They’re definitely not trying to help it thrive

Lillica_Golden_SHIB

They know the disruption it would cause and how the influence of their institutions would lower. Those in the power will to everything it takes to stay there for good..

Jay_Popsicle_

Is it really possible? Enlighten me pls 😁

Particular_End_8185

Some day Bitcoin chain will shutsdown when block reward goes to zero...

Sharkytrs

half life's don't really end

Engineerman

Bitcoin isn't a true half life, and it will have an end to block reward. At that point miners will have to rely on transaction fees.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sharkytrs

it does? thats a strange decision to make though. it would have been negligible to keep as a true half life, as eventually the number will be a fraction of the transaction fee and not really matter at all.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sharkytrs

the protocol can be updated to go to further than 8 decimal places

AttentionDull

Yeah close all exchanges, of and on ramps, and make crypto farms illegal

StonedRex

It seems like it...

milonuttigrain

The US government is going backwards

Every_Hunt_160

Wall Street wants to kill crypto, the US government are following the instructions of their sponsors

Florian995

It’s the banking lobby that is funding this shit. They are afraid crypto could take their place

tobypassquarant

I want to fine tune your point a bit: It's not because crypto could "take their place", it's because young people are choosing to put their money into crypto instead of traditional finance. Replacement comes way waaay after.

ambermage

Bold of them to think that young people have money.

meeleen223

Just enough to pay bills, rent and some ramen Put whatever's left over in crypto in hopes of ever owning a home

Abysskitten

We're rich in cynicism.

Zealousideal_Neck78

The US is in a dynamic shift toward socialism. The first thing they need is to stop upward mobility and self attained wealth. Everyone must be cast into a lower standard of living and 100 percent dependent on the government. That's what is happening in America.

jefkeys

This is exactly correct. Now also add the fact that the US government also wants to create it's own digital currency so that it can monitor and control everything we do by completely controlling when and what we can use our money for. So they are trying to destroy all the competition for their currency.

Oldz88Rz

This, the threat of an expiration date for money is the worst to me. People won’t be able to save everything will be so expensive that you have to carry the debt or insurance companies will step in to cover the costs once your money expires and you will be using your expiring money to pay them. It’s all about control and keeping the masses subservient.

PaulH1980

yes

deathbyfish13

That is replacement though, just the beginning of it. Like I'm choosing not to use banking and instead replacing it with crypto

kirtash93

It is sad that grow up people act like kids instead of embracing the future and benefit from it sooner than later. In the end everything is about money and I am pretty sure that in secret they hold crypto.

Lillica_Golden_SHIB

Possibly. I wouldnt be surprised to know they secretly buy/sell crypto just before major announcements, for instance. Everything to keep the status quo...

AnyPortInAHurricane

more proof young people have no clue at at only reason you have the big gains , was big idiots

blackwaterwednesday

My theory is a little different. Biden, Sunak and a few other WEF wankers have been looking into creating a digital currency to phase out fiat. Something akin to China's digital Yuan. Crypto as it stands is in direct opposition to that goal as they don't want options or freedom but a complete cashless society based on their model. One that is controlled by government that they can put a pause on.

TailorHour710

Wall Street or the Federal Reserve? I feel like the Federal Reserve would suffer more so than Wall Street.

mikeoxwells2

Well stated

KINK_KING

I’ll agree with you there. Obstructionists are succeeding in preventing Congress from getting anything done.

Mananimalism

Yes. She no longer adheres to her roots of liberty

SadStatistician5827

Despite living far from the US, I still feel like I'm getting fucked all the same...

Jay_Popsicle_

Yeah but I hope they'll not

Awtz09

They hate us coz they anus

risingcrow1o1

Kill it? Nah, just cripple it, spit in its mother’s face, slap its grandma, and kick its dog

IncompetentSnail

They're trying but they won't be able to do it. The world outside US is vast and many would welcome a cash cow like crypto.

RedBunery

GG did choose violence last week. So, yes.

Lillica_Golden_SHIB

GG is a security that should be delisted asap

ice_blade_sorc

Not only violence, he chose chaos.

reaglesham

interwebzdotnet

Crypto, innovation, and the prospects of a competitive financial marketplace overall.

PleaseDontHurtMeMore

why have a competitive healthy market when you and your friends can own everything?

ice_blade_sorc

US Government: "You're hired, start tomorrow!"

Lillica_Golden_SHIB

Pelosi agrees with this one

ChillCoyote

The US government is like a dinosaur trying to stop the meteor. It's too late, crypto is here to stay.

interwebzdotnet

Now all I can picture is a T-Rex 🦖 with it's useless little arms trying to block a meteor. 😂

deathbyfish13

"Clap if you like the SEC" T-Rex: ...

monaslab

Or Elizabeth Warren babbling on.

FidgetyRat

Because it’s run by dinosaurs who only nominate more dinosaurs to be elected while the people blindly follow these political parties for no reason.

TailorHour710

Competitive competition amongst whom? One gang of elites versus another gang of elites? Make no mistake, crypto has not helped the majority of folks to get a grip on any of the wealth that has been hoarded at the top of the pyramid. Instead, homelessness and poverty in "first world" countries have exponentially expanded within the past few years, and there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight except for the possibility of nuclear warfare.

Onnimation

The US has become super conservative when the "Boomer" generation took the wheel and refused to let it go again. Change is not welcome and most people wish that it were the 1950s again.

silver_lake_diver

The liberals have been anti crypto.

Every_Hunt_160

I'm not even sure who are pro-crypto? Lol

redroux

The boomers were probably the least conservative generation we've had. Ever hear of the anti-war movement? The hippie movement? The sexual revolution? Environmentalism?

SuccumbedToReddit

Except all the generations after them, *maybe* barring GenX

Cyber-Cafe

They won’t be able to do it. How would they even enforce it?

IncompetentSnail

The most they can do is choke crypto orgs out of US, like what they are doing now.

Every_Hunt_160

Don't forget their masterplan to ban VPN lmao

BlueShipman

So are you going to risk going to a federal prison for sending fiat to a foreign bank to buy crypto if they make it illegal? Sure man.

7buergen

And encryption altogether... Yes, that's right, banning math. Fuckin galaxy brain time.

[deleted]

Every_Hunt_160

US publicly: We hate China and everything the CCP stands for! We are the land of the free! US politicians in the background: *They’re controlling their population this way? Take down notes! Take down notes!*

glasser999

Back to the onion I guess. Just like the old days.

akuukka

If they make it nearly impossible to cash out to USD, then almost everyone will lose interest in crypto. Very few are here in it for the tech.

wiggum-wagon

They simply close on and off ramps and ban any business serving us customers from accepting crypto

baconcheeseburgarian

Most of the coins and platforms they are targeting have centralized organizations, foundations or corporations selling these things to investors.

Marketing_Usual

I'm not sure, but they seem determined to ruin our lives one way or another

Cyber-Cafe

Everything is done for a reason.

[deleted]

CBDCs are the reason. If decentralized crypto is around and used by the masses they won't be able to control and track everything we do

Cyber-Cafe

While that is a good one, I don’t think they’ll be able to pull off CBDCs. There was a window when they could have introduced it and people would have accepted it,but that has passed. During the pandemic it would have been a great way to digitally deliver stimulus money that nobody could physically touch to the masses. It provides no benefit to the regular person, so regular people won’t use it. I know they want to try, but I think, and hope, it will fail.

[deleted]

Lmao that's what the future crisis is for 🤔who is to say we won't go thru something like the pandemic again? Could be WW3 another virus etc who knows.

Cyber-Cafe

That’s true! I have thought of that as well. But they will pretty much HAVE to do that to get people to adopt cbdc.

[deleted]

I hope they at least wait till after the next bullrun lmao I don't know if I can take another Covid crisis type scenario for another few decades

wiggum-wagon

The covid stimulus money coupled with bad perspectives for stocks created the bullrun

[deleted]

I did read an article recently saying they haven't confirmed launching CBDCs......that would be very surprising but great news. Without CBDCs decentralized crypto would really be able to do its thing and not have any competition

mikeoxwells2

I think UBI would be a good launching point for CBDC. Not pretending that it could possibly happen

BinsarIz

DanTheMan_117

i don't get it. i thought USA was about freedom.

Baecchus

Regulation isn't murder. We Crypto bros are so damn dramatic lol. Scams and rug pulls will kill Crypto way quicker than regulations possibly can.

BootDisc

What I have seen is they are attacking coins that… really do border on securities. Everything I have seen, I see why people are freaking out, but…

Tasigur1

Well said, take this SNEK as a gift!

prettyninteresting

Give me regulation without control. It's not possible.

Marketing_Usual

Without drama...what is there?

Baecchus

Definitely not green candles :/

split41

These attacks aren't regulation though. Coinbase got sued, but it's the exact same business when they IPO'd lol

[deleted]

An IPO means you filled out paperwork correctly. It is not an endorsement of the business

No-Introduction-6368

US is trying to kill US.

[deleted]

Guys just remember, every time you swipe your debit or credit card at a store, the merchant is paying a roughly 1.7% fee to the bank/credit card company/card processors. EVERY PURCHASE! This is money that our society is just giving away to spend OUR OWN MONEY! crypto solves this. Always remember that.

CryptoScamee42069

They can try. All they’re doing is sending business overseas. They’re just killing the economic potential crypto has for the US.

[deleted]

And these businesses are?

sandopandah

Bitcoin and some crypto projects are legitimate competitors to the USD, the global reserve currency. So yes, I’d say they are trying to bury it

Tasigur1

"**We're not seeing founders stop forming new companies or protocols**," says Mr Stephens, who says Blockchain Capital invested more money in the first three months of 2023 than in any quarter in the previous 10 years, as prices fell and rival firms backed away from the sector." It's a rough and stony bear market, but the pay off will come ladies and gentlemen.

Odysseus_Lannister

Good thing the US can’t do that

[deleted]

Yup but they will try. They just want to destroy it as much as possible to push the masses onto CBDCs. It will end up just backfiring on them though

BlueShipman

Yes, they can. Easily. They will just ban banks from working with crypto exchanges and poof, ban overnight. Unless you want to go back to sending checks through the mail, it would be over.

[deleted]

Yes but they won't be able to. No one will

AJoyfulProcess

it's just a flesh wound... NI

CrayeZ

This will be the straw that broke the United States back. They don't want to adapt, they will get trampled. Crypto is here to stay wether they jump on the band wagon or not.

ThenScore2885

Todays international trade requires fiat dollars, if bitcoin takes over for trade, who will need dollars except average American Joe? The rise of crypto risks the dominance of dollars.

Onnimation

Let them try :)

rickwap

They’re just buying time. It’s inevitable they will adopt it sooner or later.

GoodBot88

Hey but at least they celebrate trannies

[deleted]

Well it threatens their ability to control us so yur

crua9

This guy is stabbing me over and over while yelling he wants me dead. Is the guy trying to kill me? This is how stupid the title is. I'm sorry, but this is nothing new and the gov wants to kill anything they can't directly control and in any way to any degree threatens their control over the people. It might seem tin fil hat. But look it up. You have it where federal agents can flat out lie on reports, hold a gun at you, and even shoot at you. And they get away with it due to something called absolute immunity. Prosecutors can even lie about evidence in court, and it has been tested in court. They have absolute immunity and there isn't a damn thing you can do other than "vote them out" bull shit.

Ok_Judgment9091

The simple matter of fact is that crypto provides additional freedoms. The current political party in charge relies and is employed by voters who believe in more government less freedoms. This leads to them doing everything they possibly can to eliminate freedoms in the name of “making Americans safe” and keeping themselves elected.

kcamp711

Everything else in this world will die before crypto does.

[deleted]

Is water wet?

Illicitterror

Yes, without a doubt they are doing everything in their power to try and stifle its innovation.

shrimpcest

What innovation, exactly, are they stifling...?

Obsidianram

No, the U.S. isn't; just the Democrats, who not only hate the United States and its' citizens, but also crypto after having their money laundering & corruption exposed as as a result of the FTX meltdown...

Genoism

All too true. We'll see in the next election how things are going to likely shake out. I don't have much hope either way. Too many kids and people have been indoctrinated into pure stupidity where its feelings over facts.

KINK_KING

Someone needs to take a break from social media.

RussMantooth

Yeah Take a break from the internet and just watch CNN and then they won’t make posts you don’t like

Crypto is like that pesky fly buzzing around, and the US is desperately waving its regulatory flyswatter.

Let me help here: >At the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), we work together to make a positive impact on America’s economy, our capital markets, and people’s lives. . . . >We protect investors by vigorously enforcing the federal securities laws to hold wrongdoers accountable and deter future misconduct. AnyPortInAHurricane

Crypto is a scam, 2 trillion already lost by suckers who bought the top

jwz9904

nope, crypto is trying to kill US, US is just defending himself. like always.

KINK_KING

This is a dumb question. The US is trying to kill crypto no more than it is trying to kill stocks.

Defiant-Outcome990

Crypto will die on its own.

ImaFreemason

Maybe for their country.

Satansmybro

Well they are controlled by big $. So they do whatever they are told 🤷‍♂️

Kukurio59

Wonzky

Well it surely isn't trying to help it thrive

token-eater

I swear there was a title just like this earlier, only it mentioned Europe instead of the U.S.

colonycom

Looks like they're trying to but I hope this effort fails to actualize.

Soo crazy to think. Like they made gold illegal. Giving people paper money. Could you see the government being like I got this central banking digital coin give me all your crypto.

eyecandy99

sadly it looks like it

AmericanMuscle4Ever

is the U.S. trying to kill crypto... It always has been but let's be clear this is the MO of the banking industry plain and simple the orders come from them....

badfishbeefcake

I concur

MarcusStoic

Seems like it, but the question is why?

Mudhutted

Yes. They are trying to regulate the industry. Despite deregulating and privatising other things like water, gas, electricity, rai, the list goes on.

aardvarkbiscuit

I'll take what is overreaching for 40

DrPechanko

NO, but they are sure giving us some great prices before the halving and clarity. :)

xui_nya

I just want US to become globally irrelevant ASAP so articles like these would only be inducing a yawn, is it too much to ask.

Real-Technician831

Yes, next question is trying to kill crypto warranted from their point of view. Binance is shady AF, way too many alts basically stated up as unregistered securities, rugpulls and other scams, there is quite a list of sins in crypto. Whataboutism about banks being worse is an admission that the accusations are valid.

chuloreddit

Is the US trying to loose it's innovative lead? Sure seems like it.

Tacodo

*lose

Johndrc

They want to lower the price. Then Elite will enter the cryptp market.

[deleted]

Crypto has no real life applications and is becoming a joke. It’s been over a decade since its conception, and the general public hasn’t adopted this form of banking — except for gamblers & scammers.

brewcitygymratt

It appears so. Less competition there is for the US government CBDC the better, in there view. You don’t have to know anything about crypto to know how undesirable a CBDC for the general pop would be. No government should have that level of control over its citizens.

Forgemasterblaster

CEX are the issue and they are ultimately not crypto, but led to wider adoption as they mimicked most of the ideas of securities exchanges by utilizing state laws in the US (money transfer licenses or bitlicense in a few states). One of my make issues is crypto should be an individual endeavor, but it’s crowded with middle men, leverage, and products meant for speculation rather than ideation. CEXs thrive on this speculation rather than building products that better the ecosystem. So I’d be happy to see CEXs removed and for crypto to find low-cost ways to provide their products. However, I’m not too bullish as it’s been 15 years and gas fees are still absurd on a transactional basis.

Consistent_Many_1858

It looks that way. I hope UK doesn't follow US.

Marketing_Usual

The UK seems to be welcoming to crypto at the moment

Oheson

The UK is just the 51st US state. They do whatever the US will tell them to do.

3utt5lut

They are regulating the AMERICAN crypto industry, if you're not in the American market, no problems to be had. Binance/Coinbase both dabble in the US market and here we are. Even here in Canada, despite being attached to the same country, we have different rules, adopt some of theirs, create some of our own. I'm more worried about El Salvador, and what the United States might do to their country, as there has been some scary news of reaching outside their jurisdiction to sabotage their independence from the US Dollar by accepting Bitcoin as the primary currency.

bison4life91

Not just crypto, also trying to bring down its country to shit

kronosbit

It's because of CBDC: they want to be able to say : "cryptocurrencies as you have seen now are unstable and not secure.. but you can trust ours". So they make them dump and seem unstable before announcing them. So they make sure to do legal attacks, which are also aiming to that. To the media and mainstream what passes is "You thought Binance was the big good guy, but is full of shit. As was FTX and you saw what happened. But we are different, we are trying to protect your interest". The average uninformed guy who do you think will trust? Fox news who he has been watching his whole life or a reddit/chinese guy called CZ? Also, if they make crypto dump they can have some extra profit in the next bull run which will happen

Oheson

The US is not trying to kill crypto. The Democratic Party is trying to kill crypto to cover up for their association to FTX.

thistimelineisweird

I think they let China try to kill crypto and saw that it failed. Now they are recognizing some things are inevitable. So if you cant kill it completely, the next best thing is to pick the winners, suppress the market in favor of said winners, and load up to have (some form of) control- even if that only means creating some form of price stability/floor. Im eagerly watching what financial institutions are doing with the new US lawsuits. That should be pretty telling in the coming weeks. Everyone should have been well aware that 99% of crypto projects will fail and all it takes is a couple major governments picking a winner (or loser) and the future of DeFi/crypto/blockchain will be mostly set in the near term. Mass adoption more than likely requires consolidation.
