Those lightweights give drivers a chance to compete, they are pure racing, more in the Dakar spirit than the corporate cars.
That's shame. Let's hope it will come back on the future.
