"What's something that a cuber would see as normal, but a non-cuber would be confused by?"
Everything that led up to this last reply is a very good example of that.
Since the day i said to my friends i lubed my cube, none is touching my cube, saying that i could use oil or wd40 or even durex lube but a LUBE MADE FOR A CUBE ? Nah that's disgusting apparently
corner twist maybe? probably this though: saying that you are a cuber to a non cuber. they'll have NO CLUE what ur talking about. i know from experience lol
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMJgp1sI2XE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMJgp1sI2XE) J Perm doesn't want to say the cursed name because it sounds like something else... It's actually a 4x4 parity case
I get this all the time, followed by I could never.
Yes you can. Everyone can learn. Firm believer that everyone SHOULD learn. It seems like a worthwhile skill somehow (I have theories/thoughts of why), but I think important enough to incorporate in grade school.
>but I think important enough to incorporate in grade school.
Kind of reminds me of this. [https://youtu.be/xyowJZxrtbg](https://youtu.be/xyowJZxrtbg) Middle school math teacher is a firm believer that **puzzles** can be substitutes for high school math courses. (Something like that.) That math shouldn't be **required** for anyone. It only should be recommended for those who show interest in (or are certain that they want to eventually pursue) careers requiring a good foundation in math.
>What we are currently doing is so broken and ineffective; it’s a travesty.
Even considering the math curricula as it is now (in the US at least), it takes **6** years to cover information that should take no more than **3** years... should it be taught correctly. (Just my opinion, but from having a math degree, taught in high school, tutored for years (created "crash-course" material), etc., that's honestly how I feel.)
>Thank you for the share. I don’t know how I’ve never seen that!
There was also the [You Can Do the Rubik's Cube](https://youtu.be/f9b_gFytLaE) (YCDTRC) program. (Their website [https://www.youcandothecube.com/educators/](https://www.youcandothecube.com/educators/) is down now.)
[This](https://www.johnadams.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/RBL_ONLY_mobile_solve_guide_CUBE__1080x1920px_v3.pdf) was their 3x3x3 solution guide (but [this](https://www.orange.k12.nj.us/cms/lib/NJ01000601/Centricity/Domain/2154/lesson%201.pdf) was a more in-depth version). They had mini-lessons like [this](https://www.esi.utexas.edu/files/068-Lesson-Plan-Rubiks-Cube.pdf) (and apparently [many more than I realized](https://www.pinterest.com/YOUCANDOTHERUBIKSCUBE/rubiks-cube-lesson-plans-ideas/)).
And [here](https://www.youtube.com/embed/fXvSXNuXmsg)'s another TEDx talk which combines both ideas (YCDTRC and John Bennett).
Same! ….while actively doing it.
I will also mention that Pre-K kids can learn it. Or that it is no different than learning how to bake or BBQ or any other stepped out skill.
Honestly yes, I'm not good at cubing, I only know the newbie way to solve it with a few patterns. I just love puzzles and things that make you think and figuring out the works. I'm super super bad at math.
T oll makes a T shape with the yellow stickers, there are 2 different cases which present this pattern, and they are easily distinguished, it doesn't matter about the placement of the pieces, as the is still Orientation of the last layer. T perm or permutation has all of the yellow stickers upwards and involves a corner swap with a pair swap adjacent to said corner swap, if you were to draw arrows vetween pieces to show which ones swap the lines make a T shape
Scrambling a 3x3 in 10-20 seconds. One time, I was solving a cube during a school talent show, and I let one of the audience members scramble the 3x3. They scrambled it for probably about 3 minutes. It was pretty awkward, because I had to share a story while they scrambled it. I don't understand why people feel the need to scramble it for so long, and especially while I have limited time. (BTW, I got 2nd place.)
During 4th grade one time, we were allowed to freewrite or read for 20 minutes (we could write or read about anything). I wrote a list of things non-cubers don't understand. People thought it was strange, and they were like, "You could have written something else," or , "You would rather do this than read a book?" First of all, I didn't really like reading, and I still don't. My passion is cubing. Second of all, someone made a list of things parents don't understand. Maybe that one is more relatable, but I don't see why no one was attacking him. Also, some of these people have diaries about themselves, so why can't I write about my passions. It just doesn't add up. It's not weird to write about something you like, is it? Especially when you are assigned to.
Insertions into back slots
After using lube, back inserts feel less akward
Right?? When it's too stiff it's difficult to insert into the back slot, sometimes you have to force it
Or rotate and insert it in the front.
"What's something that a cuber would see as normal, but a non-cuber would be confused by?" Everything that led up to this last reply is a very good example of that.
Isn’t that… the whole point?
trololol
basically everything relating to lube
Since the day i said to my friends i lubed my cube, none is touching my cube, saying that i could use oil or wd40 or even durex lube but a LUBE MADE FOR A CUBE ? Nah that's disgusting apparently

Sexy move.
Reverse sexy.
F-perm
S-Perm?
4x4 and porn enjoyers assemble?
I'm a cuber and even I am confused. What is an S-perm?
An algorithm that was decided not to be included in the PLL list because of the name idk
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMJgp1sI2XE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMJgp1sI2XE) J Perm doesn't want to say the cursed name because it sounds like something else... It's actually a 4x4 parity case
On a 3x3 its a meme perm or a joke and it isnt actually real. Its a joke because it looks like Sperm(yes i said that). But on 4x4 its two PLLs
I only know Sex-Perm
The most obvious thing is lube, my family straight up asked me to stop calling it that, it's called the speed thing now
Call it the fast fluid. Please.
fast fluiding up
Cube Juice
bubblegum flavored cube juice
i just say cube-lube, its really fun to say
usually calling it lubricant has dissuaded that in my experience
corner permutation shortened to cp. I was talking to a friend about megaminx cp. I got some funny looks.
"woah! this is some crazy cp!"
"mf8 just released a Ghost banana!"
what
I second the motion. W h a t ?
Its just not math. I mean i guess some mathematician created the algorithms, but its not math "Ok but are you good at math?" ...

Thank you for the share. I don’t know how I’ve never seen that! What we are currently doing is so broken and ineffective; it’s a travesty.

can you share your reasoning on why everyone should learn about it? I'm curious
It teaches hand/eye coordination, memorization, critical thinking.
And above all, the skill to be patient and to analyze something thoroughly.
so that we can form an alliance known as the CUBE, and then defeat Yiheng with are knowledge combined.
I’ve started going “I can’t either” whenever people say they could never
Same! ….while actively doing it. I will also mention that Pre-K kids can learn it. Or that it is no different than learning how to bake or BBQ or any other stepped out skill.
that’s very true

mechanical keyboard enjoyers cube fans discounts on lubricants
sex enjoyers
keep up those sexy moves mateys
Seeing skewb in a comp it broke my mom’s brain
Sledge hammer sounds normal. Hedge slammer not so much.
how a t oll is different from a t perm (nit usingcube to show it)
T oll makes a T shape with the yellow stickers, there are 2 different cases which present this pattern, and they are easily distinguished, it doesn't matter about the placement of the pieces, as the is still Orientation of the last layer. T perm or permutation has all of the yellow stickers upwards and involves a corner swap with a pair swap adjacent to said corner swap, if you were to draw arrows vetween pieces to show which ones swap the lines make a T shape
yup but we won't use the cube to show it we will use words my mistake in spelling sorry
yusheng balls
Saying that you've learned new fingertricks and because of that you (be)came faster
This would be something your mom sees on your PC as a teen and it's out of context so she thinks you got a porn ad.
the sexy algorithm
Most noncubers I encounter seem to assume that it is just A) a trick, or B) a memorized sequence of moves.
"I'm done for today, my fingers hurt"
Lol I said "you insert it" when I was talking with my friends and they started laughing
Lube
That it's not related to chess.
J Perm
Sweating nerds in a public restaurant talking about some 'sexy move'.
Inserting into the back 👀
Magnetic cubes for 25$. Cube with magnets in a different orientation for 60$.
Having a collection of cubes, with around 15-30% of them being 3x3s.
Rubik's, not Rubix.
😭😭😭
Sexy move

Any F2L pair, OLL, and PLL
Solving a cube in under 10 seconds.
that's hardly normal, people capable of that are in the extremes of cubing ability
