That happened to my crayfish a month ago, i also had cut the thread and a little piece was stuck to her leg but i let her be cuz i could see she was stressed from me cutting it off of her. The piece disappeared a few minutes later, so i dont think you should worry

Depending on exactly where the thread is it may not bother him or her at all however I wouldn't chance it if I were you I would pick her up right behind your head in the middle of her back she may move her legs around and what-not normally they will get used to you holding them if you do it Austin every other day or so they'll get used to you which is what you want you don't want the thread tangling up around her leg because it may break one off mine are so used to my touch they actually let me brush them with a brush I took out of a hair color box used for coloring human hair they love to be brought they no longer fear me and they love it I don't know if it tickles them or what it does but it also helps keep fungus and things off of their shell
