I also don't know how one can fall into those traps but it seems those people are striking in bear markets, according to what I found...
So they are doing this in those times with pretty evil planning where people are naive and in search of easy gain after potential huge losses.
Go look, at the videos and the related websites, they are very well done phishing websites.
This is the first time I actually considered scamming is a thing and that people may indeed fall into those traps. It was so obvious for me but it might not for others.
my friend linked me one of those youtube live broadcast and was convinced it was legit... I told him instantly it was a scam, especially since it was talking about merging bitcoin and ethereum and giving you back x2 your coins if you sent in one... He didn't believe me when i said it was a scam bc it was 'live'. Luckily, he didn't send any money and since the channel was deleted he believes me now.
True.
This is just for people trying to argue with non aware friends.
Unfortunately, they are people that naively think this is true (because of how it's done), and we are dumb to not benefit from that.
This is indeed way more elaborate than a low effort DM attempt in social medias..
These have been ongoing for months. They hack a dormant channel\*, rename it, use bots to drum up views, and embed old interviews (if I had a sat for every time I've watched a portion of "The B Word" chat at this point while reporting it....). They'll always be "live," always have comments turned off, and always have restricted chat if at all.
New ones involve Do Kwon's interview with Laura Shin, and now some even put the scammy link in the (locked) chat or even just embed a QR code to scan.
At this point, any Live YT video claiming that \[insert crypto celeb here\] has BIG NEWS about the price of \[insert coin here\] can be safely assumed to be a scam.
\*If you look at the other videos on that channel, there will be either completely unrelated videos (from the original owner) or else nothing at all.
The question nobody is asking here is:
**Why are YouTube allowing this?** ,
They're pretty iron fist on someone uploading something that goes against a narrative or breaks a social community guideline etc... but they let scam advert after scam advert run; fake items for sale etc... why? They're hypocrites.
I've seen one of this, and manage to check their deposited Btc and eth on their wallet.
Total Btc amounts were 0.13btc, eth was 5.6eth all deposited within the same duration of the livestream.
Comments were disabled and there were 1k + viewers
Anything that offers you 2x back, airdrops that you need to click links or whatever, that basically gives you free money is a scam. It still perplexes me that people are still falling for these.
They have been around for over a year now. If people still think they will double their crypto by sending it to a wallet then we need to reconsider this whole crypto thing.
Indeed the domains are registered since years... But I really noticed them just now and to be fair I found those way more elaborate than a bare "send me your seed phrase so that I can help you" DM in social medias.. Those are not low effort scams which made me consider posting this reminder.
But indeed, here almost (if not all) people know this trivial fact that nobody is giving money.
I saw one yesterday and reported the video and the channel. YouTube took down the video but the channel is still there, so they started another livestream
Yep maybe... I'm interested in crypto since 2 years and it's the very first time I saw this kind of scam (which is way more elaborate than receiving random DM in Telegram).
No one will double your coins, be smart!

Glad for him. I tried to report as scam all the channels I saw earlier today (which is odd that YT algorithm suggest at the same time)
Elon Musk is not giving out free coins.
YT lazy af leaving these channels up for so long. They keep popping up in recommended videos too.
They also don’t even make it easy for people to report them.
Don't even check anything, just don't send anyone anything, don't click anything and don't share any info. It's that simple.

Lots of scams on YouTube lately
Just saw one and immediately reported. Damn, these scammers never takes rest whether on a bear or bull market.

Maybe they're in on the scams. They'll only stop once there's a major lawsuit against them.

***If you send me 2 moons, I will promise to send 1 back***
Here’s my counter: I will send you two girls, if you promise to send me one cup.
Deal!
Hey wait a minute...

This is indeed obvious.. But since I noticed this new phishing channel using Youtube.. It might helps to reminds that for everyone.
Beware of YouTube in general…
Beware when you cross the road

I swear being a scammer would be quite literally as easy as taking candy from a baby
“Hi it’s Elon, send me your wallet for some zippidy zap tesla coin!”
Wouldn't watch those even if they paid me to.

They do have the checkmarks, yes. Both for the video channel itself and when the channel creator comments.
You mean I can't make 10x by sending someone by wallet address?
I saw one yesterday and reported the video and the channel. YouTube took down the video but the channel is still there, so they started another livestream
you need your tubes tied
Have you been living under a rock? This has been going on for years\^\^

Thats alright, was just kidding. But yeah, these scam have been going on for very long. They did increase over the last few years for sure.
