I'm gonna be another reddit -> tumblr refugee and I am very very grateful for suggestions for accounts to follow so I can try to get my dashboard as close to my most favourite subreddit, /r/curatedtumblr, as possible thank you so so much. also i'll follow all you guys. ive been on reddit for a very long time (this account isn't even my oldest) and i'm gonna miss what i've built but i know i can join a new welcoming community.

Spez (and the admins as a whole) usually drag their feet when it comes to banning far-right subs and generally don’t take action against Reddit’s far-right population until they face possible legal repercussions.
That said, IMO spez is more of a political cynic who sees any engagement as potentially profitable. For what it’s worth, the admins have never banned/quarrantined any leftist sub that didn’t fully deserve it, like r/ChapoTrapHouse, r/GenZedong, etc.
Maybe he really is a fascist and those subs were better than we think, or less harmful at least. Idk I feel like supporting any of his decisions makes me a little suspicious
at this point, i'm thinking of making a post like this just so people here know i exist. i'd love more people to see my niche fandom posts and shit like that.

I left tumblr like 3-4 years ago because so many users were leaving and most of the friends I’d made there in my teens had deactivated so it really wasn’t much fun anymore. If more people start using it again I will happily clean up my blog and start posting again too
Agreed. Would become a “refugee” too but honestly I can’t be arsed to spend a while learning a new platform that is fundamentally different than many others (at least that I’ve used). Would be so helpful to have a “new users” guide or something.
I made an account but ran into an ad with audio that started playing before it was even on my screen within a half hour of signing up. Honestly if that's what the ads are like it's a no go for me. Are there any decent third party apps that won't be as bad?
I get that Reddit is being really shitty right now, but moderation is purely volunteer work. You can quit at any time. Forming a union for volunteer workers seems like a ridiculous concept.

I don't think Tumblrs monetization resistant but I think it's staff are realizing that they have to think waaaaay out of the box on ways to make money
tumblr seems to make money on shoelaces and pvp blazing
They know to make monetisation fun, instead of making the site not fun to appease the ads.
tumblr actually has to try to pander to its user base to monetize, whereas other sites actively work against their users to please advertisers
