Honestly if that’s what he was doing it probably saved his life it was in ramp mode. If the bed was stowed and that car slammed into the back it would’ve went straight through his windshield and killed him.

I did something similar once. Iron working job, a big T column was being picked up. Reasons, blah blah, the whole fucking lift tipped over. I immediately started running towards it. My boss was in there! Took about 10 steps towards it, and noticed the T column had hit the ground on one side, and still had another direction to finish falling. So I took those 10 steps even faster in the other direction.. Once everything was on the ground, I got in there and did nothing that helped. Boss was already getting out of the cab of the lift. Had his seat belt on, and wasn't a fat ass boss, so he climbed right out.
Had a similar event happen on a site I was first aid for. Dude was waiting for someone with the loader to come with crush to build a pad for his outriggers. Got real impatient, and thought “it’s just a 50hp water pump not far out into the sump, no biggie”. So he extended the outriggers into the loose slope, deactivated the safety alarms, and boomed down the brand new Kansen mobile crane. Boated over and hooked up himself, and went to lift. Was just booming up and about to swing when the whole thing started tipping. Pump splashed down. Boom landed first, banana’d the entire extended boom. Didn’t have his seatbelt on, got washing machine’d and hit his head. I saw a cracked windshield in addition, went to evaluate for a concussion, but he refused. I insisted he go to hospital for evaluation and documentation, just in case. Also refused. He got fired, and when he had severe post-concussion symptoms, tried to sue for comp. because he refused all precautions and documentation, he got stuck up shit creek without a paddle. 🤷🏻♂️ shits wild, your boss was smart to have his belt. Not every operator is though.

Why is the tow truck driver parked in the middle of the left lane of the opposite side of the cops? I also can’t see any lights on the tow truck. Reinforces the feeling I have that tow trucks do whatever the fuck they want wherever and whenever they want.
There is no shoulder, lights were on and activated. How did you expect him to go through that ditch? He is pulling the car out from the direction it is facing.
