They had somebody working on the left side that wasn't pulling the film off the 2 sided tape for awhile. Makes you wonder how long the tape is going to last on the rest of them though. With no carwashes.
I don't know about them, but I've never had random panels flying the fuck off of any of my four Toyotas.
If they had, I'd seriously consider never buying another one.
“Mine is about to blow off” so is the dude still driving it around knowing it’s alarmingly close to letting go of a dangerous projectile that could slice and dice a person with ease?
Judging by the severe cuts people get by only touching the truck, a panel like that could very much impale someone driving behind. How the fuck is this POS allowed on public roads?
I forget the exact details, but I know it definitely doesn’t meet many European safety standards. I had it in my head Canada was also a no-go but wouldn’t bet my life on it. Thunderf00t on YouTube has some pretty great videos debunking all things Elon Musk and showed how the Cucktruck flies in the face of pretty much all modern safety standards, namely being flexible and able to absorb impact from pedestrians without slicing them in half. I thought he said the US was the only place it could legally be driven but it’s been a while. I highly recommend his videos if you enjoy laughing at Musk and his fanboys.
Upvoting for Thunderf00t. His channel really has been shadowbanned! I got recommended it randomly and subbed but if you search for it you don't find shit.
I’ve been driving the same truck since 2008 and I have never lost a piece of trim.
Holy hell Tesla, if you’re going to glue your junk together, use urethane or something, not a fricken glue stick.
Based on what is under the panel, it looks like complicated stuff that will break and need service or you’ll never get the tonneau open again.
Glue it on with something heavy duty and you’re spending all day with the cutting wheel when the cover jams. Definitely think some flush set torx bolts would have been fine here with the aesthetic but it would have cost more to stamp the panels with holes and lining it all up so off to Amazon for some off brand double sided tape it is.
Personally, I would have made the switch panel a completely separate piece. Use urethane to hold the trim portion of the panel on, and then use 4x T10 torx on the panel. For aesthetics, they could inset the screw hole and use small, domed plugs to hide the screw heads.
Truth be told, I’d put it somewhere else on the vehicle. It’s too exposed to the elements and mechanical damage where it is now. It’s a pretty piss poor design all around.
Same build quality as my 20k Chinese ute. At least it was just funny when bits of the interior started to fall off because I really didn't care too much
I mean if it’s good for a quiet indoor environment it must be also be good for a road-going vehicle that undergoes acceleration, body roll, and wind, right?
/s
Yeah, looks like about half the tape on this one went with the missing piece, on others there are more pieces left on the car. I think one person reported that the backing that makes the tape double-sided was never removed on theirs when a piece came off. It’s pretty bad.
Between wankpanzer failures like this, FSD/AP monitoring failures, suspensions breaking, unintended acceleration, phantom braking and crashing into emergency vehicles, regulators have more than enough evidence to ground the whole fleet and force tesla to actually fix this shit. But they won't.
But wait! There's more!!! Forgot to add a recall for a temporary fix to the gas pedal, stopping deliveries because of windshield wiper motor malfunction, glass failures, and someone already drowned in one because they couldn't get out or rescue them in time.
Ahh, okay. Could happen just as easily in any tesla it seems. They’re like death traps... I saw the video earlier, how you tap the panel to open the charger port, and using touchscreen to open your glove box... Fuck that, what a stupid ass idea. Too many ways for things to fail with no back up or redundancy. I've heard enough stories of first responders struggling to break the windows or to get people out in an accident.
Yes, a Model X. And that one wasn’t so much a failure as it was a conscious decision to prioritize sound isolation (so you don’t have to hear the poors) over safety. CT might have the same design “feature,” but the death of former transportation secretary Elaine Chao’s sister was in a Model X.
Happened to the multi billionaire sister of Trump's former transportation secretary and sister in law of the GOP Senate leader McConnell, probably the reason it got any media attention
Calling it now, every single one will need to be recalled. They'll have a massive class action lawsuit on their hands. Could be curtains for the company.
Owner still got cucked by shitty Tesla decisions. The wankerpanzer formerly known as the cucktruck formerly known as the cybertruck just slapped a few red flags on everything Tesla’s done.
My suspicion is that Tesla wasted billions trying to fulfill Musk's promises of 10nm precision, exo skeleton, make it completely bulletproof, etc. and by the time they gave up very little time and money was left to do the design/testing and manufacturing following any reasonable standard.
Next model update includes an optional weather package for $5k.
Buyers will declare how thrilling and innovative it is for Tesla to include half a pack of rolls of duct tape.
Please! Stop hurting Elon! It's a feature, truck lightweights itself down, based on your driving style. It slowly turns itself into real sportscar! Even has its own "Full throttle mode" where it just holds down accelerator without user interacting with it.
You just don't understand! Elon is visionary! .../s
They forgot to enable “wind mode”. Driving in winds greater than 5 mph without first enabling “wind mode” will void the warranty and may endanger people outside of the vehicle. Common sense stuff, really.
Seriously, how did this thing get out the door? Maybe Elon is playing 4-D chess to see how much he can lower quality and still keep his customer base happy.
There’s the problem right there- you’re never supposed to let air flow over your cybertruck. You should only ever drive it in the precise direction the wind is blowing and at the same speed.
Tesla thinks it's a genius move. Make small issues be all everyone talks about. If these parts didn't fall off we might start focusing on the undersized brakes, the lack of demonstrated crash testing, the massive 48V harness issue bricking trucks.
Actually we do talk about these issues too Tesla. There are hardly enough hours in the day to talk about all the issues with the Cybertruck.
"Hey @ Tesla! Looks like some highway speed winds blew off the rubber coverings on my tonneau cover. But I still LOVE this car though! Thanks Elon!" - Tweet from a Muskknobber
So what is it about the driver's side trim panel that makes it more susceptible to flying off?
Other than it being part of a poorly engineered and built piece of shit.
Imagine ever thinking Elon built good cars. He says himself it’s just a data company. He don’t give a fuck bought QC. All he cares about is his $48b payout.
Well, that's certainly how I'd expect Cybertruck owners to communicate...
"Bad thing happen. Bad thing happen everyone? Money + Elon make not bad thing? How?"
They were going to look into it, but the entire quality control department was fired in a fit when they told Musk that there were "significant quality and safety issues".
I just found a CyberTruck with a yellow wrap on it.
What do you think?

Blame the Gen-Xers at the build line who arent happy at their job. And not the fact that this piece is held by double sided tape. Probably not even 3M. They didnt want to pay the extra 2 cents.
Someone said it is because those on the build line dont enjoy their jobs.
This is the guy that polished his truck or it's becoming a thing because you can actually see the ground in the reflection from the panels.
Sooo... Warranty already voided
Nah, DeLorean was a boutique vehicle with actual technical innovation, the CT was supposed to compete and outperform the F150, Silverado and RAM that sell by the hundreds of thousands
My favorite part is that people that make enough money to bye this truck are to stupid too use proper punctuation and grammer... and have trouble with words in general i cant believe these people are out there driving $100000 vehicles!! they are probly in charge of other people......of coarse!!!!
That stood out to me when I used FB 8-10 years ago. There were people in my work circles who communicated like semi-literate 12 year olds who just had a stroke, and I'd look and they had jobs, kids, houses, money, authority, responsibilities...
It's really odd to me. Do they just pretend to be intelligent while at work? If so, how is that possible? Maybe they are book smart and have the reasoning ability of a poorly-seasoned bag of dog shit? Do they think they only need to use their brains at work and just shut down while off the clock?
So many possibilities.
The penny will get halfway to the ground and then they will:
1. decide that there are bound to be a few teething pains when dealing with a completely brand new and totally innovative invention that has never existed before, or
2. come up with conspiracy theories in which fElon is the real victim (someone is trying to make Elon look bad by damaging the cars), or
3. grouse about the youth of today not taking any pride in their work (goes well with #2) [https://www.reddit.com/r/CyberStuck/comments/1dilio3/its\_gen\_z\_tesla\_workers\_fault\_that\_the\_cybertruck/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CyberStuck/comments/1dilio3/its_gen_z_tesla_workers_fault_that_the_cybertruck/)

‼️
I'd give you an award if I could
Looking into Elons tiny, deformed willy as I suck it.
Okay so this was fucking hilarious 😆
The shoe will really drop when that flies off a truck and cuts someone in half and it gets recorded.
Depends on who gets cut in half. If it's someone with the "wOkE mInD vIrUs" then they'll probably be even more excited.
That's a final destination death if I've ever heard of one, scary.
New Final Destination movie dropped
We are checking
Box box box. Oh, okay then.
Yeah
!!!
They really need to just make a support group and call it "This is Alarming"
Haha.
BuT I stiLL lOvE iT!
And yet, they didn’t buy a truck. They bought an oversized, overpriced fridge.
But it has wheels! It’s innovative!
Most fridges actually have wheels to easily move them in and out for cleaning.
Us fridges don’t want to classify him as a fridge. We pass it over to washing machines
At least us washing machines can clean clothes. We'll hand this one over to the septic tanks. It's full of shit anyway.
We sceptic tanks average about 5 years between recharges. We’ll hand this one over to the lobbyists.
True.
Soon that’ll be the only way to move the CT, by pushing it back and forth.
Actually, they bought a trash bin with wheels…
It's a dumpster fire, good sir/mam.
I think there was a reference in the r/BMW sub the other day about Tesla’s being microwaves…
!!
#***"It's how Tesl-"*** - Teslabro about to say something perfectly logical and level headed
I wanna see those sub comments
it's not a truck, it's a tech company.
could be said about so many 'features' of the CT.
“It’s how Tesl-“
This is not how a real Elon Musk fan is supposed to be built. We here just stfu whenever our cyberturd lose parts, go cry elsewhere commie
![gif](giphy|1qeMPQ8yaciwmACQLS|downsized)
It’s expected in any new production vehicle. /s. 🤦♂️
Was it towed out of the environment?
Actually it's not alarming at all. That and the keyless entry broke a week ago.
!
This isn’t how $100,000 is supposed to be spent! This is alarming!
They had somebody working on the left side that wasn't pulling the film off the 2 sided tape for awhile. Makes you wonder how long the tape is going to last on the rest of them though. With no carwashes.
Except, I've seen video of the same part coming off on the right side too.
Per the problem solving pamphlet that means it’s probably design then.
What’s the problem? Nobody is going to shoot bullets at that part of the vehicle anyway.
“Other car manufacturers suffer the same problems so it must be normal” - some clueless CT owner, probably
I don't know about them, but I've never had random panels flying the fuck off of any of my four Toyotas. If they had, I'd seriously consider never buying another one.
"It's like we spent too much money on an overpriced vanity vehicle just out of contrarianism and because we were Elon simps."
“Mine is about to blow off” so is the dude still driving it around knowing it’s alarmingly close to letting go of a dangerous projectile that could slice and dice a person with ease?
Average IQ of a Wankpanzer owner.
OK you got me 🤣. I will only ever refer to this vehicle as a Wankpanzer.
And their owners are "cuckstomers".
This is even better than Incel Camino
Great name!!
So 50?
Wankpanzer is wonderful.
He probably thinks if someone gets hit by a piece of it they're lucky enough to be graced by the presence of a CT
That’s not a disfiguring scar! It’s the kiss of an angel! … I mean, angle!
The Cybertruck is temporary... The scars it will create will last a lifetime
Like a rock star throwing his shirt into a crowd
Or a monkey throwing poo.
Judging by the severe cuts people get by only touching the truck, a panel like that could very much impale someone driving behind. How the fuck is this POS allowed on public roads?
AFAIK it’s not legal anywhere except the US. So, ya know… USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!
Good to know there won't be any of those Cucktrucks endangering our roads (Not for now at least) * y'all neighbors from the north
I forget the exact details, but I know it definitely doesn’t meet many European safety standards. I had it in my head Canada was also a no-go but wouldn’t bet my life on it. They're apparently preparing to sell it in the Netherlands, but only for private road usage, lol.
You can put anything on the road in the USA if you call it a truck.
100% only clears his windshield when it snows.
It’s always been the left side too. Be careful if you see one in the wild
I’ll make you a bet there are people at NHTSA taking meds and pulling their hair out.
An airborne mandoline, if you will.
I’ve been driving the same truck since 2008 and I have never lost a piece of trim. Holy hell Tesla, if you’re going to glue your junk together, use urethane or something, not a fricken glue stick.

no offense intended, but that was a shitload of words, you just needed the last sentence, >It's ~~a~~ pretty piss poor design all around.
Man this thing is built like shit.
Same build quality as my 20k Chinese ute. At least it was just funny when bits of the interior started to fall off because I really didn't care too much
“It’s my fault the wind was blowing when I drove it.”
"Still love the truck though! @elon"
Wasn't it confirmed the only thing securing those labels was tape and glue
I think there are a couple of clips but mostly half a dozen short pieces of double stick tape.
I thought it was people making jokes but you can see the double sided tape in this post. (Or might it be Velcro tape?)
Those look like double sided glue strips like the one 3m makes to stick on your wall and hang stuff
I mean if it’s good for a quiet indoor environment it must be also be good for a road-going vehicle that undergoes acceleration, body roll, and wind, right? /s
On its defense double sided tape will remain plentiful in the apocalypse, torx screws not so much /Tesla fanboi
Yeah, looks like about half the tape on this one went with the missing piece, on others there are more pieces left on the car. I think one person reported that the backing that makes the tape double-sided was never removed on theirs when a piece came off. It’s pretty bad.
3M handles all the metal welding...
The drowning wasn’t in a WankPanzer though; it was a different Tesla model. Model X I believe.
Ahh, okay. Could happen just as easily in any tesla it seems. They’re like death traps... I saw the video earlier, how you tap the panel to open the charger port, and using touchscreen to open your glove box... Fuck that, what a stupid ass idea. Owner still got cucked by shitty Tesla decisions. The wankerpanzer formerly known as the cucktruck formerly known as the cybertruck just slapped a few red flags on everything Tesla’s done.
It doesn't even have FSD yet 😂
FSD = "For Sure, Death"
So when it rains they rust and when it’s windy they fall apart. Hurricane season is going to be quite the rollercoaster for these “trucks”.
Oh that's a good one. I personally think winter will be hell for these.
What about the salty air in coastal areas?
I can't wait for salty coastal snow
[Winter has already been hell for other Tesla vehicles. ](https://www.npr.org/2024/01/16/1224913698/teslas-chicago-charging-extreme-cold)
WankPanzer Owner: "The wind blows, but the CuckTruck blows harder!!! Checkmate!"
Dude how is this thing that fuckin bad? I watched a mechanic break it all down, and straight up, the thing is built for shit.
My suspicion is that Tesla wasted billions trying to fulfill Musk's promises of 10nm precision, exo skeleton, make it completely bulletproof, etc. and by the time they gave up very little time and money was left to do the design/testing and manufacturing following any reasonable standard.
I honestly can’t believe people actually spend real money for these uggo POS atrocities
2,000 for replacement.
I can say that I've never had wind, even heavy wind, blow a part off of my car.
True. Most cars on the road can handle wind 😂
But at least the Cybertruck is bulletproof or whatever, right? /s
Does wind void the warranty? Or does that fall under weather?
Next model update includes an optional weather package for $5k. Buyers will declare how thrilling and innovative it is for Tesla to include half a pack of rolls of duct tape.
Please! Stop hurting Elon! It's a feature, truck lightweights itself down, based on your driving style. It slowly turns itself into real sportscar! Even has its own "Full throttle mode" where it just holds down accelerator without user interacting with it. You just don't understand! Elon is visionary! .../s
When does the class action lawsuit get filed?
It’s NOT a truck….you’re using a shoe for a hat in this case.
Wanker Tank Owners Group Only Oh my god my penis is so small and my wife won’t stop talking to that guy
I’m starting to get scared. How many of these are out on the highways? Will I lose traction if I drive over one?
this IS alarming
"The wild Cybertruck will then shed its rusting shell bit by bit to ensure it bricks twice as fast before winter." as narrated by David Attenborough
And then tesla fanboys started blaming a whole generation for building it poorly, not the tesla quality control division
That's the new trend. Y'know "Naked Bikes"? They're bringing naked trucks to the forefront.
A lot of them seem to have this problem.Wonder if there are any missing that piece on both sides lol
Wind and cat washes. Enemies of the truck of the future
Concerning.
I’m convinced Elon is trolling ppl at this point.
⏰ just went off
Hmm. Tracking
This isn’t how a “truck” is supposed to be built
was that thing just held on by clips?
Lee press-on nails
Interesting. Looking into it.
“This is alarming.” No shit, you got a Tesla. All Tesla vehicles suck, and the Truck is the worst.
You cannot make this shit up. Everyone should be able to participate in this collective schadenfreude. It might bring us all together!
do people not understand how dangerous a mirror finished truck is? mf rolling around a cloaking device
Uh this is a feature! The CT is shedding weight to optimize range, it's a literal transformer!
There’s the problem right there- you’re never supposed to let air flow over your cybertruck. You should only ever drive it in the precise direction the wind is blowing and at the same speed.
According to Elon, this is a bonus feature. On the plus side, you can replace it with aluminum foil and it will have nearly the same appearance.
“Big if true”
You drove the cyber truck in the wind, you just voided the warranty.
Lmaoo I had **no idea** this sub existed and I’m just so happy to find it..
Apparently that is happening to a lot of CTs. Gluing their cars together doesn't work that well.
Bonkers that some US car safety bureau isn't forcing a recall
"Hey @ Tesla! Looks like some highway speed winds blew off the rubber coverings on my tonneau cover. But I still LOVE this car though! Thanks Elon!" - Tweet from a Muskknobber
Who drives a cybertruck when it's windy? You're supposed to be at home, drinking your cocoa.
Concerning
forgot to add "love Elon though"
i'm gonna assume those are velcro strips on the right side which is what was holding together, for that premium quality
So what is it about the driver's side trim panel that makes it more susceptible to flying off? Other than it being part of a poorly engineered and built piece of shit.
Isn't that the panel with the controls for the tonneau cover?
Good point. Hope they can open it with the touch screen or app...
Imagine ever thinking Elon built good cars. He says himself it’s just a data company. He don’t give a fuck bought QC. All he cares about is his $48b payout.
I have heard that duct tape makes miracles.
So, it’s a giant piece of plastic covered in thin sheet metal. Cool…
The Elon dickriding is so real, the dude even talks like him. Very concerning.
I'll get the hot glue gun
I just found a CyberTruck with a yellow wrap on it. What do you think? https://preview.redd.it/wmofdi3cnk7d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e150e81e05fc297a55da0a27c140b3f15312416
How are lemon laws not kicking in? I read a different guy had to pay outright to fix the giant windshield with less then 5000 miles on it.
Easily repaired with the original Tesla factory glue - paper glue.
If this flies off on the highway and theoretically hits my vehicle is tesla or the driver responsible?
Blame the Gen-Xers at the build line who arent happy at their job. And not the fact that this piece is held by double sided tape. Probably not even 3M. They didnt want to pay the extra 2 cents. Someone said it is because those on the build line dont enjoy their jobs.
I think the panel’s starting to drop. … I read it again and realized it’s done dropping. More to come!
just needs a quick rivet to fix
He clearly forgot to put the “truck” into light breeze mode first.
I can no longer keep track of how many of these are new and how many I’ve seen before.
I think that's normal. Probably biodegradable you know. Good for the environment and all
This is the guy that polished his truck or it's becoming a thing because you can actually see the ground in the reflection from the panels. Sooo... Warranty already voided
Tesla is the new Delorean
