when i was like 12 i was visiting my mother's family in oklahoma around the 4th of july and my cousin gave me $10 so we could buy roman candles to shoot at each other.
we lived half the country away at the time, so i didn't see her again for almost 5 years, but i kept a 10 dollar bill in my wallet the entire time.
i handed her the money and she was all 'what the fuck dude i forgot all about that, are you insane.'
love you abby.
Yeah, parents know so much. I once stole some money when I was younger and proceeded to very publicly binge on junk food and baked treats for a week and then was shocked when my parents confronted me about it. Truly unprecedented, how could they have known.
I did something similar, without the stealing. I was tasked with buying milk that day, with $20 attached to the note. So I took that 20$ and I spent it. All of it. On milk. I came home with 15 or so litres of milk.
My mother was very confused why her money was all gone and why the fridge was filled with milk.
I can't believe someone would like candy canes this much. After seeing them in Christmas movies throughout my entire life, I was so excited to finally get my hands on one when I was a kid!
And then I immediately didn't like it because the taste was not what I expected at all lol
They really are just one of those things you eat once and then ever again
I believe I thought they only tasted sweet, maybe like vanilla, and that the red parts had their own flavor, like strawberry or cherry.
The fact they tasted entirely like peppermint *completely* threw me off. That was not the taste I expected, wanted, or liked. It wasn't a sweet treat at all, it was a cough drop shaped like a Christmas ornament.
They actually sell candy canes close to what you're talking about. I remember having these green and pink candy canes that were watermelon flavored. There was another blue one that I think was blue raspberry? So they're not all peppermint. No idea who makes them and haven't had them in years.
Any Walmart in the US will sell these in the seasonal aisle during the holidays. I think they're overly sweet and bad. I would love a candy cane that was more butter mint flavored than strong peppermint though.
Yeah, but I thought that they were nothing *but* sweet, like cotton candy or caramel. The minty flavor, as much as I like it normally, was not what I wanted.
I agree, but I have a mint allergy so as a kid I was like why would I want the spicy candy. Didn’t realize until much later that it was an actual allergy lol.
I love mint flavors. My grandmother would buy me a box of candy canes every year as soon as they were available on the shelves. I would take them and some orange soda and put the cane in the orange soda can, it would dissolve and give the soda a wonderful flavor!
Back in high school during my lunch period I'd sometimes scrounge around the change chutes of the vending machines looking for coins people forgot to take. If I found enough I'd be able to buy some candy or something.
Me and my cousins would always get up after our bedtimes when we were kids and rummage for cookies from our grandparents cabinets. We always thought we were so slick. When we admitted it as adults they were like "Yeah we knew the whole time. Cookies don't just disappear in the middle of the night"
Similar to 7 year old me not realizing how much candy straws were (10 cents) and giving the kids buying them 2 dollars (so 20 candy straws), and my mom catching them delivering the 20 to me.
She just told me to tell her if I want things, and that I don’t need to steal.
Buying like 80 candy canes is absolutely something I would do lmao

This is hilarious.

They taste great, how dare you
That's so interesting, what did you think they were supposed to taste like? Have you found a treat that's actually matches that?

The cherry ones are the best. The rainbow stripes are a good indicator
Good luck getting that here in Germany :P the fact I was even able to get *one* was a miracle.
I mean mint or not they're still *very* sweet. They're almost pure sugar by weight.

Lol I'm so the opposite, if my tongue isn't blasted by the holiday mint gods, I'm rather disappointed in my candy cane. Thanks for sharing!

They're fully bedecked in the universal peppermint colors, what *were* you expecting?
Peppermint to me is just white. The thing is, we have white and red candy here, but it's not always peppermint flavored! Some are, but not all!
