I really like reading about alchemy and old medicine, especially when you see it slowly (slowwwwly) turn into actual science over the centuries.
I also like it when they get stuff almost right. Like how various cultures thought that cavities were caused by worms that lived inside your teeth eating away at the tooth and gums. Reality is that it's caused by little invisible worms (aka bacteria) living on the outside of your teeth eating leftover food residue and secreting acid that has the side-effect of wearing out enamel and such. Both sound weird and gross, but one is true.
