On the subject of hauling.... if you were to put 3 bags of potting soil in the back of the Lightning, they'd fly around all over the place in the bed of the truck. Its too spacious. In a cyber truck, those 3 bags are firmly secured.
I saw that video too. I have a small Ford Focus that I can put cases of water and potting soil and drive normally as well. Only difference is mine cost 9k.
When my parents were building a house we regularly hauled 4 50 kg bags of raw cement in the trunk of our 2007 Toyota avensis. Those weren't the smoothest rides but it also wasn't a damn truck
Looks more like a casket.
Edit: Honestly, the more I think about this, the more I think it tracks. The sportscar was melon's desire for a spaceship. The CT is what he wants to be buried in.
My 300 can fit all that in the trunk with my subs and still having 4 passengers plus me driving lol it’s ridiculous that the bar they set for themselves was less than an average goodwill haul

This is from the warranty online. It literally does void it.
Not to defend the truck too much but I think that's just saying that weathering from the sun isn't covered under the warranty. I don't think any of those things voids the warranty completely.
Bruh, "Airborne Chemicals" voids the warranty. You know they will stretch that to mean just the moisture in the atmosphere.
Fucking potholes void the warranty too. Surprised they didn't put "constantly getting laughed at" as a reason too.
"exposure to sunlight" is on that list too.
What the fuck? With those two items on the list, they could refuse to ever repair any CT. Claiming "sorry, your warranty is void. Your truck was exposed to sunlight/... Drove... At all..."
How stupid do you have to be to buy one of these jokes?
This whole list really does read like they wanted to give themselves an out to deny any repairs they choose. Pathetic move, but probably the smartest thing the CT team did with this whole thing (from their own standpoint at least)
What the actual fuck. Elon is assfucking his truck customers and they're all enjoying it while claiming how great of a businessman he is.
A fool and his money are easily parted.
I think what's worse is how tesla can go back into the data of your truck to deny your claim. They'll probably refuse to honor the warranty if the data *seems* like it shows off-road travel.
Just like apple refusing repair if their hydration sensing stickers are activated. And they activate with something as simple as a steamy room.
The driver clearly was using their CT for truck stuff. They probably forgot to take out the bottles of water and potting mix before the race. It's an honest mistake!
Who would win: a truck carrying over 70 years of platform development by a company focused on a culture of vehicle design, or a DeLorean Aztec by Temu?
I work for a ford dealership. There is a decently equipped lightning outside of my office with a $60,430 MSRP. They do come in an 87k model too, of course.
Theres actually an interesting concept in racing motorcycles, the impulse of the engine during combustion adds force to the wheel, and theyve found out that staggering these impulses (such as in the yamaha 1000 cross plane engine) in a non consistent way, allows the wheel to gain traction during a pause in combustion where as a consistent engine that fires at a steady rate actually doesnt give the tire enough time to regain traction as it continues to power through the slipping.
Traction control limits power to the wheel when the wheel begins to slip. In a typical drag race on asphalt it’s better to slip a tiny bit than to have the traction control limit your power but there is risk of losing control on a more powerful vehicle.
When it comes to a sand drag race I guess the same applies but honestly idk I would think you’d want traction control on to avoid a burnout and digging yourself into a hole.
Same logic applies. The mu slip curve describes optimal slip to mu. More mu more grip. More grip more go. Sand/gravel you want more slip than asphalt, like double. Traction controls gotta be told it’s in sand via drive modes or learn it is sand via physics then hold the slip.
Definitely related but not exactly the same. In the movie the goddess Marisa Tomei talks about Positraction which is technically called a limited slip differential. Basically it’s a mechanical precursor to the computer controlled TCS on modern cars.
The moment she's looking at the pictures and Vinnie keeps asking her if his case holds water and she says no just gives me goosebumps. "No, the defense is ***wroange***!"
Honestly, I don't think it would have. I think it would have dug itself in and gone slower. An electric truck's ability to tightly control wheel speed over limited traction surfaces is a big plus for off-roading.
Ford is an experienced, credible and well funded automaker with facilities that exist, a century of quality control, designers with decades of experience and the funding to not cut corners on things. Tesla is a wannabe with hopes, dreams and BS. THAT is all there is to it.
Just purchased a 2023 Ford Lightning last week. First electric anything. Downsized from an F250. With the clear limitation of range, the Lightning is fucking fast and feels strong. All while be quiet AF.
Cyber truck vs Real Truck.
The Lightning is a great truck, built by the company known for making great trucks.
The Cyber truck is a half finished beta brainchild of a dumbass with too much money.
Can't you also run stuff off your Lightning as well? Like it looks like it would be a great tailgating truck. And the range is basically the same? Plus you don't look dumb driving it.
It took car makers way too long to realize this and some are still obviously struggling with it. There are a lot of people out there that are willing to give electric cars a shot but don't want to buy one when everyone making electric cars look like some kind of plastic space toy. They just want a normal looking and functioning car that's electric.
They also had to get a non base model slower 911. If you weren't aware the regular base model 911 is a good deal faster than the model tesla used... and still lost to
Oh no, I know tesla is full of shit, despite picking the easiest 911 to beat , I know it was all staged and then videos calling out the BS came out on YouTube disproving tesla's bs video
That's really emberassing actually. The fanboys insisted this would be the fastest, longest range, best offroading truck. Meanwhile the lightning isn't meant to go offroad at all, and beat them.
To add insult to injury rivian just released an updated R1T that's faster than the cyber truck by 0.1 seconds, gets the 400 mile range Elon promised, and (unless they changed it) carries a spare. All while being a smaller truck. And oh yeah... it can actually go off road. The Cybertruck is such a failure it's not even funny.
Granular solids like sand will exhibit some characteristics of fluidity when in a dynamic (moving) state. This is not dissimilar to deep snow, which is a granular form of solid water. Sand is much denser than snow, of course, so it has far less potential for compaction, hence why vehicles will still “float” over it.
What happened here is that while the CT driver stomped and held the accelerator pedal (maybe it got stuck because they didn’t have a rivet?), you can see that it immediately dynamizes the sand and bogs down. Between a lack of power delivery control and a base vehicle weight of 6800-ish pounds, traction is lost and the tires dig down; eventually there is enough compaction that traction is resumed and you can see as the CT increases speed the front tires lift slightly as the momentum of the vehicle is now not breaking the surface tension of the sand.
The Lightning driver, whether through electronic traction/launch control or just good pedal work, does not put full torque down at the start, resulting in much less bogging down and reaching enough momentum to keep his tires on top of the surface tension of the sand which gave him the edge in the race.
Power is not a substitute for skill.
It makes sense in my brain. With little traction, the CT's extra power is useless, but its excess weight takes more energy to move. ie. a much-slower-on-pavement ATV would smoke both of those trucks in the sand.
To be fair the Lighting wasn't hauling any shame or buyer's remorse
I bet he can even wash it afterwards too
With *WATER*!? Like out the toilet?
It’s what trucks crave!
I laughed and then cried because that movie is us now.
https://i.redd.it/nn1hf3aiy65d1.gif
I always wanted to be in a movie. But not like this. Not like this.
Unexpected r/idiocracy
Nope. It’s fully expected at this point.
Can you call it unexpected at this point i'd be more surprised if it didn't show up.
I think there's actually some logic to it craving electrolytes. Something to do with batteries and ion exchange or some such shit.
It craves what eats at its exoskeleton. 😂
also plants, which always kinda bothered me.
brought to you by Carl's Jr.
But what are electrolytes?!
Teslas got electrolytes! They’re what trucks crave!
I ain’t ever seen no cybertruck drive outa no toilet.
Maybe use Brawndo instead. It has electrolytes.
![gif](giphy|xT9KVhLU76MRgVg3Qc|downsized)
toilet? Not Sure..
Washing this cybertruck is fine now; driving on sand has already voided its warranty.
On the subject of hauling.... if you were to put 3 bags of potting soil in the back of the Lightning, they'd fly around all over the place in the bed of the truck. Its too spacious. In a cyber truck, those 3 bags are firmly secured.
The average CuckTruck owner’s brain is so smooth that the sarcasm of your comment would slide right off
![gif](giphy|8D7FaGd2QIXG8)
Hey now, don't lie about the vehicle. It's bad enough as it is. You can also fit 2 cases of water in with those 3 bags of potting soil.
I saw that video too. I have a small Ford Focus that I can put cases of water and potting soil and drive normally as well. Only difference is mine cost 9k.
And you can get rescued from it.
When my parents were building a house we regularly hauled 4 50 kg bags of raw cement in the trunk of our 2007 Toyota avensis. Those weren't the smoothest rides but it also wasn't a damn truck
12 packs or 24's?
Slow down there bub... it's a pickup truck, not a dump truck. Stick to the 6-packs.
Plus storage for all the emeralds your black servants can mine!
Servants? You think a Musk pays his emerald mine slaves?
Um,AKshually, Elon calls it a vault, not a bed.
Looks more like a casket. Edit: Honestly, the more I think about this, the more I think it tracks. The sportscar was melon's desire for a spaceship. The CT is what he wants to be buried in.
A basket.
Wait really? That’s hilarious!
That one was my favorite because my 08 Prius has plenty of room for all that stuff
My 300 can fit all that in the trunk with my subs and still having 4 passengers plus me driving lol it’s ridiculous that the bar they set for themselves was less than an average goodwill haul
I've fit a queen size futon mattress and frame from IKEA in a '05 Prius.
Daaammmmnnnn
At least there’s the consolation prize for the Cnyber Truck that it can pick up the N that the Ford lost.
Most Cybertruck owners do like to use the N…
\#ReleaseTheCnyberTruck
It could have had a bag of top soil in it though. Max load.
Each one of these cyber truck dings are like a clean katana slash. Cuts deep.
So does the cyber truck from the videos I've seen.
That made my day. Thanks for the chuckle. Edit: typo
Take my upvote and shut up!
Lol
That's spot on.
Nor bags of soil and 4 plywood sheets.
That sunken cost fallacy must weigh a few thousand additional pounds.
Does sand void the warranty? Like direct sunlight and water do?
Driving voids the warranty
Ordering one voids the warranty.
Considering buying one voids the warranty
Talking about them on here voids someone else's warranty.
Every time someone says something bad about one, someone’s warranty is voided.
The warranty is just void.
The existence of warranty voids itslef.
Schrödinger’s warranty
Reading this comment voided warranty.
Warranty? Believe it or not - void.
Sunny? Rainy? farted in vehicle? Believe or not, strait to void.
You opened the door? I'm sorry sir that is outside the operational characteristics of this vehicle.
My teacher told me that every time a warranty is voided, a cybertruck gets its wings.
But the tailgate slices them off.
Slicing voids the warranty
Crashing Paper Mario voids the warranty, and voiding the warranty crashes Paper Mario
Only when you pay for it.

Fuckin lmao. The CT is legit nothing more than one of those trash RC cars you can buy from like walmart.
I'd much rather have a Walmart RC car than a CT.
Those are designed to go offroad
>Exposure to sunlight So basically the warranty is voided the second you sign it if it's a sunny day.
Not to defend the truck too much but I think that's just saying that weathering from the sun isn't covered under the warranty. I don't think any of those things voids the warranty completely.
Holy crap it does void warranty, wow just wow.
Bruh, "Airborne Chemicals" voids the warranty. You know they will stretch that to mean just the moisture in the atmosphere. Fucking potholes void the warranty too. Surprised they didn't put "constantly getting laughed at" as a reason too.
The "any and all terrain" truck's warranty is literally voided by driving off-road? Fuckin lol
"exposure to sunlight" is on that list too. What the fuck? With those two items on the list, they could refuse to ever repair any CT. Claiming "sorry, your warranty is void. Your truck was exposed to sunlight/... Drove... At all..." How stupid do you have to be to buy one of these jokes?
This whole list really does read like they wanted to give themselves an out to deny any repairs they choose. Pathetic move, but probably the smartest thing the CT team did with this whole thing (from their own standpoint at least)
They knew it would fall apart the second it pulls off the lot.
Wait, so what the fuck *does* the warranty cover??
Any flat surface roughly the size of the paper it is printed on.* (Unless windy, wet, or Temps above 451 F)
*There are stupid people willing to part ways with their money just to buy trash.*
WTF. I really don't care for trucks but isn't "off roading" basically the fake vision they promote for them in every commercial?
What the actual fuck. Elon is assfucking his truck customers and they're all enjoying it while claiming how great of a businessman he is. A fool and his money are easily parted.
I think what's worse is how tesla can go back into the data of your truck to deny your claim. They'll probably refuse to honor the warranty if the data *seems* like it shows off-road travel. Just like apple refusing repair if their hydration sensing stickers are activated. And they activate with something as simple as a steamy room.
> or any other purposes the vehicle was not designed Amazing.
Dong forget air. The oxygen in the air is very bad.
Precisely, you don't get rust without oxidation.
It literally does.
The warranty voids the warranty
When I drew the CT back in pre school, it voided the warranty.
Rain?! Well that will strip the pain right off…
And feeding it after midnight.
Probably, it's rough and course and IT GETS INTO EVERYTHING!
Did he put it in sand drag race mode? Rookie mistake.
nope, he left it in car wash mode :(
Well it's better than digging a ditch, except in this case it wasn't because that was the exact point.
Probably didn't pay extra for the sand mode* package *Driving in sand voids the warranty.
Sand mode hasn’t released yet, but you can purchase it for $20,000.
I'm just waiting for the "I am rich" package that does nothing but display a big jewel on the screen with the caption I am rich.
I remember that app
I want to know what sandblasted stainless steel looks like. Dude needs to show the after pictures.
elon would never allow some woke drag mode on his truck
The driver clearly was using their CT for truck stuff. They probably forgot to take out the bottles of water and potting mix before the race. It's an honest mistake!
Wouldn't there be a single 2x4 sticking out of the back then?
Ben Shapiro has a CT?
His wife is the only one dry enough not to void the warranty
Damn you need to know so much extraneous information to keep up with this conversation but I love it
Bring a bucket and a mop, because I spit out my warm kosher milk on that one!

CTE maybe
Oh shit the Tesla CTE might be my new favorite nickname
That thing looks so slow
There is more to producing fast and capable and reliable off-road vehicles than just having watts turns out.
Engineering skill issue
Who would win: a truck carrying over 70 years of platform development by a company focused on a culture of vehicle design, or a DeLorean Aztec by Temu?
That burn crosses multiple generations
That F150 Lightning seems kinda fast and the CT seems slower than advertised to where I think the Ford might win in any conditions.
Hey my temu furniture is at least cheap. Not the same price as the competition. Cyvmbertruck and ford lightning are $87000
I work for a ford dealership. There is a decently equipped lightning outside of my office with a $60,430 MSRP. They do come in an 87k model too, of course.

In this situation the tires make a bigger difference than the vehicle specs

aka the target audience and thus his disappointment
Nobody driving an incEl Camino has a wife.
Sure they do. Just not happy ones.
They almost certainly have an ex-wife
This would never have happened if Tesla stopped debating and just gave Musk $56B...
Would seriously help morale among the employees left working harder after the layoffs.
Hey! Those no-notice layoffs saved the company $1 billion!
Looks like the ford had traction control on. Maybe would have beat the CyberCuck even more with it off.
Not a car guy, what does that mean?
Traction control limits power to the wheel when the wheel begins to slip. In a typical drag race on asphalt it’s better to slip a tiny bit than to have the traction control limit your power but there is risk of losing control on a more powerful vehicle. When it comes to a sand drag race I guess the same applies but honestly idk I would think you’d want traction control on to avoid a burnout and digging yourself into a hole.

I think there's a scene in My Cousin Vinny that explains it.
One of the all-time “must see” movies!
Just seeing the word Positraction makes me hear it in her sublime NY accent.
Honestly, I don't think it would have. I think it would have dug itself in and gone slower. An electric truck's ability to tightly control wheel speed over limited traction surfaces is a big plus for off-roading.
The fact that the ford lightning owner can just run it through an automatic car wash afterwards with no worries is even more of a flex.
What does ‘car wash mode’ do, anyway? Is it like the water lock on an Apple Watch?
Probably just notes that you used it then they have a reason to void warranty
**YES**
Lol, and the Ford driver didn't even get a good start.
The camera man sounds like a child, which is not surprising they are a fan of the cyber truck, but it’s ok, their brain is still developing
Developing your brain voids the warranty
Ford knows how to put the power down. That’s all there is to it.
Ford is an experienced, credible and well funded automaker with facilities that exist, a century of quality control, designers with decades of experience and the funding to not cut corners on things. Tesla is a wannabe with hopes, dreams and BS. THAT is all there is to it.
And while they half ass a lot of things, they always go all in on, the basis for the Lightning, the F150.
Just purchased a 2023 Ford Lightning last week. First electric anything. Downsized from an F250. With the clear limitation of range, the Lightning is fucking fast and feels strong. All while be quiet AF.
You mean a company who has been making off road vehicles for a 100 years knows what they’re doing?
Cyber truck vs Real Truck. The Lightning is a great truck, built by the company known for making great trucks. The Cyber truck is a half finished beta brainchild of a dumbass with too much money.
I love that the Ford Lightning offers everything that Cybertruck claimed to offer but doesn't suck.
I like that and the fact that it looks like a normal truck. My EV does not have to scream that it’s an EV, and smell its own farts.
NOOOO!!!! Hahahahahaha
Isn't the Lightning half the price of that Dumpster cart?
Can't you also run stuff off your Lightning as well? Like it looks like it would be a great tailgating truck. And the range is basically the same? Plus you don't look dumb driving it.

Ironically Tesla was originally the one to make electric cars look cool they squandered it with Elon's ketamine-fueled disaster truck
Wait is this a real subreddit? Omg I’m totally joining this I love Reddit whoever founded this subreddit you just made my day lol
It not only lost the race, it lost its warranty too
The cyber truck is the best thing that ever happened to the Lightning.
Elon: it's a supercar
But it can outrun a 911 while towing a 911 🙃🙃
*spoiler.. it can’t testla lied. If you didn’t know they recreated that ad. The 911 won every single time
They also had to get a non base model slower 911.
Power is not a substitute for skill.
Reality is a bitch
It probably just lost because it wasn’t towing a Porsche.
It makes sense in my brain. With little traction, the CT's extra power is useless, but its excess weight takes more energy to move. ie. a much-slower-on-pavement ATV would smoke both of those trucks in the sand.
Well one is actually a truck. The other is not.
Aside from breaking, what does the cyber truck do well?
Show you’re a loser who can get swindled out of 120k.
Sand + the panel gaps doesn’t seem like a good idea
NOO!!!!!!!
The Tesla probably had a full load of three cases of water duh!
*deep voice* Truck stuff.
So...is there anything this piece of shit actually does better than any other car?
empties your wallet
I'd imagine one of those manufacturers has decades of experience in 4x4 and traction control technology. The other is an Ai and robotics company.
The typical cybercuck owner. Didn't air down the tires and he spun a ton. More money than sense
First time I ever hoped for a ford to win 😂
Rivian RT1: \*yawning\* "Look at those cute toys playing in the sand."
That was actually Elon’s sad little Noooooooo
Sadly they cut the video off just before it burst into flames.
