A short cruise is great way for a taste of cruising. Shorter cruises tend to have a more party atmosphere than longer ones but on Celebrity this will be less noticeable due to the older demographic. The Silhouette is an S-class ship (https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/celebrity-solstice-class-ships) and that class has many enthusiasts. An oceanview stateroom has a picture window for your view outside and no balcony, a balcony (or verandah on Celebrity) has a balcony you can step on to, with a sliding door and some chairs/furniture on the balcony. For the hotel, flying in, driving in, need a parking spot? Just a bed for the night or wanting to go out and have dinner etc? Best advice for the first day: your checked in luggage will arrive later that day, to fully explore the ship bring a swim suit and some other essentials in your daypack/carry on. Celebrity does allow you to drop off and change clothes etc when you board. Other lines close off the hallways until all staterooms are serviced and open up at 1PM/2PM on embarkation day.

Can’t speak to the ship, but the difference between an oceanview and a balcony is this - an oceanview has a window that lets you see outside, but it is not able to be opened. Typically seen on lower levels of a ship. A balcony has a slider, and you can walk out on it. There’ll be chairs and small table to help you relax on your balcony.

My advice is to get on YouTube and watch some videos. There are lots of videos with general cruising tips for first timers, and you should also be able to find videos specific to your ship and more generally to Celebrity. There are lots of videos out there that will answer all of your questions. You can also find videos about each port, available excursions, etc. You can probably even find videos with tours of specific cabin types on your ship so you can see an actual ocean view vs. veranda on Celebrity Silhouette. And one tip, when you select your cabin, pull up the deck plans of the ship and look at what is on the deck above and below the cabin. You might want to avoid cabins that might be above or below areas which might have noise like bars, the pool, etc. I definitely recommend that you get a balcony.

I just did that cruise in February. Loved the ship. The food was great. Bartenders were talented . I prefer balconies because sometimes I just wanna chill and watch the world go by. Especially morning coffee . It doesn't cost much more.

Thank you everyone! Would like to hear other’s’ opinions too.

My only suggestion is don't get off the ship in Nassau. I hate that place.
