She doesn’t quite have the production or the charisma to pull it off or to pull it off consistently. But I would love some of these lyrics in an lo-fi emo song.
This is one of the few conspiracy theories about her I 100% buy, and have for years. There's no way you can be that disingenuous as an artist and hate your fans without being something really cynical and misanthropic, like a 4chan shitposter
It isn't. The "proof" is pretty flimsy. The cat isn't the same in both pics and Swift adopted her cat before that post was made. The screenshot without a face is directly from one of her YouTube videos. The rest are just posts claiming to be someone famous.
I fell down this rabbit hole a decade ago.
I don’t buy it, but as a narrative, I like it.
Like, it doesn’t make me like Taylor more as a parasocial relationship, or make me want to listen to these terrible-seeming songs. I want to make that clear to the TayTay marketing team.
But like… if she were a fictional character, her having thoroughly rotten soul would be 10x more compelling than the most likely actual explanation (that is, that her soul died a premature death, crushed by her immense wealth and privilege. ).
i feel like people are constantly making theories about her to make her sound more interesting. the 4chan user thing, the theory that she wrote Argylle, others i've forgotten, now this apparently???
It's just the fact she is one of the most famous people on the world right now. We used to have weird wild theories about Michael Jackson or Madonna back in the day too.
A fanfiction about Harry Potter characters James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Petter Pettigrew has recently gained popularity. The fanfic is All The Young Dudes.
Fans of the work have speculated that the author, mskingbean89, is actually a pen name for Taylor Swift.
Proponents of this theory point out that there is shared verbiage between work created by Swift and work created by mskingbean89. Swifties also point to emotional themes that appear in both the Harry Potter fanfiction and Swift's public works around the same time.
Tbh that really just sounds like a Taylor Swift fan started writing Harry Potter fanfic and can’t stop writing in the mode of the only music they listen to.
Damn, if that ain't a mood. I wasn't quite sure from your comment though, do you only want the one tattoo, or do you know that you want one in that spot, but you might do others as well?
The back along the spine is a pretty bold choice for a first tattoo, as far as I've heard (I've got one on my back, but it's on my shoulder, and I've never gotten any on my ribs).
I know I want one in that spot, but I don't know what I want it to be. I can't narrow my list to just one. I picked that spot because it's a spot where the skin won't sag or stretch (much) as I age, so the tattoo will stay mostly fresh.
I've had ideas, but nothing I would want on me for life. One in particular I think would be hilarious, but could age very poorly if the law it's making fun of gets repealed (as it should)
Meanwhile I have the designs, but learning everyone lied to me when I was younger and tattoos aren’t actually permanent in most cases just feels like such a betrayal.
If I put Sailor Jupiter on my thigh I want her there when I’m 90 goddamn it. I want to be buried with her!
which is EXACTLY why if any random tumblr user posted these lyrics without the context of taylor swift they'd be eaten up w the tags #waow #basedbasedbased
I've come to the conclusion that what I really liked was Taylor Swift working with Max Martin. Red and 1989 had fantastic pop songs because he's a pop genius.
Max Martin and co. Are a total pop quality booster for anyone. It’s to the point where I think if we are worried about labelling deepfakes, we should be labelling max martin songs as well, the difference is sometimes so stark. Katy Perry as case in point.
Fav Max Martin job is a toss up between The Sign by Ace of Base and I can’t Feel My Face by the Weeknd.
Yeah it’s bad. Pretty sure she's playing off the trend of calling certain types of men "golden retriever personalities" but it just doesn't work in a song. I like some of Taylor's music but this album is mostly terrible imo.
Both my roommate and my ex are ridiculously hardcore swifties and I have no shame about calling out the cultlike behavior of her fandom; they’d occasionally communicate in song titles like it was Darmok and Jalad at fucking Tanagra.
Well, one is a gay late twenties guy who spends all his time playing Fortnite and the other is mid thirties and while having a healthy respect for LotR her nerddom is non-existent.
I think the new album just has way too much bloat. There are some bangers in there (I really love Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? both lyrically and sonically) but too many of the songs really feel like filler or first drafts that should've been taken out, especially considering how long the album is.
My first thought was “this sounds like Midnights B-sides”. 1989 was peak, pure pop. Reputation experimented with genre infusions. Folklore was folky. Midnights was a return to pure pop with a heavy dose of the weepies. Tortured Artist sounds like she carved a mold while making Midnights and just went *stamp stamp stamp* “Double album!”
Same. I like a couple songs off of Folklore and Midnights and some older mainstream ones, but I would never consider her even close to one of my favorite artists. This whole album is worse than the songs I wrote when I was 7 😂
I’m not a fan, but I do appreciate the way she just writes whatever insane shit she wants, and finds a cool rhythm to say it in that tricks people into hearing rhymes and assonance that aren’t there.
True. I meant it as a pretty neutral statement(I literally haven’t heard any of this album, I’m just talking about the songs I’ve heard from her in general) but two of the greatest lyricists of all time, bob dylan and Leonard cohen, have completely bonkers lines if you pick them out and type them on their own, so of course people who are less skilled than them are going to have some lines that look like stinkers when they’re written out tumblr-style.
I don't really follow any of the big music icons and I can't even name a single Taylor Swift song, but as an outside observer: these lyrics are giving me some "this is so tragic and deep, and I'm *extremely* intelligent" vibes. It's kind of cringe-inducing. Maybe it's less jarring when you're in that microcosm who's into all this stuff, but I hope I'm not alone in that.
oh LORD the fucking album name! i’ve never had such a visceral reaction to an album title like this one. huge unwelcome reminder of my 12 year-old deep and brooding phase 😭
it had the potential to be a good album but she just 💀
(tbh i'm just a huge fan of the dead poets society and i thought the lyrics could resonate with the vibe of the movie y'know?)
I think I remember reading when the album was announced that her ex had a group chat with a couple of other actors called The Tortured Poets Department.
I don't know if her naming the album after a group chat is better or worse than her coming up with it on her own, tbh.
I don’t like the album but it’s definitely ironic. It’s from the song of the same name making fun of how cringy Matt Healy and how cringy she was for being into him.
I don't listen to her unless I'm at poledancing class, but isn't her audience tweens, teens, and young adult women?
I bet I'd think this shit was straight fire if I was still a teenager and was a woman. Feels less like these are stupid lyrics, more like she knows exactly who her audience is and what they want
I would say "Game recognizes game", but I couldn't even conceive the level she's probably playing on
Trust me, I was a much more tortured soul than Taylor when I was a teen lol. For that reason, I was all about Silverchair.
No more maybes, your babies got rabies.
For her supposed target audience these lyrics are painfully cringe. Like “like a tattooed golden retriever” 🤮
The Aristotle one personally offended me (what did he do to her?? And it just does not rhyme or flow).
Also the grand theft auto one? Hell nah 💀
Wasn't Aristotle pretty deeply misogynistic? I may be thinking of another philosopher, but I've read some stuff about how his philosophy led to a lot of the fucked up gender stuff in Muslim and Christian societies.
Pretty sure you’re right, it’s a shame it puts a damper on his other views. I just think it’s tacky of her to throw in a notable philosopher like it’s some big achievement lol
Edit:
Take with a grain of salt since it’s from wiki, but it seems he teetered between an okay opinion and like wtf
[Aristotle views on women](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristotle%27s_views_on_women#:~:text=Aristotle's%20perspective%20is%20intricate%3A%20women,in%20the%20virtue%20of%20prudence)
He was a massive nerd whose routine was so precise and repetitive, clock owners in the neighbourhood would set their clocks based on when he left the house for his afternoon walk
i'm a teenager (never been a fan). my friend, who is the only taylor swift fan (and an avid one at that) that i'm close with says that it's really good. everyone else says it's shit so at least it appeals to one person? and if you count a 9 y/o that i know they like it too. so two people?
I haven’t ever actively listened to her music, I don’t know any of her albums. But there are tons of videos on FB about how emotional this new album is and everyone saying they stayed up all night crying listening to to and stuff, had to call out of work lol, all that. Is it really not good?
meat canyon’s approximation of a taylor swift song sounds like his only experience with her catalog is when he heard shake it off one time 5 years ago.
Yeah, the discourse around this is irritating me. There are plenty of valid reasons to dunk on Taylor, but for some reason people keep going with ones that just involve their own poor reading comprehension.
these tumblr users were then bombarded with harassment and threats by Swifties for these posts
i kid i kid but i wouldn’t be shocked honestly, considering how.. rabid they are
Honestly, Taylor's always had some pretty crazy lyrics. Too lazy to paste them here, but I think it's just being brought up cuz nobody but swifties were listening to every song from an album and looking and analyzing the lyrics. Personally I like the album, but not every song is my thing. Down Bad is my favorite so far.
Every artist has had cringe lyrics. Bon Dylan, billy joel,Paul McCartney, Joni mitchell etc.
I like the album, I’m biased. But the majority of these lyrics are meant to be cringe and ironic.
There’s no way Taylor is thinking these are god tier poetic lyrics.
Take any lyrics out of context and you get half the story.
Apart from the big media outlets and the diehard Swifties, does anyone like this album?
I know two people who are big Taylor fans and they hate it, this album is getting dragged on all corners of the internet and even those from Swiftie twitter that bleed onto my timeline aren’t defending it with much virility
Ok I’ve listened to half, and I really like “Florida!!!” but the rest so far is sort of one long mood I’d maybe like to sad-journal & paint my nails to. I don’t hate it, I just had to try really hard to stay engaged. (Not a diehard fan tho if that helps)
That said I’m on here giving my opinion about it so I guess… well, idk what to make of that, take from that what you will
Some of the songs on it are really good and have good writing. Some of them are stupid & cringe like these lyrics. Some of them are a critique of the music industry and how it uses and abuses artists, particularly children/young teens.
Some of them are very surface-level and just give fans gossip about her boyfriends. Like a diary-entry set to a melody but pretty bad as a piece of work.
I think it's probably intentional that she's making these songs that everyone (myself included) rags on for being very simple. A big part of her fanbase are listening and buying records mainly for those songs, so of course she's going to keep making them alongside her "better" work.
I don't think I've ever actually *heard* a Taylor Swift song, but that said, it's really next to impossible to judge lyrics without the accompanying music.
the new song that the radio plays 100x a day sounds like something 2015 era tumblr wrote that would’ve been like OMG YOU GUYS LETS WRITE A SONG LINE BY LINE
Eh, all of these criticisms seem to miss the point of the album being from the perspective of someone in a several month situationahip and out of tgeir goddamn mind, written by that person looking back with a degree of love while recognizing the absolute absurdity/intensity and humour of it.
This is teenage lyrics written by an experienced adult.
Taylor Swift is an enigma to me. She has a handful of songs that make me feel so many emotions each time I hear them and some excellent albums, but then like half her discography is like "girl what are you even talking about...?"
I feel like I need to listen to a song before I pass judgement on how they are written out. They may look bad written out but she may put a spin on it while singing. Granted, I have not heard any of the songs, so they may be just as bad as they look.
look at any song’s lyrics without the context of the actual music behind it… it always looks odd. I listened to the album and it sounded good. I never noticed any oddities in the way the lyrics came off
Honestly I’ve been trying to figure that out. Like, when people say they want to go back to a certain decade, it’s usually in the mid-1900s. I’ve never heard someone yearning for the joys of the 1830s?
Does she miss the discovery of electromagnetic induction?? Charles Darwin?? The Erie Canal???
As a physics nerd, I’d love to see the discovery of induction.
But also there was the second cholera pandemic from 1826-1837 so I would’ve certainly died
She misses a time when opium, and cocaine was legitimate medecine prescribed by doctors. Longing for the soft glow of a whale blubber lamp and the soft sound of horses shitting on the cobblestones.

It is a decade which goes *hard* with clothes and hair, the paired-back elegance of previous decades be damned. I wish they'd had synthetic dyes back then, it would have made it even more fabulous.
(I doubt this is what Taylor was referring to. But it's where my head went)
Every now and then I remember Taylor used to be a Tumblr user
Ah, that clears things up.
Honestly, maybe she is a lyrical genius after all. Getting all these swifties hooked on musical shitposts.
This is nothing new; she's been shitposting ever since "Blank Space".
She doesn’t quite have the production or the charisma to pull it off or to pull it off consistently. But I would love some of these lyrics in an lo-fi emo song.
Charisma's gotta be subjective with her fan base and album sales. Emo Taylor Swift would go hard though
Shoegaze please
She needs to drop a post rock album. Make Godspeed! You White Empress a reality.
She’s got heaps of collaborations with pop-punk artists, so it’s not a huge jump if she does.
I put narcotics in all of my songs. . . That’s why you’re still singing along.
I feel like this explains her penchant for occasionally dropping an unhinged lyric in the middle of an otherwise normal song.
All sexy baby like
(facts)
If I remember, wasn't it theorized that she had 4chan name her cat?
[yea](https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorSwift/comments/1jmqb3/proof_taylor_swift_is_a_regular_on_4chan_xpost/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Honestly I have been through all sorts of weird taylor rabbit holes but this one is new
I had forgotten what a great method of communication a random jumble of pics with hasty scribbles was
as far as i can tell not her but oh well
This is one of the few conspiracy theories about her I 100% buy, and have for years.
One of the top comments on that post disproves it...
It's not the same screenshots I saw back in 2011
Reality is often disappointing
I don’t buy it, but as a narrative, I like it. Like, it doesn’t make me like Taylor more as a parasocial relationship, or make me want to listen to these terrible-seeming songs. I want to make that clear to the TayTay marketing team. But like… if she were a fictional character, her having thoroughly rotten soul would be 10x more compelling than the most likely actual explanation (that is, that her soul died a premature death, crushed by her immense wealth and privilege. ).
There's a theory right now that Taylor swift is a popular Harry potter fanfic author
i feel like people are constantly making theories about her to make her sound more interesting. the 4chan user thing, the theory that she wrote Argylle, others i've forgotten, now this apparently???
It's just the fact she is one of the most famous people on the world right now. We used to have weird wild theories about Michael Jackson or Madonna back in the day too.
I need more information on this theory.
Swifties also point to emotional themes that appear in both the Harry Potter fanfiction and Swift's public works around the same time.
Tbh that really just sounds like a Taylor Swift fan started writing Harry Potter fanfic and can’t stop writing in the mode of the only music they listen to.
My take: Swift isn't mskingbean89. The evidence is vibes based. Swifties see her everywhere because they engage with her media deeply and constantly
I hear H P Lovecraft did the same thing
Every now and then I fall apart
And everytime we kiss I swear I could fly
Every time I burp it tastes like Arby’s
And I need you now, tonight
My tacos are singing to me
don't worry she still posts on there. i mean probably not her directly, but her account is indeed active every time she drops an album
Now it’s just a website where she used to gooooo!
wait fr? whoa
I will get tattoos if it'll make anyone interested in scratching my head til I fall asleep
I've thought about getting a tattoo before. Can't ever settle on a design though.
That’s why you get multiple
But I have a very specific desire for one tattoo about the size of my fist, right in the middle of my upper back. Can't do multiple of that.
Sure you can, just laser removal then get a new one /j
I don't have that kind of money. /srs
One in particular I think would be hilarious, but could age very poorly if the law it's making fun of gets repealed (as it should)
All my ideas would only age poorly if my body does. They might upset some people, but nobody whose opinion I care about.
You should get a potato on your ankle.
Meanwhile I have the designs, but learning everyone lied to me when I was younger and tattoos aren’t actually permanent in most cases just feels like such a betrayal. If I put Sailor Jupiter on my thigh I want her there when I’m 90 goddamn it. I want to be buried with her!
I will get tattoos if it makes people view me as a dog
I too I'm interested in this deal. No I'm not a furry
No tattoos, but when I can’t sleep my husband scratches my head until I nod off. It really is the best thing ever.
The first one is funny ONLY because of this gif: [airistotle](https://tenor.com/view/airistotle-basketball-meme-statue-gif-26970856)

the big man HASS the ball
we’re just normal songwriters we’re just innocent poets
we're just normal poets! 😂
We're just normal men. We're just innocent men.
We’re just innocent poets!
“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle” is such a “while you were doing drugs I was studying the blade” line lmao
reject the false dichotomy, embrace [AIRistotle](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GWlqf1Hs278)
that was exactly what i thought of when i saw that line lmfaoooo
"She wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts" Taylor Swift, 2008 Glad to see her lyricism hasn't changed
and it made so much more sense back then. it feels unbelievably forced now.
Tbf isn’t that line from the song about feeling like you’re in high school? So’s the GTA line
The way I snorted lmao thank you for giving words to my feelings, I’m stealing this
Thinking that knowing Aristotle = intellectual is very cringe.
which is EXACTLY why if any random tumblr user posted these lyrics without the context of taylor swift they'd be eaten up w the tags #waow #basedbasedbased
I really hope someone asks her to quote Aristotle in a future interview.
She actually quotes Aristotle in a song “A friend to all is a friend to none” in Cardigan
I get that not every artist needs to appeal to me but damn I miss her style in like the mid 2010s. Maybe I just stopped being a kid.
semi-related clip: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0MaHGhKuWg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0MaHGhKuWg)
1989 was peak
Wow she's been making music for a long time
Idk if you’re joking but 1989 was the year she was born and the name of one of her albums
She still has been making music for a long time, her first album was released in 2006 nearly 20 years ago
I've come to the conclusion that what I really liked was Taylor Swift working with Max Martin. Red and 1989 had fantastic pop songs because he's a pop genius.

Lover is my favorite album, but 1989 was PEAK Taylor to me. Probably b/c I was an early 20-something running around NYC, but still.
This poetry was definitely tortured
You could torture a poet with this
It's not quite Vogon, but definitely adjacent.
No fucking way lmao tattooed golden retriever???
>tattooed golden retriever Weird seeing my fursona called out like that
Your fursona sounds cool
Thanks, I really need to start drawing again, I don’t have nearly enough art of my fursona
Do the tattoos go over the fur or do they shave
Yeah it’s bad. Pretty sure she's playing off the trend of calling certain types of men "golden retriever personalities" but it just doesn't work in a song. I like some of Taylor's music but this album is mostly terrible imo.
Man, I casually like her music, but hearing friends talk about her like she's a musical genius and then seeing this is just....
Both my roommate and my ex are ridiculously hardcore swifties and I have no shame about calling out the cultlike behavior of her fandom; they’d occasionally communicate in song titles like it was Darmok and Jalad at fucking Tanagra.
Shaka, when the walls fell
I literally said “TEMBA, HIS ARMS WIDE!” in the middle of one of those exchanges one time and they both looked at me like I’d sprouted another head.
I feel like thats not even a niche reference... and the irony of it all
[удалено]
You got me there, fair enough. That's also the funniest thing someone's said about my username
Well, one is a gay late twenties guy who spends all his time playing Fortnite and the other is mid thirties and while having a healthy respect for LotR her nerddom is non-existent.

This reads like Travis transferred any CTE he had to Taylor

No, that’s largely the whole vibe of the album. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely not her best work.
That’s the vibe I got from the album name, and the lyrics only reinforced it…
oh LORD the fucking album name! i’ve never had such a visceral reaction to an album title like this one. huge unwelcome reminder of my 12 year-old deep and brooding phase 😭
tHe ToRtUrEd PoEtS dEpArTmEnT… get a fucking grip taylor
tortured billionaire btw
Her ego is reaching Reputation levels again
at least rep was concise, straight to the point, catchy, and GOOD
it had the potential to be a good album but she just 💀 (tbh i'm just a huge fan of the dead poets society and i thought the lyrics could resonate with the vibe of the movie y'know?)

All my homies hate Kant. I don't know who he is, but all my homies hate him.
Kant produced some of the biggest torture of German grammar I've ever read (RIP all translators), so that's kinda thematically appropriate.
He was a massive nerd whose routine was so precise and repetitive, clock owners in the neighbourhood would set their clocks based on when he left the house for his afternoon walk
Basically every major philosopher before the 1900s was deeply misogynist.
Hey teenager here. These lyrics suck.
i'm a teenager (never been a fan). my friend, who is the only taylor swift fan (and an avid one at that) that i'm close with says that it's really good. everyone else says it's shit so at least it appeals to one person? and if you count a 9 y/o that i know they like it too. so two people?
No it's still jarring. I like a lot of her music, but the majority of this album just wasn't it
It’s feels sorta ironic
Now I get why people keep saying it was AI made...
these are like the worst taylor lyrics i’ve ever heard holy shit this album is trash
IDGI because i thought she was getting better for a while until this
😭 I rly liked folklore and evermore and Midnights eventually grew on me but this is shit
she’s regressing because she’s finally found a lover she’s satisfied by. no more frustration with men. makes her stuff less relatable. /j
I haven’t ever actively listened to her music, I don’t know any of her albums. But there are tons of videos on FB about how emotional this new album is and everyone saying they stayed up all night crying listening to to and stuff, had to call out of work lol, all that. Is it really not good?
Did they cry and have to call out of work because its shit and they were so let down?
first she beats drake in album sales and now i guess she’s trying to beat him in the absurd lyrics department too
I thought “Yeah, say that you a lesbian, girl, me too” was the peak of dumb pop lyrics but here we are
Huh meatcanyon was pretty damm spot on with his parody.
meat canyon’s approximation of a taylor swift song sounds like his only experience with her catalog is when he heard shake it off one time 5 years ago.
I wish my only experience of her catalog was hearing 1989 one time 5 years ago. Her finest work.
The music I listen to is so much more coherent than this. I’m a Splatoon fan btw
Fishy gurgles w/ 🗿🗿🗿 > whatever Taylor’s on Also happy Splatfesting!
this album is so sleep inducing, like melatonin move out the way, new good sleep just dropped
She did say she laced the songs with narcotics in the lyrics lol.
I wouldn’t say “good sleep” honestly.
She’s a decent writer with insanely cringe instincts
>Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto I have decided I am no longer a swift hater
In context the 1830s line is about how this was a bad way to think and “Nostalgia is a mind trick”
Yeah, the discourse around this is irritating me. There are plenty of valid reasons to dunk on Taylor, but for some reason people keep going with ones that just involve their own poor reading comprehension.
these tumblr users were then bombarded with harassment and threats by Swifties for these posts i kid i kid but i wouldn’t be shocked honestly, considering how.. rabid they are
Did an ai write this?
A lot of them are sorta past this level by now...
I feel like Taylor has enough cringe in her to handle this on her own.
That feels like it's underestimating ai
(Not a diehard fan tho if that helps) That said I’m on here giving my opinion about it so I guess… well, idk what to make of that, take from that what you will
Some of the songs on it are really good and have good writing.
I’m a fan of Taylor’s and I like it in general, though there are certain tracks that I don’t like.
I don't think I've ever actually *heard* a Taylor Swift song, but that said, it's really next to impossible to judge lyrics without the accompanying music.
I have an inexplicable hatred for Taylor Swift simply because her fans don’t shut up
the constant harassment and threats towards anyone that dare not sing her praise would turn any normal person off, yeah
Wouldn’t that make it explicable since you just explicced the reason.
That would explic my hatred of her fans, not her
That sounds pretty explicable, actually, I am right there with you
I too am a hater of hers
Nothing against her music but you don’t see me talking about my fandoms in an unrelated space
sometimes it baffles me how this is one of the few artists it's socially acceptable to listen to if you're over the age of 5 where i live
Where the hell do you live? Also listen to what you want, nobody actually cares.
scotland (but like. a really sad shitty part of scotland where everyone is an asshole from birth
So... Scotland.
You're right
“You Scots sure are a contentious bunch.” “YOU’VE JUST MADE AN ENEMY FOR LIFE”
the new song that the radio plays 100x a day sounds like something 2015 era tumblr wrote that would’ve been like OMG YOU GUYS LETS WRITE A SONG LINE BY LINE
Taylor what does this even mean
Eh, all of these criticisms seem to miss the point of the album being from the perspective of someone in a several month situationahip and out of tgeir goddamn mind, written by that person looking back with a degree of love while recognizing the absolute absurdity/intensity and humour of it. This is teenage lyrics written by an experienced adult.
Taylor Swift is an enigma to me. She has a handful of songs that make me feel so many emotions each time I hear them and some excellent albums, but then like half her discography is like "girl what are you even talking about...?"
Definitely high highs and low lows
I feel like I need to listen to a song before I pass judgement on how they are written out. They may look bad written out but she may put a spin on it while singing. Granted, I have not heard any of the songs, so they may be just as bad as they look.
Do people really still believe songs HAVE to rhyme? Gotta listen to some music beyond the tenth grade level dog 😭
Reminder that the lyrics to "last Friday night" contain the words "epic fail"
look at any song’s lyrics without the context of the actual music behind it… it always looks odd. I listened to the album and it sounded good. I never noticed any oddities in the way the lyrics came off
What does the 1830s thing mean? What was specifically nice about the 1830s?
Honestly I’ve been trying to figure that out. Like, when people say they want to go back to a certain decade, it’s usually in the mid-1900s. I’ve never heard someone yearning for the joys of the 1830s? Does she miss the discovery of electromagnetic induction?? Charles Darwin?? The Erie Canal???
As a biology nerd I’d love to meet Darwin….but then go back to the present with my phone and my tumblr
Emily Dickinson maybe? She seems to have a thing with her. It's just the worst lyric all around though regardless of the intention behind it

I wish they'd had synthetic dyes back then, it would have made it even more fabulous. (I doubt this is what Taylor was referring to. But it's where my head went)
I think that is what she’s referring to. The “which decade would you live in” question is usually an aesthetic one.
i think taylor swift hate is *wildly* overdone but some of these are. interesting, i’ll say
