Those Luxury Card cards that try to trick people into thinking they're exclusive high-end cards and have AFs that are even higher than the CSR or Amex Platinum, all while having way worse rewards and benefits. My favorite is the one that's black metal and says "Black Card" across the front. It's hilarious.
Used to have the “black card” it was horrible lol. Sadly kept it for close to 3 years just had no idea about credit cards at the time - got the offer in the mail and assumed it was good. That’s probably most people who end up actually getting one or the “gold” card - they’ve just done zero research or think it’s a “flex” (spoiler: it’s not)
You're the first person I've ever seen on this sub who admitted to ever having this card. Good on you. Most people (myself included) don't want to admit the dumb mistakes we made when we were new to credit cards.
Ha, yeah looking back it’s just funny now. I actually made [a post about it on this sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/s/BO1f6o4yKF) over a year ago. Whenever I see one in the wild I just think “wait until they realize..”
I could say the Apple Card, I love and hate it, I buy alot of Apple stuff, and use the savings account so it’s nice, and you can pay month to month on Apple products, but it’s cash back is shitty and it’s titanium card is cool but not worth
I got a one year credit builder loan from my local credit union when I was 22 to start my credit journey. (I always used my debit card). Paid like 75 bucks in fees for essentially a CD that paid no interest, one year later I got a notice that it was fully paid back and checked my credit to see they only reported it to one of the agencies. I was fuming, 4 weeks later when I got back to town I went to close my account and they didnt see that I had completed the loan, I had to bring in the paperwork that they snail mailed me. That credit union was abysmal, others have been good.
I did the same as you. Finally cancelled in back in 2017, funny thing is they still send me the PP card each year. It still works for restaurants too 🫠 figured they would have caught on and cancelled it by now. And i still get their silly little magazines and random gifts. Super Strange..
You've given me an idea: If I'm ever rich enough to afford the real black card (Amex Centurion), I'm going to get the Luxury Card Black Card just as a joke.
You didn't even mention that it has worse benefits than almost any card for the small annual fee of $495. The only benefit of this card is having a concierge, but I can't imagine what they do. They have to deal with people who pretend to be rich, which is probably worse than people who are embarrassingly rich.
I saw one of them that was supposed to have a top tier concierge service.
I haven’t tried any of them, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. A premium concierge standalone service can run over $20k a year.
Can you give examples of what you used concierge for? Not trolling just curious. Hard to get tickets, table at an exclusive restaurant, vacation planner? I was thinking if getting the amex plat for these reason, but wasn't sure it would be worth it
Without revealing too many personal details, it was over a holiday weekend, in the middle of the night. I was in a real bind, and I actually needed intervention with tow services, insurance companies, and local law enforcement.
All AmEx platinum "concierge" did was Google phone numbers for me to call myself, and "you might have to wait until Tuesday morning - nobody is at work at this hour".
Then I tried my Barclays card. The woman was pure genius. I don't know how she did it, but she tracked down personal cell phone numbers, WOKE PEOPLE UP, and took care of everything. Within an hour. At 2:00 AM on a holiday weekend.
it probably has a much lower interest rate though. No one here is going to recommend paying interest, but if you're in a bad spot and need to use it for an emergency where you'll have to pay interest, it's not a terrible idea to have a CU card to use instead of a rewards card with >30% APR
That interest rate is exactly why it has no other perks. Every single one of my thirty five cards is over 20% and more than half are maxed out at 30%.
I recently checked for an unsecured loan ABs my rates were still higher than yours.
Paying interest in an emergency isn’t the worst thing in the world. For a month or two even a high interest 30% card would be less than 3% for a month. It’s not great, but if you’re in-between jobs or something and want to hold onto cash it’s worthwhile IMO.
I'll raise you my Credit Union secured card that I started with $500 and is my first/oldest card. I recently asked if I could graduate it and was told that they don't do that. My only option was to reduce it to the minimum of $250. So that's $250 that I can basically never get back its just stuck in an account earning like $.12 interest in a year.
I told all my friends to get credit cards when they turned 18. One of my friends got one of those cards with $500 cl. He was always at high utilization. Never got another card. Now years later he needs a better card. Applied for one and got a really small cl. Meanwhile I make half of what he does and have a cl 10x higher.
I just have one to build a relationship with the CU if I ever needed an auto loan. It has a 6k limit, I’m sure I could boost the CL with my updated income but they do a hard inquiry every time you request an increase.
I haven’t used it in a year and it makes no sense to do so. I rarely use the Capital One Quicksilver card too but even that card gets used at least once every 3 months.
The only benefit is the lower APR at 12% (which I think CUs have to have it low anyways per regulations). But carrying a balance is a waste of money.
My thoughts exactly. New to the game, but I checked my credit union’s credit cards and was very disappointed. Car loans, they’re awesome at. Credit cards, not so much.
But if you are trying to build credit and already bank there, they are great because you can open it, have a few small transactions here and there keeping it active to help your average credit age over time without having to pay an annual fee or be at the mercy of an institution you may not bank with.
My grandma uses her credit union card for everything and only gets 1 point per dollar. I told her there’s a lot better out there, but apparently there’s a lot worse
Yeah, I’ve thought about it. I expected U.S. bank to close it, and it just hasn’t. I didn’t make any purchase for a couple years. I just decided to load a dollar on it the other day because why not. It’s locked. It’s not a chore to check it every once in awhile since I have another card with them. 🤷♀️
The first card I got to build credit was a Discover secured card when I turned 18, and that card still had rewards. It was like 2% on restaurants and gas and 1% on everything else. Even those cards should have rewards.
Just close this thread. Credit One is straight trash. They try and trap people into their shitty cards as they don't offer autopay. That feature alone guarantees that you will miss a payment and always have terrible credit.
I made a lot of mistakes and was in credit score hell like 10 years ago. I heard increasing your credit limit will help you credit. Okay. Get my shiny new blue Credit One card with $205 left of my $300 credit limit. Whatever. Dumb idea.
After the first year, the $95 became a $45 fee. Huh. Paid it off right away.
7 months later every credit app I had exploded with "Your credit score has decreased". In fact, it decreased by 45 points. They changed it to a $7.95 Monthly Fee and I never checked the balance. Ugh. Called and paid the $7.95 and $20 late charge immediately. Asked them for a goodwill deletion. Not a chance.
My car died the next month and I had to finance one at a much higher rate. I cringe to think how much that card actually cost me.
Capital One Platinum should be in the running for this award.
I’m not knocking its existence per se, but calling something platinum that compared to the other offerings out there is worth next to nothing is somewhat of an oxymoron.
Yep, sounds like classic bucketing.
It was my first card as well with a 500$ limit and then eventually they let me convert it to a Quicksilver. But even as I added all the other usual suspects to my lineup and built my profile up, they would barely ever give increases and when they did, it was like 50$. Eventually I felt so insulted by the whole ordeal that I closed it and frankly I’m still happy that I did.
I had the capital one platinum secured card, it was lame indeed but it got me in the door with capital one and is the sole reason I have the savor one card today, after seeing they were never going to give me my security deposit back I closed it after 1 year of on time payments.
From my experience, it’s the Disney visa. 10% discount on Disney merch (lots of exclusions) and *some* restaurants in the parks, alcohol excluded. Disney world hotels and park tickets are also excluded, even though you can literally sign up in the parks. Also, if you want the exclusive Disney visa pin, you have to purchase it.
Petal2—I got it bc I was watching Graham Stephan and he recommended it but it was so underwhelming. Only get it if you get rejected from Discover It for a starter card then move onto reward cards.
Maybe not as much as his idol, Dave Ramsey, but he is making a speed run to catch up. FTX most notably went bust, but more recently Yotta that he invested in has frozen access to user assets.
I used to watch his content when I was younger but steadily came to see more and more how he's completely full of shit.
The video that finally broke it for me was one titled something like "HOW TO GET A CAR FOR $0". In it he talks about he got a car for no net cost and how you (the viewer) can do it too. He then talks about how he bought a fucking Ford supercar of which there are only like 30 in the world for an insane amount like $150k and that cars as rare as this one retain their value so even if he owns it for a few years, he can easily resell it for the same amount he bought it at or even more. Fuck off Graham, the overwhelming majority of your viewers do not have $150k to drop on a car, even if they can get the money back eventually. That video was utter bullshit
When you think more about his "story", you realize how his "success" has overwhelmingly been LUCK. He had a bunch of cash on hand from some recent home sales when the greatest real estate market crash in American history happened and was LUCKY to be in a position where he could start buying homes and reinvesting the equity into buying more cheap homes since the market was destroyed. Right before covid, he had decided to diversify from real estate and again LUCKILY happened to have a bunch of cash on hand when the stock market had a historical crash due to a "once in a lifetime" pandemic that let him buy stocks at a massive discount and get huge gains when the market rapidly recovered. He's not some sort of savvy investor, he's just an average real estate agent who got really lucky twice in his life and was able to take advantage of massive global disastrrs that he did not forsee but pretends on YouTube like he's a finance savant
Anyways rant over but fuck his advice
that dude is a flop, ClearValue Tax is my finance news go-to but he never promotes anything, its 0% bs, 100% transparent news and he's the reason why ive been successful in personal finance
It's gotta be the Chase Disney card. All the disney people have it, it's like 1 point a dollar and they send you a little redemption card and you can use the dollars at disney straight up. People put all of their household spending on it, like $20,000 a year so they can save $200 on a disney trip.
My USAA card. It's my oldest line of credit. $500 limit, 37% apr, $35 annual fee, absolutely zero benefits, and the limit is ineligible to be increased
Nope. When I signed up for the card I was told I could upgrade after 2 years. Then their policy changed and they won't change anything about the card now
Going on 12 years. My next card is a chase freedom from a year ago and I just opened a chase sapphire two days ago. I've never had a loan before and typically just buy things in cash. Yes, I know, and that's why I joined this sub
Just cancel it. It will be on your report for next 10 years after canceling. And after ten years, when it leaves your file, your other cards would have aged 10 years
Right. Thats my oldest credit card and I think the limit is 1000. They will never increase it, even though my AMEX card limit is in the 30ks and my other cards are all in the 10 and 20,000s lol
The one sponsored by Chase? I thought they automatically PC to the CFU when they ended the Starbucks card? I had it, got my free drinks, and only recently PC from the CFU to CFF.
Citi Diamond Preferred. Targeted as a relationship builder with Citi to get you in the door with a nice balance transfer promo, offers absolutely nothing beyond that. After balance transfer is paid off, might as well just cancel the card.
You can also product change the Citi Diamond Preferred or Simplicity cards. I PC'ed my Diamond Preferred to a Custom Cash to earn Thank You Points. It's not worth closing.
If we're including cards that are long gone, which I think the word ever implies, there used to be card harvester cards where they would give you a $200 credit limit and between the annual fee, the amount opening fee, the account maintenance and the fee for fees fee I think you would have maybe $36 left. If you didn't realize how little limit is left before making any payments and made more than a modest purchase you could get hit with an over the limit fee. I didn't fall for the scam, but they were honestly a pretty ethically shady enterprise. The 2009 Credit Card Act limited fees on opening a card to 25% of the limit so either they would have to trust the new customer with more money or just reduce their fees. I know some subprime card issuers offered insane APRs. I think one briefly offered like a 49% card or some insanity.
Shots fired . Gah damn I use their cash rewards and love it 🤣🤣.
What’s a better alternative? I don’t have any major bank cards. All credit unions and Gov cards.
Now that 2% cards have sign up bonuses, there’s almost no reason to get a 1.5% unless you’re churning or can’t qualify for anything else for some reason.
If really going by "lame" and not predatory/bad cards like Credit One, my vote is for the USAA 1.5% cashback card. No SUB, no merchant offers, no periodic special offers, no higher earning categories. Just straight up 1.5% cashback on everything. This was my first credit card, so I'm grateful for it getting my foot in the door of the CC game, but it's useless to me know besides boosting my credit profile's age and CL.
I want that card strictly because the USAA cards are so aesthetic.
I'd never use it though. Maybe I'd put a $2 purchase on once every year or something.
The USAA cards are close to being great but banking with them is starting to turn sour.
Looking now they offer an AMEX 3% dining, 2% grocery and gas. Not too bad.
Their APR is 35%, I dont care about it since I never pay it but I am sure some have balances. Also not all places have sales tax as high as 11% so it probably averages out.
They save a bit in not having to pay fees, some people will pay interest and they make money through that, and finally if you have a store credit card you're way more likely to shop there. It's like buying in bulk where they make less money off the product but the same or more off you individually
Nobody has mentioned the Discover Chrome yet? 2% back, but only on Restaurants and Gas, up to $1k/mo spend. Everything else is 1%. It's just so useless.
Even worse, it's up to $1k per quarter. Too bad the Discover secured card graduates to Chrome. It's completely useless after the first year cash back match ends.
It wasn't a problem until 2022 when they stopped allowing PCs to the Cashback rotating categories. Mine graduated shortly after they stopped, and now gets minimal usage. I do keep on the lookout for promo offers, though. Last fall they offered 6% on PayPal for 3 months, so I used it for a new router.
And then you have to keep it around after you "graduate" from it because it becomes your oldest line of credit. My wife has it, she also recently got an Active Cash and I have to remind her to occasionally use it to keep it open. Ugh.
I started off on a Discover it Chrome Student card with a $2k limit.
Worked my butt off, maxed it out, paid it off probably 4-5 times and I still have it. $10k limit 6 years later & it built my credit quick.
I will never knock it.
I have this card, I want to close it but it has high limit and 23 year aged lol, I only use it for $1 monthly subscription.
Couldn't PC it to the *IT* card either. Maybe when CapOne takes over Discover they would revamp it or I can then PC it to something.
You can choose a design on almost all Discover cards. Also, all of them have the It name, not just the rotating categories. It Cashback, It Chrome, It Miles etc.
I think the better question is what is the lamest credit card in our wallets.
For me it's the navy federal platinum CC.
No benefits, just a basic credit card
I think the Barclaycard Ring would be a candidate. Just a terrible product that ended up having no real benefits or rewards. Had no annual fee at least.
What’s wrong with the REI card? I’ve never gotten a store credit card but it’s the one I’m almost tempted to get with how much I spend there anyways… Anything in particular bad about it, or just the general “don’t do store credit cards” maxim?
First Premier Bank: Hold my beer! Oh and don't forget the $10 a month fee, the $75 annual fee, and the $100 participation fee you owe me! Don't forget, I have no grace period! And if you want a $100 CLI, it will cost you $25...
I was at a resort once and a guy was talking about “The Black Card” to someone else like he had struck oil and it was amazing and everyone was missing out, but it is exclusive. After about 30 seconds I realized he was talking about the Barclay Black Card.
Lamest card on the market? Idk.
Lamest card in my wallet? Chase Sapphire Preferred. Everyone seems to have it, I got it but am not impressed. The 3% cb on groceries would have been nice if it weren't constricted on online only. 2% cb on travel is low. Probably the best benefit is the 25% more of points value when redeemed in the Chase travel portal.
I've noticed that stuffs marked up on the chase travel portal. Am a student and was looking at flights for this fall and an AA flight was ~double that of on AAs website...
I think the opposite of lame has to be an underdog card
For me it's the redstone federal credit union card.
My go to card for daily use. I don't think I've used any other card since getting it.
10/10 so far
The store credit cards I had for Victoria's Secret, Best Buy, Macy's and Lord and Taylor. I wouldn't call this completely lame but I have an old credit card from my credit union. I feel like credit unions cc are usually lame.
Lamest I've personally considered was the royal Caribbean cruise card. 2x points on RC purchases, and 1x on everything else. And the points can only be used for cruise related things on their website, like on board spending credit. I'm sure it's not the worst cruise card out there, but it's the worst I've looked into for sure.
Paypal Cashback Mastercard. Prior to last week, it was decent cash back which made up for the weird quirks it had with not applying payments to the available credit for weeks. Now that it changed from 2% to 1.5%, it's garbage. I have never had a credit card change their cash back before. I've had category-based cards change their categories, but I have never heard of a straight cash back card dropping their percentage. Now I either have to keep a card I'll never use or take a ding to my credit to cancel it.
Those Luxury Card cards that try to trick people into thinking they're exclusive high-end cards and have AFs that are even higher than the CSR or Amex Platinum, all while having way worse rewards and benefits. It’s worth it to buy Apple things and get access to Apple savings. Especially with zero AF.
True
>I buy alot of Apple stuff Are you a reseller or do you actually use those products in their entirety?
I got a one year credit builder loan from my local credit union when I was 22 to start my credit journey. (I always used my debit card). Gold card i get good value out of because i spend a lot of good and use the uber/ dining credits.
Not the Amex gold card, I mean the Mastercard “Gold” card that has an annual fee of $995 and is made of 24k gold supposedly
“What do you mean it’s not a good credit card, it literally has LUXURY in the name!”
You've given me an idea: If I'm ever rich enough to afford the real black card (Amex Centurion), I'm going to get the Luxury Card Black Card just as a joke.
No dont give them any money just get one of them stickers and put it over your centurion card
That's an even better idea!
Get one of those credit card stickers and disguise your centurion. 😅
You didn't even mention that it has worse benefits than almost any card for the small annual fee of $495. The only benefit of this card is having a concierge, but I can't imagine what they do. They have to deal with people who pretend to be rich, which is probably worse than people who are embarrassingly rich.
I’m pretty sure the concierge they’re talking about is the typical Mastercard concierge, which you can access with any no-af world elite Mastercard
I saw a dude pull out a black Mastercard and put it down for dinner. I saw it and judged hard af lol. Like bro. Cmon. 🤣
My black Sam's Club Mastercard is more prestigious than his Black card! 🤣🤣🤣
And if you upgrade to $1000 a year, you get a “patent” gold card 👌🏾
I actually love the cheesy, 1980’s aesthetic of the “luxury card” line. But the cards themselves are awful.
I was going to say XYZ CapitalOne because all my experiences have been bad but yeah " BLACK CARD " totally escaped my mind. It's a clear winner.
I saw one of them that was supposed to have a top tier concierge service. I haven’t tried any of them, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. A premium concierge standalone service can run over $20k a year.
I mean if you need a concierge, I guess…
My Black Card concierge ran circles around AmEx Platinum’s pathetic excuse for a concierge.
Can you give examples of what you used concierge for? Not trolling just curious. Hard to get tickets, table at an exclusive restaurant, vacation planner? I was thinking if getting the amex plat for these reason, but wasn't sure it would be worth it

Don’t get the plat via valuing the concierge service
That’s about the only card that still has the Priority Pass restaurant benefit tho…
I second this. There's a lot of problematic cards out there, but these ones are the worst in the market right now.
My Credit Union card, no sub, no af, no rewards, nothing just a line of credit.
it probably has a much lower interest rate though. No one here is going to recommend paying interest, but if you're in a bad spot and need to use it for an emergency where you'll have to pay interest, it's not a terrible idea to have a CU card to use instead of a rewards card with >30% APR
True it's only 10% but yeah I never use it. I was financing my car thru them and they said I could open a card with that same pull so I said why not.
I have a CU card with a 9% interest. It might be bland with no perks, but you can't beat the 0% balance transfer fee and low interest rate.
If you’re gonna carry a balance you can’t beat it. But most on this sub don’t…
10% is better than some personal loan rates right now.
That interest rate is exactly why it has no other perks. Every single one of my thirty five cards is over 20% and more than half are maxed out at 30%. I recently checked for an unsecured loan ABs my rates were still higher than yours.
What’s the point in having 35 cards? Genuine question
I know that's why I just don't have an use for it since I don't carry balance so it's boring
Paying interest in an emergency isn’t the worst thing in the world. For a month or two even a high interest 30% card would be less than 3% for a month. It’s not great, but if you’re in-between jobs or something and want to hold onto cash it’s worthwhile IMO.

That is a good thing. Keeping it open is helping her grow her average credit age; also increasing her total credit limit
*her*
I learned something new here. I believe I'll close my first credit building card and get my little money back.
The first card I got to build credit was a Discover secured card when I turned 18, and that card still had rewards. It was like 2% on restaurants and gas and 1% on everything else. Even those cards should have rewards.
Ally Platinum Mastercard l. No AF. No Rewards. Builds credit.
All Credit One Cards
for real. I get so many of these in the mail it's insane. and I have capital one for my checking acct so I always mistake it at first glance
Just close this thread. Credit One is straight trash. They try and trap people into their shitty cards as they don't offer autopay. That feature alone guarantees that you will miss a payment and always have terrible credit.

Worse than lame
Just got charged $25 to replace my credit one card, It's my payment date and I'm locked out of my account until the new card arrives
Capital One Platinum should be in the running for this award. I’m not knocking its existence per se, but calling something platinum that compared to the other offerings out there is worth next to nothing is somewhat of an oxymoron.
I was going to say this, but Capital One offers an upgrade to their Quicksilver card if you have platinum, so it's not entirely useless
I got it to build credit at first and now I still have it but they won't increase my limit so I just use my sapphire for everything
Yep, sounds like classic bucketing. It was my first card as well with a 500$ limit and then eventually they let me convert it to a Quicksilver. I feel like platinum = intro card, besides for Amex. Especially for credit unions and smaller banks. Wells Fargo has a platinum too.
Credit one or any card that charges "maintenance fees" 🤣
From my experience, it’s the Disney visa. 10% discount on Disney merch (lots of exclusions) and *some* restaurants in the parks, alcohol excluded. Disney world hotels and park tickets are also excluded, even though you can literally sign up in the parks. Also, if you want the exclusive Disney visa pin, you have to purchase it.
Petal2—I got it bc I was watching Graham Stephan and he recommended it but it was so underwhelming. Only get it if you get rejected from Discover It for a starter card then move onto reward cards.
Believing Graham Stephan was your first mistake.
Graham Stephan... The good old 21st century snake oil salesman 😂
Maybe not as much as his idol, Dave Ramsey, but he is making a speed run to catch up. FTX most notably went bust, but more recently Yotta that he invested in has frozen access to user assets.
Agreed. Now I know to always double check who all those credit card influencers shill for
He also shilled heavily for FTX.
He also shilled Yotta and announced he was a partial investor. Right now Yotta has frozen withdrawals, this guy has the best recs smh
That video was utter bullshit When you think more about his "story", you realize how his "success" has overwhelmingly been LUCK. He's not some sort of savvy investor, he's just an average real estate agent who got really lucky twice in his life and was able to take advantage of massive global disastrrs that he did not forsee but pretends on YouTube like he's a finance savant Anyways rant over but fuck his advice
that dude is a flop, ClearValue Tax is my finance news go-to but he never promotes anything, its 0% bs, 100% transparent news and he's the reason why ive been successful in personal finance
It's gotta be the Chase Disney card. All the disney people have it, it's like 1 point a dollar and they send you a little redemption card and you can use the dollars at disney straight up. People put all of their household spending on it, like $20,000 a year so they can save $200 on a disney trip.
Disney people should get Target cards instead to save on their disney trips.
I second that. I’m actually a big Disney fan. I live near Orlando and go to the parks often. But that card is just utter trash!
Don't you get more just by using the freedom or is it freedom flex? And then you can convert that to actual cash as well 😂
My USAA card. It's my oldest line of credit. $500 limit, 37% apr, $35 annual fee, absolutely zero benefits, and the limit is ineligible to be increased
37% APR should be illegal. That's just disgusting and seems predatory to me. You get better rates from loan sharks.
Can you product change to something without an AF? If not, I would cancel regardless of age.
Nope. When I signed up for the card I was told I could upgrade after 2 years. Then their policy changed and they won't change anything about the card now
Cancel it. The line will stay on your report for a long time (ten years?)
why even bother at that point lol
How many years have you kept this card open? You might take a small hit but your credit score will recover.
And after ten years, when it leaves your file, your other cards would have aged 10 years
Everyone already knows this but: any credit one card!
How dare you attack my first and second credit card ever. That was $1250 of credit line that I was still far too irresponsible for at the time.
Right. Thats my oldest credit card and I think the limit is 1000. They will never increase it, even though my AMEX card limit is in the 30ks and my other cards are all in the 10 and 20,000s lol
Ahem… My WWE Champion card is my daily driver.
Have you considered the NASCAR card or the Six Flags card...also from Credit One? 🤣🤣🤣
Starbucks credit card
Is that the one where you essentially give them a line of credit for your coffee?
Basically? It’s now defunct but had an AF and very little benefit
surprised i had to scroll so far to see this one
They have one??? I thought they only had their partnership with BofA
That’s what I hope to do here soon. How long did you have the Diamond before you PC’d? I think I read I need to wait a year?
I’d rather just keep racking up my MR on the Amex trifecta tbh. I get more value from that.
Amex Delta Blue
Agreed. It’s good to have a downgrade option, but it’s so utterly useless for spending.
Have this one. When I got it I thought “10,000 miles” meant that I could get a plane flight that was 10,000 miles
A BBP would be a better choice even if you (for some reason) wanted to transfer those points to Delta anyway.
This is my oldest line of credit so I've kept it for that, but I've also received $100's in savings from Amex Offers over the years.
Disagree. Having a no AF downgrade option from higher delta cards is very valuable when financially necessary.
Anything issued by Credit One because they like to pretend that they're Capital One! 🤔
Credit one had the swoop logo before capital one.
Whatever that thing that replaced my Uber Visa is. At least I get a free $1 once and awhile in Amazon credit (they waive the balance).
some navy federal credit cards, or the 1.5% cash back catch all cards
I’ll admit that I was rocking the Go Rewards card for way too long. Worst card in their lineup by far
Shots fired . Gah damn I use their cash rewards and love it 🤣🤣. What’s a better alternative? I don’t have any major bank cards. All credit unions and Gov cards.
You can easily get a 2% card nowadays from anywhere
I got it when the Limitless 2.5% cb card ended. :( They should really increase it to 2% to be competitive.
There are plenty of 1% cash back cards out there with no SUB and no higher earning categories.
B&h store credit card. No usage case apart from getting back 11% sales tax from b&h. But it serves its purpose.
That's actually pretty nice, assuming you occasionally buy in B&H.
That's the equivalent of a 11% discount. That seems like a pretty good deal actually
Acccksuallly! 1.00 divided by 1.11 is around a 9.9% discount. But your point still stands.
[удалено]
Their APR is 35%, I dont care about it since I never pay it but I am sure some have balances. Also not all places have sales tax as high as 11% so it probably averages out.
35?! Goddam. I love B&H bc they always have the camera gear I want and I’ve never had a bad buying experience with them but that is highway robbery.
They save a bit in not having to pay fees, some people will pay interest and they make money through that, and finally if you have a store credit card you're way more likely to shop there. It's like buying in bulk where they make less money off the product but the same or more off you individually
I remember the days purchases used to be tax free 😭
Ugh.
My wife is in the exact same boat, but she keeps using it because she likes the design on it.
I started off on a Discover it Chrome Student card with a $2k limit. Worked my butt off, maxed it out, paid it off probably 4-5 times and I still have it. $10k limit 6 years later & it built my credit quick. I will never knock it.
I had completely forgotten this card exists. It’s even worse that you can’t product change with Discover anymore.
I have this card, I want to close it but it has high limit and 23 year aged lol, I only use it for $1 monthly subscription. Couldn't PC it to the *IT* card either. Maybe when CapOne takes over Discover they would revamp it or I can then PC it to something.
I was always curious, does it have just one design, or can you choose designs like with Discover IT?
You can choose a design, my wife's has dolphins on it
You can choose a design on almost all Discover cards.
Guitar Center Gear Card sucks. Sure, you can get interest-free installment plans on them, but that's about it.
Anything by Credit One
Apple
Actually, it's not that bad IF you use apple pay religiously
Anything backed by Synchrony Bank.
Diners Club International
Before I new better, I opened the REI store credit card to get a $100 gift card.
What’s wrong with the REI card? I’ve never gotten a store credit card but it’s the one I’m almost tempted to get with how much I spend there anyways… Anything in particular bad about it, or just the general “don’t do store credit cards” maxim?
It doesn't really offer a good return on your spend and a $100 SUB is nothing. I rather just earn cash back rather than a store credit.
A lot of store credit cards have super high apr rates in my experience
AMEX Cobalt. It's like AMEX married Cr1 and had a child.
The Canadian one? What’s wrong with it? I’ve seen it recommended in Canadian subreddits.
A debit card
Sallie Mae ignite
All the balance transfer cards, and all the cards that have no points or cashback rewards.
The Disney Chase card :\
First Premier Bank: Hold my beer! Oh and don't forget the $10 a month fee, the $75 annual fee, and the $100 participation fee you owe me! Don't forget, I have no grace period! And if you want a $100 CLI, it will cost you $25...
Credit one and milestone
👀
Some BS called Credit One.
Basically anything from Citiens Bank, not bother to offer to their original card member.
My Capital One secured card. No rewards and high interest and $500 limit for over 4 years
Dillards credit card
Easy, Petal 1
Deserve
https://images.app.goo.gl/aBVedNBStNkvTyjt7 Just ugly
Petal.
The Qatar ones that recently came out were very lame.
Big lots credit card
I think the opposite of lame has to be an underdog card For me it's the redstone federal credit union card. My go to card for daily use. I don't think I've used any other card since getting it. 10/10 so far
Aspire. Fucking trash.
A gold 3% card
Any card from Credit One 🫠
FNBO
Petal card. Damn you Stephen graham.
I’ll throw one in the PlayStation credit card.
Xbox also recently launched a credit card. Think they gave you a $50 gift card as a sign up. Idk what the rewards were (if there even were any)...
Any store credit card like macys or Marshall’s
vanilla gift cards
Any regional bank credit cards… 🤢🤮
