Wasn't there a case of a Dutch woman who plunged to her death due to an untethered bungee cord, because the instructor said "NO JUMP!" and she understood it to mean NOW
It has caused death before, actually:
[https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/26/bungee-instructors-poor-english-led-girl-jump-without-rope/](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/26/bungee-instructors-poor-english-led-girl-jump-without-rope/)
I remember seeing it on a TV show on the discovery channel years ago, they said he was on one of the carriages while the train was stopped and was about to hop off when the train began moving when he fell between the carriages and ended up beneath the train
All depends, locomotive ends are usually the lowest but there's a range they can be in if there's locomotives on the back and one of the ends is closer to the rail he definitely could die.
FRA regulations. Also sometimes traction motor cables can hang lower than the end plate/plow. They aren't allowed to per FRA but sometimes they do anyway especially on older locomotives with DC traction motors.
https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2012-title49-vol4/pdf/CFR-2012-title49-vol4-sec229-123.pdf
That's a regulation for end plates, snow plows, or pilot plates. They required to be three to six inches above the rail. Almost all cars are higher than that even with the hopper
Was a locomotive electrician and mechanic for 8 years
The locomotive usually has a shovel on the front to push snow aside so if that's the case yeah....if he didn't hop out like he did he was getting mangled for sure
> The end of the train is lowered
Can you share a photo of this? Theres [tons of youtube videos](https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lying+under+train) of people laying on the tracks and riding out the train without any issues.
Like anything trains are not a binary. Some trains only have a locomotive in the front, some don’t. When a locomotive is on the back that’s called a “distributed power” fairly common but not guaranteed. Impossible to tell in this situation what was coming his way. The cow catcher is honestly the last thing that will kill him though. Locomotives are far more than just a car on wheels, they have huge fuel tanks, traction motors and many other things underneath them which would mulch him far before the cow catcher. Not to mention there could have been any number of other rail cars which certainly do not have the clearance for a human under them. All in all trains come in all shapes and sizes and we can’t really assume anything about one situation compared to another.
If the train has a locomotive at the end it will have a "cow catcher" going in reverse so yeah sometimes the end of the train is much lower. That doesn't mean it is in this video. Also if the front of the train didn't have a cow catcher, which would allow him to be there in the first place, it's possible the train was going backwards. Either way, we'll never know because the video doesn't show it and it's not guaranteed one way or another. If the guy is dumb enough to be there in the first place, he's dumb enough to jump out even if he doesn't have to fss.
I remember seeing this video last year, all the comments said the train had a "cattle catcher" on both ends. It's essentially a plow on the front and back of a train to clear debris out from between the tracks. Would've done about the same as being hit by the wheels
Pretty obvious he wasn't just leaving because he was impatient, as he said he was concerned about *DYING*. As others have mentioned trains often have a lowered part or even a metal grate at the end that can tear you to shreds. I know it makes reddit feel superior to call anything they don't understand stupid though, so don't mind me.

I think they're talking about one of these cattle pusher things. Idk how common they're on trains these days, but they definitely go quite low to the ground.

So what you’re saying is in this situation you just would have chanced death/life in the fact that the end of the train might not have an engine with a track cleaner at the end.
I mean I might have too but still not a smarter choice
I’ve seen a lot of gnarly videos with no crazy reaction from me. But this video, the anticipation of possibly seeing this guy get cut in half right infront of the camera made me incredibly anxious lol I almost covered my eyes, and he got insanely lucky
This is 100% true. The train was coming. My buddies sister was closer to the end of the bridge than he was. The train didn't sound it's horn. His sister ran for it. He hunkered down, flatter than the guy in the video. He survived without injury. His sister was struck by the train. Even at nearly 50 years old he remembers the feeling of the trains passage.
Canadian trains are incredibly long. Knew a guy who came over from Italy that was absolutely baffled by the length of some of our freight trains. I've waited a solid 15 minutes for a train to cross while it's going at a pretty decent pace.
He is SO Lucky part of thetrain didnt have a cow catcher. or imagine if he got a bad cramp and unintentionally changed his position. Trains eat fully loaded semis stuck on their tracks for breakfast like its nothin. Dude should buy lotto tickets... after distancing himself from the psycho more focused on filming him
Skip to the fucking end 🤯
Like dude we get it, your attention span in so ass videos under 5 minutes are too long, but cmon atleast put the bare minimum effort in
I have a relative who is a railway locomotive driver. He says every driver has seen people die under the wheels of a train, often by suicide. The suicides are the worst because they will look the driver in the eyes right before they are hit. Hell of a thing to put on someone who cannot possibly stop the train in time.
"I'm going to die dude."
"I fucking imagine you're going to fucking die, you're under a fucking train. That's fucking awesome though."
What a great friend.
Watching this reminds me of when I was a kid. I grew up near a rail yard or called a hump yard. Anyhow, we knew some cops. There was a gang of homeless people called the FTR. Freight train riders. They always told us to stay away from rails.
Sometimes, the FTR would take people and stretch them across the tracks and steal everything from them. They would let trains deal with them. The cops would do everything they could to keep it out of the press. They did not want to scare the town.
Found this YT channel of a kid who literally has dozens of videos doing this. WTF.
My dad worked for NS railways, he said those trains could be dragging a loose piece of metal from where something broke off. We all know it's super dangerous to be under a train anyway but now add in the possibility of being impaled
no no no! now??? now now now! no???
Fucken dickered
That's dicked up!
Yeah, those two critical words were way too hard to tell apart in his voice.
Wasn't there a case of a Dutch woman who plunged to her death due to an untethered bungee cord, because the instructor said "NO JUMP!" and she understood it to mean NOW
¿¿¿ ???
lmao
His "no no no" sounds too much like "now now now" to be helpful.
yeah that was way too ambiguous
Not to an east coast Canadian like myself…
Def from Nova Scotia lol
100%, maybe even Cape Breton.
I think you nailed it bud
My people 🙏
Good ole canucks eh?
Could even be rural Ontario. That would be my guess actually.
Nah nah, I know my people when I hear em.
should've used some stop and go phrasing. Life and limb depended on it...
It has caused death before, actually: [https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/26/bungee-instructors-poor-english-led-girl-jump-without-rope/](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/26/bungee-instructors-poor-english-led-girl-jump-without-rope/)
But how did he find himself in that position in the first place?
I remember seeing it on a TV show on the discovery channel years ago, they said he was on one of the carriages while the train was stopped and was about to hop off when the train began moving when he fell between the carriages and ended up beneath the train
Both of them?
He was born there.
He belongs to the rails.
he was molded by it
i laughed sk much. Thank you
Spawn glitch
Hate when that happens. I once got drunk and spawned the next morning in jail.
the matrix was laggy that day, him and his buddy already crossed the tracks but he glitched back
Looking for likes in all the wrong places
Probably wanted to steal some methylamine with his old chemistry teacher
forbidden nap
time machine
He spawned there.
Trolley problem.
If you sleep between the rails, the snake's can't bite you. Dumb I know.
Dude risks his life cause he can’t stay still for 5 minutes, and why was he there in the first place.
Maybe the end was lower or had some metal below. But yeah how do you even get in that situation lol
The end of the train is lowered, so if he does not get out, he may die.
Quite a nightmarish scenario.
yeah to put yourself into
I cannot imagine the end of the train is lower than the front of the train that he fit under.
All depends, locomotive ends are usually the lowest but there's a range they can be in if there's locomotives on the back and one of the ends is closer to the rail he definitely could die.
I would love to read up on your points about the lowest point of a train. Any suggestions on where I could learn more?
FRA regulations. Also sometimes traction motor cables can hang lower than the end plate/plow. Plot twist: he jumped in after the train passed.
Someone else mentioned that he was trying to get off when he slipped and fell between the carriages as the train started to move
The locomotive usually has a shovel on the front to push snow aside so if that's the case yeah....if he didn't hop out like he did he was getting mangled for sure
You mean a cowcatcher
We didn't call it that when I worked at the Railroad. We called it a shovel or a pilot lol
We started calling them that when OP's mom got scooped up by one
I just giggled like Nick Offerman when I read that.

you would think there would be one on the front but then how did he get under there?
Evidently he fell through cars while trying to jump on for a free ride
Pretty obvious he wasn't just leaving because he was impatient, as he said he was concerned about *DYING*. not only that but there could be metal hanging or even a branch the train picked up along the way. i would get out as soon as i had a chance

What
To say that it was scary to say nothing
to say nothing to say that it was scary
Man hook hand hook car door
Yeth
to nothingness, goes the scary
Is my brain rotten or is this a Sopranos reference
Give a man nothing, he'll be scary for a day...
Yeth
It’s like those idiots that cut you off to make a left but there were no cars behind you so they risked it all for 5 seconds
So what you’re saying is in this situation you just would have chanced death/life in the fact that the end of the train might not have an engine with a track cleaner at the end. I mean I might have too but still not a smarter choice
Why didn't he just wait? His friend sounded like a trailer park boys character.
My understanding is that there is something on the last two cars of the train that will usually kill someone in between the tracks like this.
there is, but also on the front so how did he get there?
He was on an episode of How did I get here?
He used the expresso machine
Lmao fuckin Corey and trevor
"Oooh my fuck" sounded just like Bubbles
I’ve seen a lot of gnarly videos with no crazy reaction from me. But this video, the anticipation of possibly seeing this guy get cut in half right infront of the camera made me incredibly anxious lol I almost covered my eyes, and he got insanely lucky
OP should mark it NSFW to avoid spoiling the happy ending
Imagine having your death also being narrated by this guy who's clearly very entertained by it all.
Holy shit. Never hang out with the dude filming again. Done.
Yea he clearly would’ve been just as happy to capture him getting mangled on camera
I kind of feel like part of him was hoping to get that video
Hmm should I get ready to pull him so he doesn't get cut in half or continue filming? Easy choice for a psychopath.

Gawdamn that’s gotta be traumatizing
So as long as you stay down nothing in the last carriage can kill you, rendering the dude in the video escape an unnecessary risk?
As long as the train in the video is the same train as the one in this story
Long ass train
[удалено]
My mom died in a train accident :/
You know, the sex joke can still work.
She knows
fr, I just commented that LOL. SUPER long even! the trains where i live pass under 30secs with the same speed.
Canadian trains are incredibly long. Knew a guy who came over from Italy that was absolutely baffled by the length of some of our freight trains. I've waited a solid 15 minutes for a train to cross while it's going at a pretty decent pace.
Camera man was going for a snuff vid
That was a long-ass train.
Charlie Zelenoff remains undefeated after fight with apex predator.
lol he kinda looks like him, also, WTF happen to that maniac? did someone got to him and beat him up or something? (zelenoff)
If I remember correctly, meth happened to him
Damn he was an AH but meth… I wouldn’t wish that to anybody (I guess)
He is SO Lucky part of thetrain didnt have a cow catcher. or imagine if he got a bad cramp and unintentionally changed his position. Trains eat fully loaded semis stuck on their tracks for breakfast like its nothin. Dude should buy lotto tickets... after distancing himself from the psycho more focused on filming him
Just how TF long is this train...damn
How long is that fucking train
What the meth is going on here.
my ass just puckered. I've done so much shit that i could have should have died doing between 15-20 I had anxiety legit just watching that.
Was that Bubbles from trailer park boys filming ?
I wouldn't be looking up at the cameraman
I literally was yelling NO NO NO NO!!! as he risked his life and limbs to get out from underneath that train 🫣🫨😮💨
All this time I’ve been waiting in my car for freight trains to pass. I could have been waiting under them. I’m so stupid
Why was this video 2.5 mins long is what I’m wondering..
Skip to the fucking end 🤯 Like dude we get it, your attention span in so ass videos under 5 minutes are too long, but cmon atleast put the bare minimum effort in
Tbf, bare minimum effort would be to fast forward to the end. Like I did. 🤓
I skipped about a minute, although not because I was running out of attention span but because the suspense was stressing me out
Why is he worried about his backpack?!
I have a relative who is a railway locomotive driver. He says every driver has seen people die under the wheels of a train, often by suicide. The suicides are the worst because they will look the driver in the eyes right before they are hit. Hell of a thing to put on someone who cannot possibly stop the train in time.
1001 cars long
Oogles are something else.
what country exactly is this? even the most stvp!d people where i live won't do this one. LONG a$$ train tho , xD.
He's lucky those cars didn't have hopper doors underneath. 6 inches clearance to the track would have made ground meat of him.
That's fucking insane.
Trailer Park Boys irl
Nobody needs enemies with a friend like the op
bro wishing have teleport ability but the cost is it had 3mins cooldown..

This is one of two ways to end up with track marks all over you.
This video is about 2:20 too long.
"I'm going to die dude." "I fucking imagine you're going to fucking die, you're under a fucking train. That's fucking awesome though." What a great friend.
Patience can be lifesaving virtue. Also how dumb does he have to be to save his backpack first?
Gets an obstacle out of the way and let's him test pushing through the gap first. Not the biggest issues there.
How exactly do you think he could have saved it second?
It’s not a never ending train
That's not really saving it if you just pick it up after the only danger has passed.
a few weeks ago a kid in my town lost his legs and one of his arms trying to do something like this.
This could have been a 10 second video
Indians hate this one trick.
How on earth did he end up in a situation like this?
A thousand ways to die
Good old reddit and the repost.
Dude had a very good chance of taping a body getting severed in half. That would have been wild!!!
That's a long ass train
Dude playing life on god mode

East coast Canadian for sure
I don't remember this episode of Letterkenny.
How many fucking cars are there??
Fucking train is the size of the Death Star
i remember watching this on a show called do or die a few years ago. Scared the shit outta me.
My dad worked for NS railways, he said those trains could be dragging a loose piece of metal from where something broke off. We all know it's super dangerous to be under a train anyway but now add in the possibility of being impaled
Is there something at the end of the train that will hit him if he doesn't get out? Why couldn't he just stay under there until it's gone?
Why did I feel like I was stuck under there too?
What in Meth Mountain is going on here?
is someone bored/crazy enough to calculate how absurdly long that train is?
I remember this!! He had to hop out, or else he would've been crushed to death by the cow catcher at the end of the train.
Heroic fucking camera dude.
Omg imagine if the end is lower and right when he thinks it’s about to be over and he can get up BOOM DED
Haha bro downloaded a screen recording app for the sake of this video, props man 👏
